I know Mitchell. Just get tired of people whining that we don’t win because of “breaks”. Good teams make their own breaks, and the bad calls even out over a 162 game schedule.
Bad decisions (who pitches) by the manager, mental errors, poor defense, poor AB’s, etc… are an on-going theme with this team.
Besides, even as a Braves fan, I was aware of the fact that Glavine and Maddux got a LOT of calls that other pitchers weren’t getting in the 90’s on the outside corners.
That was a VERY nice AB by Jeff. Swung for the fenses on the first two pithces. But after he was down 0-2, his approach seemed more collected.
The sad thing is, is that the 0-2 slider was a hanger. If Jeff would be willing to go to RF, that was a pitch that he could hammer the other way. Maybe not for a HR, but for a double down the RF line, just by going that way and flicking his rists at it. Pujols would have put that pitch about 30 rows deep in RF.
But in the end, it was a very nice AB by him. More of that will go a long way this year.
That was a good at-bat (the first swing not withstanding). I have to agree with Joe Simpson this time. Francoeur put some good wood on that one.
I think that the camera man did a boo boo. While showing Francoeur in the dugout during the pitching change, it “looked” like Francour picked up a bag of chewing tobacco.
Do any of you know if Francoeur does indeed chew the tobacco?
Well…they did atleast give themselves a chance here. I woiuld guess they would bring in Diaz to pinch-hit, so we couldn’t really ask for the better guys to be coming to the plate with the game on the line.
I wonder if anyone in the park other than KJ thought he was going to get anything other than that cutter on the fist? I mean Rivera doesn’t even have another pitch! He gets ahead of lefties, he shoots one outside then busts ‘em on the fist with the cutter.
If your dumb@$$ would have read DOB’s post or payed attention Prado has been playing hurt and needs rest…he ph and he was taken out because he can’t run well.
I am really excited about how Kawakami has pitched lately. He showed no fear of the Yankees or Red Sox. He might be a keeper. This game changed when he got hurt.
See, here’s the problem with say “Sh!t happens” – It’s 6-4 now. The HOFer shouldn’t have brought Loser Bennett in with the bases loaded AND then compounded the issue by bringing him BACK out the next inning. Then, the UMP screws up and costs the braves another 2 runs. So we’ve got AT LEAST 3 runs, if not 5 invested in either bad ump calls or poor managing by the ole HOFer.
Yeah, Sh!t happens sometimes, but this much sh!t in one game makes some of us a little cranky.
I keep calling Game Over because the Braves Keep Teasing Us…Much like they did in the last Boston Game
The Offense Tries to come back then We proceed to Go out the next inning and then get a combo of Dumb Defense/Mental Errors/F’d Up calls by the Umps To decide the game…
I think you gotta blame DOB for BMac’s bad game. I mean he comes out today and calls him one of the best offensive catchers of all time and he has a 3 strikeout game. Good job DOB!
At some point though if the Braves really want to go on a winning strek, and with our starting pitching they can do that, they can’t keep making all these mental errors. I’m curious just how many runs our infielders and pitchers and catchers has cost us this year.
