I think the Braves need to work on re-structuring VAZQUEZ’s contract (add a year or two and make the money less per year) that way we have another two million or so to play with for an outfielder….then trade for a POWER bat in the outfield (THIS YEAR)

Vazquez is a horse and I’d like to see him stay

Oh yeah, there just had to be. A hitter like BMac doesn’t look that bad at the plate unless something’s up…at least that’s the way my sometimes-overreactive self has always felt…

Any player trying to play through the flu is not going to have a good time, but yeah, with ten pounds of gear on? Ugh…

Tom O’Hawke

Alrighty then…

That is pretty funny…wonder what kind of car BMac has these days…

Tom-

Apparently this season is lost (even though we are 4 games back with 90 left), we are trading everyone except Mac for prospects, running the Gwinnett team out as the Major league Braves, firing Frank Wren, Roger McDowell, Terry Pendleton and/or Bobby Cox dependng on the day, oh, and according to Robert, Cox is the single worst manager of all time and should have been fired in 1993. So no, unless Mac learns how to play all 9 positions, we don’t have any players left. (I guess not much has changed since you wandered off to your summer abode…and just out of curiosity, Bear? Legit? Seemed to be…) How long you back for?

Well, a bad Friday night would be to watch Mr.Knock Knees Beckett spin another gem at us…a good one would be to knock Mr.Knock Knees out by the 3rd/4th inning. I can talk smack about Beckett because he has a bad attitude and thinks he’s God’s gift to pitchers.

ChipperFan:

I know what you are saying. It’s just that so many on here so optimistic that they are so very unrealistic. I hate to admit it, but the Mets fans are right…in the coming weeks they will have the best acquisitions of any team in baseball–from the DL. When you look at over-all team performances, the Braves are still more than 1 trade away from competing.

Hey, McFann— “You have to keep in mind, like Chipper supposedly said in a radio interview, teams are gonna continue to pitch around him until McCann and Anderson start hitting. (I wish this Blog had a “puke” emoticon.)

Where did you get this from? I can’t believe that Chipper would have said that. Not in a million years. He must have been misquoted.

Smoltz still does his thing shagging balls in the outfield during batting practice. He’s out in left-center, in a fielding position, about 30 feet in front of the Cy Young’s picture on that outfield-wall mural of players from the different eras of the franchise. (Did you who’ve not been to Turner Field in the past couple years know Cy Young pitched for the Boston Rustlers? Did you know there was such a thing as the Boston Rustlers in the lineage of this franchise? Well, there was.)

Even so, I’m not really that high on A. Escobar, Efrim. Love Gamel, but as of yet he really doesn’t have a position and I’m not sold that Escobar will ever hit for enough power in the bigs. Though if his glove is as good as advertised he’ll be a good player. If we could get the two of them, deal Y. Escobar for a big package, and maybe use Gamel in a corner OF spot or 1B? Then yes, those are moves I probably make.

Steve, yeah, I see your point. Neither are slam dunks because of Escobar’s bat and Gamel’s lack of a position. For the member that suggested that Escobar should make the All Star team, here is why he probably won’t.. While his numbers stack up to every other NL SS, he is to dramatic, and to much of a whiner..

I like Escobar, and I like what he brings to this team, I just think he needs to grow up.. That is why pitchers throw at him often.. That is why Joe Simpson talks down on him during the games like he did last night.. Plain and simple, he needs to grow up..
