The offense is picking it up. Escobar DROVE a hanging 3-1 pitch. I have a feel that Diaz will be walked and Francoeur is going to hit into a double play.

well here is the good news: No matter how bad KK does tonight, the Nats have one of the worst ‘pens in baseball and the braves offense is working well for some reason the past few days.

Diaz was 8 for his last 10. He isnt going to deliver the big hit every time. It would be nice if Francouer could deliver “once in a while”.

I’ve been as patient as anyone with Francoeur, but he has to be sent back to the minors. The majors are not a place to work things out for a year and a half. It’s gotta end. Now that a lefty is out of the game, move Matty to right and GA to left. I hate to say it, because it’s going to cost us runs on the defensive side of the ledger, but this has got to stop.

It would have been nice to see Garrett hitting in that situation. Instead, Francouer swings at a ball in his eyes for strike 3.

Meanwhile, Francoeur’s average dips to .246. For the season, Francoeur has 5 homers, 33 RBIs and 12 walks in 291 at-bats. In his last 890 at-bats, Francoeur is hitting .242 with 16 homers, 104 RBIs and 51 walks. PATHETIC.

It isn’t like the Braves, or Cox, is unaware of the problem. They are by all accounts desperately trying to move him. But to even have a prayer of trading him you can’t bench him. I think it’s past time to accept the fact, though, that a trade ain’t happening. He needs to be in Gwinnett.

“How in the world is Jeff batting higher than Kotchman in the order?”

Only reason I can come up with is that Casey’s lack of speed has really pissed Cox off so he made sure he would not be on base to slow anyone down. Only reason I can come up with or because we have faced two lefties. That makes the most sense.

I would go out on a limb and say we would have 3 more wins and be in first place right now, if Jeff Francoeur is replaced by Matt Diaz on opening day. Matty would certainly have a few more errors, and would struggle vs. righties, too, but he’d have knocked in more runs than Jeff during the 30 or so times Jeff has left people stranded this year in big situations–THAT IS NOT DEBATABLE.

Chop it up,

Because, unlike Francoeur, Kotchman isn’t an automatic out with the pitcher on deck. He can battle and run deep into counts until he finds something to hit. He works the pitcher.

Paul Lentz

If Jeff Bennett doesnt break his hand, do any of you think that we would be on a 4 game winning streak?

Peter Moylan should have opened the season in Triple A. He could have gotten his work down there, worked on his command, and then be pitching the way he has for the past week for us. Instead, Bobby just kept rolling the dice, hoping that Moylan would revert back to his old self. Moylan was coming back from injury, which is understandable. However, using him in 7th inning situations when he was inconsistent was not the thing to do.

Now it looks like Moylan is back to this old self. It shouldnt have taken him working out his kinks the first 2 months in the Majors for this to happen. Those kinks should have been worked out at Triple A.

Good 4th inning for Kawakami. One more inning, possibly 2 would be nice.

That makes sense. Shoulda thought of that. What I would like to see though is exactly what is said to him by Bobby and TP in regards to at bats with runners in scoring position. Then I wanna see the looks on their face when he goes up there and does what he did in 4th inning. If one of the reasons Bobby has trouble getting through to Esco is the language thing, what’s Frenchy’s excuse. He has no excuse, he understands what they say.

In a way, this is Brandon Jones’ fault. If he were showing any power whatsoever, he’d be up right now. When I watched him play at AA a couple of years ago, he had tons of pop. That injury must have wiped him out.
