Oops, Roman Gal, shouldn’t have said “moonwalk.” Coach says we’re not allowed to talk about it. Wouldn’t want to get on his sh!t list like Lew. Poor Lew.

Words also banned by Coach: “Beat” “it” “Thriller.” Hence, baseball games are never #3s, teams do not get #1ed, and…I can’t think of anything snarky for #2.

I expect someone has already answered this question but I have not seen the response.

What do you think of promoting Chris Burke to play SS and trading Escobar for an OF? Can u think of any teams that might be willing to take a SS for a quality OF? I suspect team chemistry is affecting the Braves even though McCann said this is the “funnest” team he has been on.

Jman, Hate to break it to you, but FW ain’t trading Javy for any prospects. That would defeat the whole purpose of signing him. The only pitchers that will be dealt if any, are Gonzo and Soriano, and that is only if he has no chance to sign them to an extension. That being said, ATL don’t have to many options unless he is willing to deal one or all of the “Untouchables”. If FW does that, there goes our farm system, and there goes our future.

My point is simple, too. You need run production and run prevention to win. JV gives more run prevention than JD gives run production, statistically. JD is under contract for only one more season. You can get much more value for Vazquez, period.

Steve from OH,
If you don’t judge a pitcher by his W-L record, what can you judge him by? I mean, it’s his job to win the game. If he’s not winning games he must not be doing his job. This is the National League, the pitchers hit too. It’s every bit as much their fault when they lose. If they don’t pitch a shutout they don’t deserve to win.

N8… I said trade Vazquez to the Brewers and the Brewers send the white sox prospects. The fact that the White Sox once had Javy means nothing to this deal.

Bill (SC), Sounds interesting, but it would have to be a power bat that is controlled for the next 2-3 years. I don’t see that happening with ATL having so much trouble scoring runs. If Escobar is dealt, it will be because of these past 2 months. And if ATL wants him gone that bad they will take little or nothing for him.

There are no bats to be found right now. That is optional to change. One bat will not make the difference with this team we need at least 2. A RF and a2B. I don’t think that can bve done this year and us still have a chance at contending.

We have the pitching to contend next year, and either Huddy or Javy will be gone. I don’t think this is the season to make trades in hopes of not making it past the first round of the play offs. One bat is not going to turn ATL around. ATL needs 2.

not offended. Just want you guys to see my point. It’s not as risky as trading 3 prospects for a guy like Dye. It’s replacing big salary with a big salary and a bat. I’d prefer getting a package of prospects for Vazquez too, but only if the braves are completely out of it. If they’re not then try to get to the playoffs. Fortunately for the rest of us, that time is not quite here yet. Like it or not, and despite all of Coach’s pontificating about “done” and “.600 ball” or whatever, we’re 5 games out in a pretty crappy division. We’re not done yet. Are we close? You bet. Will a nice winning streak put us in 1st? Probably, with the suckitude of Philly’s rotation and the Mets having more injuries than Ryan Freel. So the time to discuss trading JV isn’t here yet.

Dye would certainly help us, but only if he parachuted into Turner and KO’ed Francoeur mid-inning and took his place. Or if we simply traded a bunch of mediocre prospects for him. Like the McLouth deal. I don’t see FW trading Javy or any important piece for a rental. I don’t think that’s a chance worth taking. We have the pitching in place to contend for at least the next 2.
