Torchwood? Never heard of it, but I don’t watch much TV other than baseball, the news, and cartoons so not a big surprise. (Salamander)

It’s a BBC production Sci-fi show that takes place in Cardiff. Originally a spinoff from Dr Who I believe a few years ago. I watch no tv at its scheduled times. I download a lot burn them to DVD and watch a bunch of the same show at one time.

you know, the funny thing is that there are a whole lot of TV shows that I like on now. I never used to watch it much, but I like detectives, forensics etc so now is as good as it gets for me. I just refuse to watch them except at my convenience. Gee I wish the recordable DVD had been invented first instead of all those messy blurry tape types. God knows how often I’ve recopied some of that stuff through different formats. Now that I’ve gotten so old that I will never have the time to rewatch all the product I own, I have the nearly perfect format top (not) watch them on.

Haha Tom!

What can I say? I like animated gibberish… Really only 2 cartoons which I like:

(1) Venture Brothers – probably my favorite show on TV
(2) Family Guy

The plot holes are just as big (if not bigger) on cartoons, but they bother me less than shows with real people.. I hate most of the rest of the stuff that’s on TV, and pretty much everything that comes out of Hollywood.

Partially British? I’m culturally American (been here a while), but my passport is still issued by the United Kingdom.

Well the blog ate my post adding to my comments regarding TV shows… anyway, I like British detective shows (Inspector Morse was one of my favorite), but Americans shows are overly dramatic and generally implausible. When people put CSI on I want to die a quick death… hate that show. Law and Order is OK, but I’ve seen most of them at this point.

UGA, how’s that for financial advice? And, shut up about your freakin’ wife (jealous much?). I’m on a computer after midnight, on a weekend, and was kicked out of the bar last night, empty-handed, for being “obnoxious.” On the other hand, please elaborate on this Maria Bello look-alike.

CaBravesFan,

I’ve always enjoyed your Saturday-Fox rants. At the moment, I’m thinkin’ a day off from watching this team might be a good thing. Does this make me a bad fan?

Run Heap Run,

I’ve never checked the vent, but great find about Bennett’s pitching/non-pitching hand.

Though, I am conflicted. A month or so ago, I posted that he needed to go. Then, he threw me a ball during BP in San Francisco (let’s not ask why a 31-year-old was asking for a ball during BP). And, he actually pitched far better for a while. Lately, not so much.

I am starting to think that he would do better if Bobby would stop using him as the ground-ball guy. Bases empty, I tkink he’d be serviceable.

Robert,

I get the feeling that come the All-Star break we’re gonna get what we all want…and that is a house cleaning by Frank Wren.

If Kansas City wants Jeff Francoeur so bad, then hell…we’ll take 2 or 3 prospects for him, and they don’t have to be their top prospects. Maybe a couple middle tier prospects and one current player on their 40-man roster. KC has a pitcher at the AA level named Greg Holland that I have heard mentioned recently, the word is that he is very close to making the majors as a reliever that throws mid to high 90’s gas. We’ll gladly take him now in the pen so we can give Jeff Bennett the pink slip.

Then on top of that we package Gonzo and Kelly Johnson (if not Kelly, then maybe Matt Diaz) to a suitable contender for prospects and a major leaguer.

As far as a new manager, I’m ready for Bobby to go home. All due respect to the man but it’s time. And when he goes, I don’t want any of his guys (TP or Eddie Perez) taking..we need to completely clean the slate…that may be something that would have to wait till the off-season.

The bravery of the Celts in battle is legendary. They often spurned body armour, going naked into battle. Celtic society was typically more equal in terms of gender roles. Women were on more or less equal footing as men, being accomplished warriors, merchants and rulers. Other Roman historians tell us more of the Celts. Diodorus notes that:

Bronze ShieldTheir aspect is terrifying…They are very tall in stature, with rippling muscles underSpear head clear white skin. Their hair is blond, but not naturally so: they bleach it, to this day, artificially, washing it in lime and combing it back from their foreheads. They look like wood-demons, their hair thick and shaggy like a horse’s mane. Some of them are clean-shaven, but others – especially those of high rank, shave their cheeks but leave a moustache that covers the whole mouth and, when they eat and drink, acts like a sieve, trapping particles of food…The way they dress is astonishing: they wear brightly coloured and embroidered shirts, with trousers called bracae and cloaks fastened at the shoulder with a brooch, heavy in winter, light in summer. These cloaks are striped or checkered in design, with the separate checks close together and in various colours.

Bronze Helmet[The Celts] wear bronze helmets with figures picked out on them, even horns, which made them look even taller than they already are…while others cover themselves with breast-armour made out of chains. But most content themselves with the weapons nature gave them: they go naked into battle…Weird, discordant horns were sounded, [they shouted in chorus with their] deep and harsh voices, they beat their swords rhythmically against their shields.

Celtic HelmetOrdinary Celtic soldiers, often naked except for golden neck torcs, worked themselves into a fury before entering into battle and then fought wildly like beasts. After battle a victorious Celt would ride off with the heads of slain enemies dangling from the neck of his horse. Later, the heads would be nailed to the doors of their homes or embalmed with cedar oil in order to be publicly displayed. Typically, this preservation treatment of heads was reserved for distinguished, high-ranking enemies. Diodorus also describes how the Celts cut off their enemies’ heads and nailed them over the doors of their huts, as Diodorus states:

In exactly the same way as hunters do with their skulls of the animals they have slain…they preserved the heads of their most high-ranking victims in cedar oil,
keeping them carefully in wooden boxes

I think if I had this blog, I’d do it nearly the same. My only change would be stand-up material in place of the music. Luckily, for the world, I’m too lazy to do it. Tom Petty is hosting this show on X M as we speak. He just played “True Love Ways” , by Buddy Holley (sp). I’m 31 and grew up listening to late 60’s and early 70’s. I morphed into jazz rock and progessive jazz.

The thing is, the more I listen to music, the more I want to go back into time. Is that weird? I really loved the “original” version of “True Love Ways”. I thought it was a “Peter and Gordon” original. It’s just that I want to go back to the beginning, rather than what’s happening now. Am I messed up? Is that normal, or abnormal? Don’t worry, I’ll only consider answers from a select few of you.

And, to the dude who said the Braves might be on Fox on the west-coast tomorrow: I appreciate you givin’ me the palpitations, I really do. Luckily, I’ve checked, and I get The Great Chicago Rivalry, so I can go play golf, all the while knowing that when I return, even if the Braves have lost, I won’t have to watch another error, or another 0-2 strike, or another Jeff Francoeur broken-bat.

Sorry to the folks who don’t want use of that word. I tried, I really did. I even backspaced to go with numbletard. How are we four games back? Unreal.

Ya know, it’d be awful fitting for the Braves to get hot, slide into the Wild Card real late, and win a World Series. How many times, over the years, were they head-and-shoulders better than the rest of the league, only to get beat by a hot team in post-season? I imagaine I could cope with the other side of that particular coin.

Then, of course, is the fact that we’ve all seen this team play half a season, and that this scenario is nearly as likely to happen with Washington as it is with us. But a drunk can dream right?

OK, nolie, I understand, but did you have to shout it all (TOM)

shouting is all caps. bolding is just above normal vocal levels, besides at that time of night I couldn’t remember what to include to italicize- the entire thing was a quote-.so I bolded. Now of course i remember.

I saw that RG, glad you went, and sorry you had to endure Red Sox Nation. I only said that ’cause you posted earlier about having an Anders, on his knees, servicing important clients post, ready tomorrow (told ya, I got nothin’…but there’s something there…Chop Chop or bubd could work with that.

Tom, the sad part, for me, is that I think I’m being perfectly clear. Perhaps if I drank less, my posts would make more sense. Or, maybe a drink or two would help your comprehension. Or, more likely, you understand best when hitting on any and all female members of the blogosphere.

willieg, I’d like to propose trading two of your posts for one of wilymo’s. Wily, tell me Soriano is smilin’ at the way he’s throwing right now. That cutter is awesome; I’ve long doubted his slider, thought it was too slurvish, but that cut is Mariano-like.

Aaah, thanks for the clarification, RG.

And, I checked the links, bet where’s the conjoined line? Sounds like a good line, even if it came from a “Robert.”
