I’ve been picking McLouth for my ESPN fantasy baseball team lately. However, I kind of figured that he wouldnt be in the line-up so I didnt pick him. I was right.
Enough of Francoeur and his stupid A$$ underwear. I dont want to hear about what kind of drawers our no hitting right fielder is wearing. Hit a freaking home run more than once every 3 weeks or so……..then you can maybe talk about wearing some gay A$$ underwear.
How can a grown man who has only hit 5 homers all year have the “nerve” to say that his “lucky underwear” is helping he Braves win. How about you tell those mofo drawers to help you hit some freaking homers. If our line-up had some right handed power, then maybe we could win a few more games.
DOB is it safe to assume that if Schafer has a hot stretch going into the break, that we won’t be at AAA for very long? Or with McLouth on board, do you think they intend on leaving him down for the remainder of the season?
June 30th, 20097:15 pm
You’re talking to a nervous nelly here. Or is it Nellie?
All I know is D-Lowe better not give ‘em anything.
If we can win with Gregor Blanco and Diory Hernandez in the line-up tonight then the Phillies might be in serious trouble.
We have to light up Blanton one way or another.
Come on D-Lowe!
thats a sign that Cox has no authority among his players
Oh, brother…players take themselves out of the lineup all the time. Chipper does it, too. Maybe, just maybe, Escobar doesn’t want to hurt himself even more by playing.
June 30th, 20097:16 pm
Sinker appears to be “falling off the table” quite nicely.
Of course, as I type that, a pop fly to left….
So now you want to trade Escobar for another wife beater? What is it with you people? Headstrong young player i a problem, but no problem with guys who abuse women? Sheesh!
it looks weird the way this has gone down with him and Cox over the past few days. (Salamander)
It only looks weird if you buy into that crap about Bobby punishing him.
The only other option is that he did bench himself lying about being hurt, and if that is the case he needs to be traded ASAP, because that would be total egocentric BS.
Interesting theory there Holiday.
Not buying it.
June 30th, 20097:17 pm
“gee, so much for all that “punishment” Bobby was unfairly handing out by “benching” him. Wonder where all that started anyway? Funny how so many posters just “know” what is happening in the locker room all the time.”
Exactly what I was thinking. That’s one thing I try to stay away from, not assuming I know what’s going on in that locker room, but the way some folks talk I would think they know these players personally.
Come On Offense We Gotta Slapp Heavy-B!!!
It doesn’t take a washed up catcher to know the Braves have been feeding the announcers and this website with anti-Yunel crap.
June 30th, 20097:18 pm
Turner Field practically empty. As it should be.
I’d rather hear nothing than “Let’s go Overrated-Team!”
Let’s go Marteeeeeeeen.
Loaf can still hit
June 30th, 20097:19 pm
Not having Nate and Yunel in the lineup is killing us……
Not a good start by Blanco.
Perhaps when Escobar was saying “It’s no good”, he thought the reporter was asking about his attitude and ability to focus?
June 30th, 20097:20 pm
Man, Blanco really sucks. I hate that after watching his relative impotence last year in lineup he’s somehow found his way into the starting lineup again.
atleast blanco worked a full count.
I just love the way Blanco works the count……….he is good on that. Braves will get rid of that guy……..but I can assure you he will become a very good leadoff hitter.
June 30th, 20097:21 pm
Agreed Get B Jones Up here…Blanco Blows, but at least he worked the count
June 30th, 20097:22 pm
THANK YOU PaulLentz.
On another note, this lineup is much better than the usual one. Maybe Bobby Cox is reading this blog on how to improve our run production.
I’m gonna go out on a limb and say we are definitely gonna win this game with better run production..just watch and see!
We could’ve had one of Purke, Matzek, Turner, or Miller for 5.575 million. (PWH)
Hell they haven’t even signed Minor yet and they drafted him cause he was supposedly cheaper.
Here We Go With those Damn Amstel Light Commercials…!
Blanco is A LOT better than KJ for this team. End of discussion.
Could Chipper be slumping because of NOT being on the DL….I mean it’s a crazy idea but this year has got to be the first where he played almost every game in June.
Shane (The original)
June 30th, 20097:23 pm
Did anybody mention Blanco worked the count?
"Chef" Tim Dix
NEWS FROM THE FUTURE…7/1/09
Hey, I might not hit worth a damn, but I can sure work the count. At least I didn’t tell Bobby “no good” tonight!
June 30th, 20097:24 pm
I cant believe that Diory Hernandez is our best option after Yunel…… he cant hit and his defense is below average.
We can’t let this fat boy get out of the inning without at least a run.
Not liking the offense so far. I know it’s just one inning but I didn’t like what I saw.
How did that guy catch that in the sun like that? He’s on steroids no doubt.
I mean he is hitting .143 but the way he works the count is a thing to behold!!!!
Wow………they just said we are the only team with a player that has hit 10 HR in Braves uni this season.
Man…Chipper’s average is below .290. It’s…just.not.right.
Gregor Blanco worked me real good!
Good play Prado!
What a play!
He’s slow but I’ll take it.
June 30th, 20097:25 pm
Gotta love the shift. Great play.
Good Play Martin…That play was not rountine…
I take that back, I was thinking of Norton. Both KJ and Blanco’s OBP sucks, Blanco’s sucks even worse.
June 30th, 20097:26 pm
Roman Gal, what is Chipper’s OBP?
Gregor might not give you a lot but he does work the count often and usually makes contact and that’s a hell of a lot more than you can say for Schafer and DH and Jeff and oh yeah, Kelly Johnson.
Steve from OH
June 30th, 20097:27 pm
Jared–RG is fully aware of Chipper’s OBP.
At least no one scored
Wow, Blanco totally misplayed that. Think he shoulda had it.
Send Blanco Down NOW!!! No excuse for That!!!
Excuse me while I take that back.
Blogger Formely Known as Unknown
Maybe I should have told Bobby “no good” tonight!
At least he works the count.
Nate would’ve had it.
Nice [expeltive deleted] defense Gregor!
What was everyone just saying about Blano? Something about him not being as bad for the team as…
June 30th, 20097:28 pm
That was fugly Blanco.
Rodney, I don’t know what to tell you, other than he told me, two TV stations, and everyone else within listening range (including MLB.com writer) that he did NOT wear the stupid underwear today. Did not. Negatory. No. Period.
Is Brandon Jones on the DL?
That’ll probably do it.
Gotta love the errors. Not sure how I feel about the walk.
I wouldn’t go there to be honest. Unless the runner made it to second which I’m guessing he did.
Rob from SC
June 30th, 20097:29 pm
How many extra runs does our defense give up
Come on Braves.
How was that not an error?
June 30th, 20097:30 pm
No Brandon Jones is not on the DL
ave you ever WATCHED Prado play defense? He’s horrible. (PWH)
yes I have, a hell of a lot more than you have and he is not horrible. But hey I was just a scout making my living evaluating talent, you are obviously the damn expert. with all that book baseball knowledge you spout. The guy is NOT a horrible defender. He is also NOT a great defender, but he is NOT what you claim him to be and there is no way in hell that the small sample size he has in the bigs is a meaningful stat.
I misjudged the flyball. Why should I have an error? It is Lowe’s fault he didn’t strike out the guy!
As I watch this team lately all I can think of is the Cleveland fans in Major League – “Who the hell are these guys”.
Yeahh Good DP…!!!
no Jared he hit a key double in the comeback win for the Gwinnett Braves
Good job Lowe
Nice going Lowe.
here we go folks somthing is wrong with Lowe we need a double play or we lose. all they need is 2 runs and were out of a game
Chipper really needs to work on his defense.
low throw, but nice dp
Whew. Way to go D-Lowe, Chipper, & CK.
June 30th, 20097:31 pm
Don’t get up people. It was just an inning ending double play.
Great job by Lowe to get out of the Blanco-induced mess.
Your Atlanta Braves … made up of more spare parts than a salvage yard.
Does Chance the Manager really and truly believe that the Braves are a better team with Blanco in CF as opposed to Diaz? Blanco brings nothing to the table. Diaz at least can hit. As I write this, Blanco butchers a ball in center. Way to go Booby.
At some point this season, KJ is going to hit to his established level. Prado, on the other hand, is never going to be much of an offensive contributor. Might as well let KJ work his way out of his slump. At least he walks sometimes.
Don’t care how close the Braves are to the division lead. As long as the Nose Picker in Chief is also the Decider in the Dugout, this team is headed for a 4th place finish in the division.
Chances are at least 50-50 that the Braves’ season ends this week. Hope I’m wrong. Maybe the rotation will make up for all the other problems, most of all the genius Hall of Fame manager.
Yeah, Blanco’s not going to win any Gold Gloves, people. But at least he hits a ton….
Rodney, by “MLB guys,” are you referring to the TV people? Because I just asked Bowman, and he didn’t write that. He was told same as the rest of us — he didn’t wear them.
If you’re listening to what MLB TV guys are saying, you’re hearing info that’s second-hand. They’re just reading what was supposed to happen (i.e., he said he was going to wear them) and not what actually happened. The network has no representative here, so they wouldn’t know until they read later what we’ve written (or unless they came on the blog and saw it already).
I thought Chipper was going to screw that one up.
It’s only an error if there’s a reasonable expectation that you make the play. In Blanco’s case, there is no reasonable expectation that he makes a play, even on a ball hit directly at him when he doesn’t have to move aimed directly at his glove.
That’s the nice thing about Blanco, actually. It’s impossible for him to commit an error because he’s never expected to make a play.
June 30th, 20097:32 pm
Lowe looks like his sinker has good movement tonight.
Now its Jeffs underware, you have a serious problem…
Yunel probaly wants to be traded
Even at near league min Yunel probaly makes 4 times what you do for playing baseball 6 months a yr.
Press one for english…
Because scorers don’t penalize players for being slow or misjudging flyballs.
Interesting stat from Joe, the Braves are the only team to not have a player hit 10 home-runs. Thats embarrassing. Doesn’t surprise me, this is one of the worst offensive lineups ive ever seen put on a field.
1. Blanco – need I say more? He wouldn’t be on any other teams minor league squad, also cant field particularly well.
2. Prado – career .280 hitter which isn’t bad but no speed or power and limited defensive range.
3. Chipper – old, slow, no power, declining stats, bad defense, and piss poor attitude.
4. McCann – overrated in general but is a good offensive catcher, bad defensively.
5. Garrett – old, bad defense, slow, no power.
6. Kotchman – Worst offensive 1B in the majors, slow, absolutely NO power.
7. Frenchy – need I say more?
8. Diory – Horrible hitter, career minor leaguer, decent defender, no speed or power.
KJ – sucks equally in the field and at the plate.
Diaz – hustles but not great defensively, swings at everything, career .270 hitter with minimal power.
McLouth – decent average but all around good player now injury bug has taken him out.
Yunel – good hitter, good defender, piss-poor attitude but along with McLouth & McCann, he is one of the 3 bright spots.
June 30th, 20097:33 pm
Do the official scorers at Turner Field have access to an open bar? There have been some questionable scoring decisions on this homestand.
Wayne in Utah
Whassupp tonight Braves fans?
Nolie, you know the youngsters on the blog have to say everybody is horrible. Please don’t tell them they are wrong, it might harm their pschye!
Jeff Bennett can take his “sweet A$$” time coming back (I hope the moron never comes back).
Yeah, Blanco’s not going to win any Gold Gloves, people. But at least he hits a ton…. DOB
June 30th, 20097:34 pm
Damn, Victorino’s got some wheels.
It certainly seems that way doesn’t it?
Wow…a centerfielder that can catch. How ’bout that?
Now DOB’s making fun of Blanco. I won’t stand for that.
Maybe DL shouldn’t have walked that alien looking dude. Ever think of that?
you know the youngsters on the blog have to say everybody is horrible. Wayne in Utah
Now, wait a minute…
One thing is HOF Chipper Jones taking himself out of the lineup and another thing is an immature child taking himself out of the lineup
I think Yunel is really injured and he doesn’t want to go out there and play injured. I think that is a good thing. Sometimes pain is distracting. (KIRK)
I’ve thought that all along, and i certainly hope it to be true cause the other possibility that YE sat out and weakened the lineup even more because of a snit is really not acceptable
June 30th, 20097:35 pm
Crap our only two hitters smoked it right at them. Now we wait three more innings for them to get up again to have a chance to score.
Well, well it’s Loafy’s birthday. Happy Birthday. Now do something.
Did you know fish has swept the nats this season? 12-0
AWFense Please Don’t Make Heavy-B Look Like S. Carlton…Dizam!
June 30th, 20097:36 pm
“4. McCann – overrated in general but is a good offensive catcher, bad defensively.”
I can’t even comment on that it’s so stupid.
Put THAT in your Krotch and smoke it.
