alright conrad, we have a problem now solve it
All right 29 year old rookie – what ya got.
Good at-bat by Casey there. At least the pitcher’s spot is out of the way. Let’s see what our latest call-up can do.
HR please conrad, or a single, or anything thats productive.
Steve from OH
I’m a big fan of Hoover’s as well. My three breakout prospects in the spring were Hoover, Thompson and Milligan. Dunno about Thompson, but Hoover sure looks good so far…
love his name

Morton pitching well for the Pirates tonight: 5.2 innings of shutout baseball.
NO FING WAY
Welcome to the bigs
That’ll do, Brooks.
Wow, Welcome Mr. Conrad
Chop It Up All-Star
Brooks has already out performed Kelly Johnson!!
That’s our Mr. Brooks!!!!!!!!!!
“I guess that would make sense since he’s like…12″
Exactly. He’s also new to the country, so we are probably working hard to get him comfortable. We want to avoid the issues that have plagued Escobar.
Son of a b!tch!!!!!!!!!!
Rob from SC (Please don't trade Escobar)
Bye Bye KJ, you have been replaced.
Trade Yunel and KJ. Brooks Conrad is the real deal.
HOLY COW !!!!!!!!! BROOKS WHO !!!
Yeah! There We Go BC!!!!!
Bye Kelly, lol!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Take notes Francoeur!!!!!!!!!!!!
Are you kidding me??? Wow!
That is productive.
So far, so good on the Conrad signing, Mr. Wren…
Good lord, Brooks Conrad comes onto the team today, pinch hits, and hits a 3 run home run.
Didn’t see that coming.
No Fu%king way!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
July 3rd, 20099:00 pm
Welcome to the club Brooks Conrad
Okay, Frank Wren gets props for that particular roster move.
Well, whoever said we needed to score 8 runs tonight was right ~_~
July 3rd, 20099:01 pm
wow Brooks Conrad!!!!! He’s done more damage in 1 AB than Jeff has done in 2 months
oh, that’s absolutely friggin’ silly
dont push it, Yunel is too good to be traded.
Kelly Johnson….. last 28 days: 0 HR and 1 RBI.
Brooks Conrad….. 1 AB, 1 HR, 3 RBI.
guess Bobby wasn’t kidding when he told me before the game the fans would like Brooks Conrad….What a gamer he is. ….there you have his first major league home run.
Back to back days with Braves pinch hit homers
Blanco was just standing there beating Conrad on the head. LOL!
“wow Brooks Conrad!!!!! He’s done more damage in 1 AB than Jeff has done in 2 months”

Why would a manager have a .300+ hitter bunt with a man on first with the worst offensive player on the team on deck? Because the Book for Managerial Dummies tells him to.
Bobby Cox is absolutely incapable of making an intelligent decision when he has to juggle more than one thought in his dense head. He took the bat out of Escobar’s hands early in the game, and that decision quite likely cost the Braves a run or 2.
His insistence of having his better hitters bunt with lesser hitters behind them makes no sense, but in Bobby Cox’s Plesantville universe, it makes all the sense in the world.
Once again, one of his players does something to overcome the manager’s cluelessness. Much better to be lucky than smart. Much better.
I’m sure that was Cox’s plan all along. Create an open base for Kotchman & have them pitch around him so Conrad could jack one out. Genius.
Wow! That’s certainly worth a feather in the cap!
By the way, didnt I say that we are just going to have to score at least 8 runs tonight? 3 run lead, 3 innings to go. Looks like Bobby gets to use his Moylan, Gonzalez/Soriano combo tonight.
What a BIG HIT. Dude has been in Triple A all year and comes up and TURNS on a fastball. We’d be up by 5 or 6 runs if Francoeur could do that.
The first career homerun is one of my favorite moments in the sport. The Braves got a couple of these this week. That’s wonderful.
5 straight, longest win streak of the year
Chris from the Rock
Lightning in a bottle! He’s the 2009 version of Willie Harris/Charles Thomas/Jorge Campillo.
Well I seem to remember 2 Braves outfielders that Hit a homerun in their first MLB at bat….. Oh know. (Btw I was talking about Jordon and Jeff)
That is freakin awesome…Brooks has half as many HRs as Frenchy had all of last month.
July 3rd, 20099:03 pm
gotta love the spirit of our ‘role’ players martin and gregor
Roman Gal I knew you’d come around to Riaan Spanjer-Furstenburg…you left out that he’s got a homerun, though! Don’t worry, I’m sure you’ll catch on eventually!
Well, yeah, ya know, I figured it was about time I gave it a rest with uh…what’s his name?
Sorry about missing the homer–yeah, you just gotta keep in mind I’m new to this…
Brooks is the 100th player in history to homer in his 1st AB
The only thing I don’t like about Martin Prado is that he looks too much like Francoeur with that big cheesin’ smile he has on the video board at The Ted.

what do you all think of these red caps?
Bravesman, last time I checked, ML games go 9 innings. Not 6.5, LOL!
Please don’t jinx them by claiming victory only 2/3 through the game.
This game is far from over.
lets preserve the lead
July 3rd, 20099:05 pm
Didn’t Brooks play a little for Oakland?
I’m pretty sure Jeff struck out his first time up and then hit a HR in the 7th, or so.
How do you know Escobar didn’t bunt on his own?
Bravesfan – I was definitely kidding. Brooks Conrad is a career minor leaguer
Jurrjens4NLCY- thats exactly what I thought when he hit that
Thank you, N8
The Bird and Indian
That wasn’t his first MLB ab BTW.
i thought that moylan,Gonzo,Soriano was a lock to win
July 3rd, 20099:06 pm
Jeff’s HR wasn’t in his first AB. It was a late inning HR to take the lead in his first GAME.
Hey Coach, I believe Brooks Conrad DID give us something to get excited about.
Charlie Morton is helping us tonight. He has a 1 hitter through 6 innings. Pirates up 4-0 over the Marlins.
Looks like Francoeur is trying to stay in the good graces of Bobby. He went into the bullpen to get that home run ball that Conrad hit. Talk about brown nosing. Bobby just cant let go of his false belief that Jeff Francoeur will be a good hitter. Now I understand why people believe in religion. People need to believe in something that doesnt exist (Neither God nor the ability of Francoeur to DRIVE the ball exist).
After Hearing Phils Collins “In Ther Air Tonight” I gotta bump that Shyt…That song is in my head, BTW That song is so good they had to remix/cover it 3 times….
Let me be the first to say “runners on first and third for Furstenberg”.
July 3rd, 20099:07 pm
Man you just gotta love that. I was also very happy to see all the spirit from the players in the dugout lately. Things are starting to look a LOT better. Another 2 hit night so far from Prado. This guy is looking so solid. He is just spraying hits EVERYWHERE!
Come On Petey-Pabb!!!! Shyt!!!
Good to see Morton pitching well. He has a bright future ahead of him
mr baseball: Why would a manager have a .300+ hitter bunt with a man on first with the worst offensive player on the team on deck?
Since we’re playing “here’s what might have happened” i’ll play along.
Escobar walks, Diaz is allowed to hit and flys out to the outfield somewhere, Jeff comes up and promptly hits into a double play on the 2nd or 3rd pitch.
Inning over, game still tied 5-5
July 3rd, 20099:08 pm
Go up by three and you let the first two runners get on base…geez!!
“Brooks is the 100th player in history to homer in his 1st AB”
As a couple of other folks have pointed out, this wasn’t his first career at bat. He had a cup of coffee with Oakland last year. I think that was his 20th at bat.
willingham dangerous bat
Moylan off tonight…why is he still in? We need the win.
“i thought that moylan,Gonzo,Soriano was a lock to win”,
WTF said that? Certainly not me. Our backend of the bullpen is strong as hell. But since there is two on and nobody out, I’m gonna go with the fact that you already jinxed em’.
Nicely done A-hole.
Yeah, what was that guys name that you used to go on and on about? Oh, it was “Four-Eyes”, right?
Although I will say this. Brooks Conrad is slugging 4.000. KJ? .359. Just saying…
Why does moylan struggle at nats park
Moylan always makes things interesting
Damn Moylan, what exactly are you trying to do, give those runs back?
July 3rd, 20099:09 pm
Offense on, Moylan off.
Some things never change.
Paul Lentz, this is no place to talk about religion
That was not Conrad’s first ML hit. He played a few games with Oakland last year. His first homer though.
This is the reason why I dont like using Moylan in the 7th inning. He is too inconsistent. He has come into a number of games with a 3 or 4 run lead and simply given them up. Yet, Bobby “believes” in him. Just like he believes in Francoeur, Jeff Bennent, and Kelly Johnson. We are lucky to be only 2 games out, considering the players Bobby believes in simply SUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Moylan in to blow it.
chill out bro
Maybe you jinxed them N8 with your perpetually expressed pessimism
July 3rd, 20099:10 pm
great play chip!!!
there’s the first, now get your double play!
Uh oh. Looks like “bad” Moylan is here tonight.
We talk baseball, other sports, music, movies, BBQ and whatever (except politics or religion)
