Bobby Cox would have to improve to just suck.

And Braves have worse fundamentals than a little league team.
They don’t play smart. But nobody cares. Certainly not Bobby Cox. That’s what is called a “players’ manager.:

KJ did exactly what he was supposed to do, Mac did exactly what he was supposed to do (i.e. hit the runner in the back because he was out of the lane) Ump failed badly doing what he was supposed to do

Poorjeff, the Yankees aren’t a good team. They have always gotten the calls. Throughout the history of the game, always.

They built a dynasty in the ’90s on an egregious fan interferrence call. Not to defend the Cubs because they suck and their fans are low-lifes but a fan famously interferes with a ball in a playoff game and it costs them a chance to go to the World Series. Not surprisingly though, Cubs fans vidictively turn on one of their own.

But while everybody else gets robbed the Yankees get help when they don’t even need it.

God I hate Chip Carey! “In all fairness my azz!”

Ump didn’t lose this if the Braves do lose, but Chip doesn’t need to be making excuses for a bad call because the ump was stylin’ on the out call at the plate instead of continuing his obligation on the play.

This isn’t about whether clutch exists or not. Whether it’s the ninth inning or the first inning, within 1 run or 4, whatever, Tex hits the same. The numbers are there, man. I don’t know why you’re being so difficult about this. You’re remembering situations in which he failed more than he succeeded–and the numbers say he succeeded equally in every situation. I’m sorry, but I think you’re way off base. Not trying to pick on you because I generally enjoy your posts, but IMO there is just no way in hell that Tex is “not clutch.”

And I do think you are being a bit unfair. From the day he was brought here he was expected to homer in every single PA and hit a 2-run double every time we were down 1 in the ninth. It don’t work that way, man. Tex has hit better with 2 outs and RISP and in the ninth inning throughout his career than Brian McCann has. Are you saying Mac isn’t clutch? Because he is. And if Mac is very good–nay, great–with RISP and 2 outs, and Tex is statistically better, how can it logically follow that Tex is somehow not good in those situations? If Tex’s numbers when during “late and close” situations and when the game is within one run are better than Mac’s, how can Tex logically be bad at hitting in the clutch?

Oh, and here’s the real gem–Tex is BETTER with RISP/2 outs than Chipper. Tex is better in “late and close” than Chipper. Again, logic man. I think Chipper and Mac are a helluva pair of clutch hitters. But I think Tex is too. If you don’t, I think it’s because you won’t accept it rather than you don’t believe it. I think for you it’s personal. For me, it’s not. I don’t care who Tex is or what team he plays for, I think he’s a helluva ballplayer. And I’d like to see someone bring up any stats that disagree with that assessment. Because I haven’t found too many.

So for the Yankees to win they have to:
1. Hurt the starting pitcher
2. Get a manager thrown out
3. Have there catcher talking all night and hit his 1st homer all season
4. Get some help from the Umps
5. Get some help from the Braves

And that translates to a whopping 6 runs. There killing us man, this Yankee machine.

If I may put my $0.02 cents in to your and Tomahawkin’s WWF/WWE convo on two blogs ago or so……

I grew up being more a 80’s WWF era fan, myself (Hulk Hogan, Macho Man, Jake the Snake Roberts, Miss Elizabeth :>), Ultimate Warrior..just to name a few). Hulk Hogan was and always will be my all-time favorite wrestler (I still get pumped when I hear is famous ring intro music *I’m A Real American*…and Miss Elizabeth (I hate Lex Luger) will always be my all-time favorite lady of wrestling.

I was tho a huge fan of the Stone Cold Steve Austin, Debra, Mick Foley, Sable, Rock era.

There will never be two era’s of WWF/WWE again.
