Why not do what the Rockies did when they fired their manager. Bobby Cox's time with the Braves expired a long time ago; all these championships and only one world championship ,and bringing good players trying to please Chipper, whose welcome has expired too. They both need to go, both of them are worn out-they don't have anything left. Now regarding Yunel, if we had eight more players like him, we would have a championship team here ,and ya'll couldn't say anything, only cheer; so layoff, Yunel is the best player you have besides Prado & McClouth.

Speaking of things at the Ted. I HATE it when the organ plays "ta daaaaa" at the end of each inning. When we strike out or hit into a double play and OUR organist does "ta daaaaa" it makes me crazy. Have you noticed that? Also...the organist has no clue as to how to play the chop. Just stick with the Florida State band. OK..I'm done and feel lots better.

Epinephrine

I'm with you on the Vazquez thing - I think he's been our most reliable pitcher - but without run support he has a lousy record.

BUT DAMN, you jinxed the Pirates "Mets are being destroyed"

Never say that! (lol)

Hopefully the great hitting (thanks in part to the horrible Phillies pitching) can continue tonight and through the weekend series at Washington (we only won 1 out of 3 and didn't hit earlier this year at National Park). I don't think that's too unrealistic. Then with the added confidence, we'll have 2 series in good hitting ball park (yeah, I know that Coors is no longer a launching pad but it's still quite spacious).

I think an underrated concern for this year's Braves team to me has been the defense. The leftside of Chipper and Escobar has been the bottom 2-3 in their respective positions in terms of UZR (ultimate zone rating, probably the best fielding metric). McLouth and Francoeur's ranges are also a bit of concern. We have shown the ability to play some good D at times but just need to be more consistent.

bravos 123

I bet you didn't mind JF's aggresive swing when he hit the game tying HR (in the 9th) on a high fastball a few weeks ago. I realize his obvious struggles and they stand out because they are predictable. I can tell you he won't go anywhere until the end of this year so you had better just keep hoping on improvement like we ARE seeing (the thought of him EVER taking the ball to right was impossible last year). I am excited to see who will take his place as the blog scapegoat next year and the years to come. Adam LaRoche used to be my aggravation.

I watched Shelly Duncan hit a home run against the Gwinnett Braves, a couple of weeks ago. He is a pretty big man, but was drafted in 2001 and has not been able to "stick" in the Big Leagues for more than a cup of coffee. He is 29 years old and has played a lot of minor league baseball.

I agree he might be a short time answer to a power outfielder, but I would not give the Yankees a major league player for him, in particular, Medlen or Logan. Maybe a pitcher from the Gwinnett Braves.

You do not trade Vazquez because you win in postseason with pitchers that throw heat and he,JJ,and Hanson fit the bill. That's why Fla.always come up big during playoffs. We have only had one pitcher that fit that bill and that was John S.He's in Boston now,so we need to keep our power pitchers.I still say that if the right power hitter is out there,a trade of GA with Gonzo should be enough to close the deal.I don't want to give Gonzo away in a trade but to get something you have to give something and with Moreland pitching better and young Medlen coming on,I believe the BP would be fine with Soriano as the lone closer. We really need a righthanded power hitter and I believe Wren will make it happen. This thing is there for the taken,I hope it will get done.
