The most disturbing thing about Jeff’s underwear is that they were BRIEFS. I mean, I haven’t seen boys printed briefs since my little brother wore underoos when he was like, 4. I didn’t know they even made printed briefs.

here’s what I love. Leadoff single by Blanco, waste Prado’s bat by doing another stupid sacrifice, taking Chippers bat out of his hand essentially, and not scoring a run
I bet teams love playing against Bobby, they only have to get two outs per inning with all the crap bunting calls. Prado hit a HR last time up and is 2-3 with 2 rbis and we just give them an out. This is unreal

I liked the bunt call. You get a runner in scoring position with Chipper and McCann having a chance to knock him in. Two guys who hit .350 (guess) with RISP. Raises the possibility of scoring a run significantly. I’ll take the out for base trade.

Raises the probability of scoring one run, yes, but also the probability that they don’t give Chipper anything to hit. It also lowers our overall run expectancy, which is why I’m not a fan of it. Looks like one run might be huge here, but multiple runs would be even better.

While some of us get frustrated with the tactics of Bobby Cox, most of us realize that no manager is perfect, and that Bobby has attributes that others don’t. Is he the best manager for this team? That is not for you or me to determine, but for Frank Wren.
When Frank wants my opinion, I suspect he will call. We have somebody on the blog ocassionally that you would relate to. His name is Robert. Look him up sometimes.
Now, everybody knows you don’t like Bobby Cox, nor do you want him to manager one more inning. We get it.
We also get it that you are a bit shallow in your baseball IQ. So, a bit of friendly advice: Stoppped trying to match wits with some of the best of the blog (I certainly don’t include myself with those distinguished persons, but I know better than to call them idiots).

One more run is all you need at this point with our pen. Give them some breathing room and you can shut the door. Plus, if they don’t pitch to Chipper then you get man on 1st and 2nd with McCann, hardly a bad move. With the way GA has been hitting, even if they get McCann out you have a decent bat there too to drive in the lead runner. It applies pressure on them to get you out, instead of you having to string together hits to score a run. Prado doesn’t advance the runner 2/3 times at least. Take the certainty and apply the pressure.

Yeah and I alluded to that in my post. Sorry if that wasn’t clear. I’m a fan of the tactic when we need one and only one run or if the pitcher is batting, but otherwise not so much. It was a bit of a tweener situation as to whether we really needed only one run with one inning to go before Gonzo/Soriano.

keylargo, any time you bunt you’re giving away outs. Playing for 1 run isnt always the best idea, but its the only thing we know how to do. Hell, half the time we cant even get the bunt down correctly. Also by advancing the runner you are opening a base and keeping the pitcher from throwing good pitches to Chipper. Earlier in the game we bunted runners over for Derek Lowe. Last time I checked thats probably a terrible idea also. We cant ever have a big inning because were always giving away outs

For all this talk of Francoeur “hitting the ball better lately”, even with his 2 for 4 night, he’s only batting .252, which is only 8 points higher than his season low of .244. Basically Francoeur is just a .250 singles hitter.
While David Wright may only have 5 homers this year, he is hitting .340 with 23 doubles, 3 triples, 20 stolen bases, and 42 RBIs for the season. I could live with the lack of “power” that David Wright is experiencing because he contributes in other ways. Francoeur cant contribute offensively if he isnt hitting for power.
Meanwhile, Gonzalez hangs another one, this time Mayberry hit it out.
