The casual brave fans only wants to go to one game. Most of the fans @ Yankee stadium or Fenway want to go to 81 games a year. I’m one of a few that actually go to about a dozen games a year, which is extremely uncommon here. My point is, most families don’t want to buy tickets for 2 games to see the Braves, but the Yankee fans are willing to b/c they don’t get to see their squads hardly at all.

I’m pretty sure Prado is a natural 2nd baseman to be exact. That’s where he played in the minors. In his last full season there (2007) he had a .995 fielding % in 86 games at 2nd base.
Prado has never been a “utility” guy. In fact, Bobby has turned him into one because of his bat, and because scouts labeled him as having “slick hands”. In 485 games in the minors, Prado played 421 of those at 2nd base, 55 at 3rd base, 8 games at SS, and only 1 in LF.
In the past 2 seasons, he’s learned LF, 1B, and gotten more time at SS and 3rd. This season, he’s played only 5 games at 2nd, while he’s played 17 at 3rd, and 16 at 1st….which happens to be a total reversal of what he played in the minors. He played LF entirely in the winter leagues this past offseason because he knew the Braves need a RH outfield bat. I love Prado…he’s totally a team player and he himself realizes (and has said as much himself) he need to be more well-rounded to get more PT and to stick around in the majors. That’s why he hangs around Infante all the time.
When Infante comes back, we’ll have 2 utility guys. Most teams don’t even have 1. I would presume one of the two would become an every day player, while the other will stick as a “utility” guy.
This is getting redundant as I posted this like 10 times last year, but before the 2007 season, the Braves had a tryout in ST for the 2nd base job. KJ had just learned the position and was coming off of TJ surgery…Check out those stats and tell me who you think won. The Braves entirely went off of minor league #’s, which is why I think the new discussion of minor league numbers & such is so interesting….But as far as what position Prado plays, he’s always been a 2nd baseman, but has learned others to get more PT (he even came early to the ballpark iwith Diaz when Infante went down to take fly’s in CF!)

You are making no sense njbraves! Families go to braves games, and families either can’t afford or don’t want to make the 30m drive from the suburbs to come down here. They only want to go to one game b/c of the drive and the expense.

This is probably true, actually. I remember when we were at Game 1 of the 1999 WS, a guy from NY was telling us he flew to ATL to catch the series because a round-trip flight, hotel room and WS ticket in ATL was cheaper than just a ticket in NY. Wow, huh?

I’m surprisingly not getting on KJ this year, not as much as last year. I do think he’ll come around, whether it’s with us or someone else. I do see the potential this year…and i think most of his problems are mental, (as well as timing at the plate).
But I do think he’s toast on this team anyway with all the lefties in the lineup, so I think we’ll trade him when he starts raking again so we can get more fom him. Just my opinion, but he always was, and still is, our best trade piece, because we have many others that play his position who are RH, and other teams lack a good hitting 2nd baseman. Other bloggers here get on me for saying it, but it only makes sense….Keep in mind that eventually we’ll have an outfield of all lefties (McLouth, Heyward, Schafer), or, we won’t be limited to trading for RH power OF bat if we do trade KJ…we could then go after a LH power bat as well (which I think there’s more options available)….

I DO go to games, quite often too. However, 90 heat and likely thunderstorms don’t sound too ENTICING. Also, I usually manage to get my company tickets which are right behind first base, and even WITH free tickets I can easily drop a C-Note…which helps explain why less people are going. In addition, the Braves have been so FRUSTRATING these past few years–I was at the KJ pop-up game-that dropping that kinda $$$ is hard to swallow. I will watch on TV tonite, thank you;)

Braves fan in Vegas: DeRosa was discussed here quite a big after the Infante injury. Then Cleveland got hot for a while and it looked like they might hang onto him. But now that they’ve lost six in a row and fallen to 10 games back, last in their division, I’d look for them to start moving some parts.
Braves have always liked him, and he lives here and would love to come back. But Cleveland will be able to get plenty in return, don’t know if Braves would give up what it’ll take to get him. If they moved Francoeur, DeRo could play RF, at least well enough to get his bat in lineup.

I was at the game last night and it was pretty much 50/50 Cub fans to Braves fans. I can only imagine how many Yankee fans it is there. It is much cheaper to catch a game at the Ted over that new little league park up there that they charge an arm and a leg to get into. Once again i’m in the minority as I really don’t care how many fans they have there. I’m still going to root for my bravos. If we take care of business you make them shut-up. Last night they were chanting let’s go Cubbies about 5 different times and each time they failed to score they shut-up.

I thought Hanson was good in his last start because his “stuff” resulted in a win. I predict tonight that he’ll last 4-5 innings and allow 5-6 earned runs.Hope I’m wrong, but these are still the Yankees and Wang has been a good pitcher. Don’t be surprised if he is reverting to form and the Braves struggle mightily against him.

While it’s not ideal to have more Yankee fans that Braves fans at Turner, at least the money they’re spending is going toward the Braves’ revenues and not the Yanks. Considering the amount of beer they’ll probably consume and disorderly conduct fines they’ll have to pay, it might do Atlanta’s economy some good too.
