Pennski…that can’t be the reason. Why would anyone only want to go to one game?
June 23rd, 20096:21 pm
I love how all those carpet baggers moved down here and showed us stupid southern folk how to live right.
why not supporting jankees? all delusion?
June 23rd, 20096:23 pm
joe(shoyo wang), I’m sure Frank Wren will personally squire you from the airport if need be.
P town…Frenchy and KJ will come around….they are hitting the ball hard but just at people…still early in the season…
June 23rd, 20096:24 pm
When Kelly comes up to bat it’ll be Johnson vs. Wang
cabravesfan – making up for lost time. Quick food run.
June 23rd, 20096:25 pm
And if Bobby comes out to argue a call when Kelly’s batting, it’ll be the trifecta
The casual brave fans only wants to go to one game. Most of the fans @ Yankee stadium or Fenway want to go to 81 games a year. I’m one of a few that actually go to about a dozen games a year, which is extremely uncommon here. My point is, most families don’t want to buy tickets for 2 games to see the Braves, but the Yankee fans are willing to b/c they don’t get to see their squads hardly at all.
I’m pretty sure Prado is a natural 2nd baseman to be exact. That’s where he played in the minors. In his last full season there (2007) he had a .995 fielding % in 86 games at 2nd base.
Prado has never been a “utility” guy. In fact, Bobby has turned him into one because of his bat, and because scouts labeled him as having “slick hands”. In 485 games in the minors, Prado played 421 of those at 2nd base, 55 at 3rd base, 8 games at SS, and only 1 in LF.
In the past 2 seasons, he’s learned LF, 1B, and gotten more time at SS and 3rd. This season, he’s played only 5 games at 2nd, while he’s played 17 at 3rd, and 16 at 1st….which happens to be a total reversal of what he played in the minors. He played LF entirely in the winter leagues this past offseason because he knew the Braves need a RH outfield bat. I love Prado…he’s totally a team player and he himself realizes (and has said as much himself) he need to be more well-rounded to get more PT and to stick around in the majors. That’s why he hangs around Infante all the time.
When Infante comes back, we’ll have 2 utility guys. Most teams don’t even have 1. I would presume one of the two would become an every day player, while the other will stick as a “utility” guy.
This is getting redundant as I posted this like 10 times last year, but before the 2007 season, the Braves had a tryout in ST for the 2nd base job. KJ had just learned the position and was coming off of TJ surgery…Check out those stats and tell me who you think won. The Braves entirely went off of minor league #’s, which is why I think the new discussion of minor league numbers & such is so interesting….But as far as what position Prado plays, he’s always been a 2nd baseman, but has learned others to get more PT (he even came early to the ballpark iwith Diaz when Infante went down to take fly’s in CF!)
Did Arod seriously spend the whole night in Miami and then take a private plane to ATL…..
Tommy Hanson is catatonic
June 23rd, 20096:26 pm
Soon Tommy Hanson will face the Yankees.
They will beat him like a rented mule.
June 23rd, 20096:27 pm
don;t need all that now, but i’d take it. you’re right, lord knows the braves need it.
i love baseball, and i love the braves. why, i don’t know.
You are making no sense njbraves! Families go to braves games, and families either can’t afford or don’t want to make the 30m drive from the suburbs to come down here. They only want to go to one game b/c of the drive and the expense.
We put carpets in bags to practice putting Yankees in them.
June 23rd, 20096:29 pm
Maybe Jorge Posada will be available to give McCann some on-on-one tutoring.
We need ol Skip caray to make some Wang jokes tonight. sorta like Todd Coffey
June 23rd, 20096:30 pm
and does he do it himself. or does the trainer do it for him…. Pratt
why? you wanna volunteer?
June 23rd, 20096:31 pm
“It’s probably cheaper for them to fly to Atlanta and go to Turner Field than to try to go to new Yankee Stadium.”
This is probably true, actually. I remember when we were at Game 1 of the 1999 WS, a guy from NY was telling us he flew to ATL to catch the series because a round-trip flight, hotel room and WS ticket in ATL was cheaper than just a ticket in NY. Wow, huh?
June 23rd, 20096:32 pm
Is the game on PTV? Maybe Chip will pop a couple Wang jokes.
aww who are we kidding? He’ll just be like
Now Wang has a couple of runs with which to work after the Teixeira rule book double. Which begs the question, what is your favorite addage?
or if he gets a single something stupid like
I’m surprisingly not getting on KJ this year, not as much as last year. I do think he’ll come around, whether it’s with us or someone else. I do see the potential this year…and i think most of his problems are mental, (as well as timing at the plate).
But I do think he’s toast on this team anyway with all the lefties in the lineup, so I think we’ll trade him when he starts raking again so we can get more fom him. Just my opinion, but he always was, and still is, our best trade piece, because we have many others that play his position who are RH, and other teams lack a good hitting 2nd baseman. Other bloggers here get on me for saying it, but it only makes sense….Keep in mind that eventually we’ll have an outfield of all lefties (McLouth, Heyward, Schafer), or, we won’t be limited to trading for RH power OF bat if we do trade KJ…we could then go after a LH power bat as well (which I think there’s more options available)….
June 23rd, 20096:33 pm
If we make this Wang guy look like Greg Maddux….I’m gonna flip out. Let’s knock this jobber around! Shut up those puke Yankee fans!!
are we sure Skip and Chip are related?
June 23rd, 20096:34 pm
I DO go to games, quite often too. However, 90 heat and likely thunderstorms don’t sound too ENTICING. Also, I usually manage to get my company tickets which are right behind first base, and even WITH free tickets I can easily drop a C-Note…which helps explain why less people are going. In addition, the Braves have been so FRUSTRATING these past few years–I was at the KJ pop-up game-that dropping that kinda $$$ is hard to swallow. I will watch on TV tonite, thank you;)
Braves fan in Vegas: DeRosa was discussed here quite a big after the Infante injury. Then Cleveland got hot for a while and it looked like they might hang onto him. But now that they’ve lost six in a row and fallen to 10 games back, last in their division, I’d look for them to start moving some parts.
Braves have always liked him, and he lives here and would love to come back. But Cleveland will be able to get plenty in return, don’t know if Braves would give up what it’ll take to get him. If they moved Francoeur, DeRo could play RF, at least well enough to get his bat in lineup.
Tommy Hanson called in sick
June 23rd, 20096:35 pm
No…what’s that? His dog ate his homework?
June 23rd, 20096:36 pm
Cant wait for Hanson to get back to back Ks of Tex and A-hole
June 23rd, 20096:37 pm
Boy, Nate is gonna be tired by the end of this game
June 23rd, 20096:38 pm
“When Kelly comes up to bat it’ll be Johnson vs. Wang”
And maybe their respective teams will elect them as player reps, and they can report to the new “Head” of the MLBPA, Mr. Weiner.
Tommy Hanson will cry like a little baby
June 23rd, 20096:39 pm
After the Yankees reveal him as an unpolished novice.
June 23rd, 20096:40 pm
who has a better game tonight, JF or KJ?
what will hanson’s line be?
im going with JF and hanson will pitch 7 2/3 4 runs, 10K
June 23rd, 20096:41 pm
I’m sure Chip will be Arod-Tex all night long…. AHHHHHHHH!
June 23rd, 20096:42 pm
I was at the game last night and it was pretty much 50/50 Cub fans to Braves fans. I can only imagine how many Yankee fans it is there. It is much cheaper to catch a game at the Ted over that new little league park up there that they charge an arm and a leg to get into. Once again i’m in the minority as I really don’t care how many fans they have there. I’m still going to root for my bravos. If we take care of business you make them shut-up. Last night they were chanting let’s go Cubbies about 5 different times and each time they failed to score they shut-up.
Right now Chipper is stuffing whatever he can find up in between his cheek and gum: redman, paper clips, bubblegum, aspirin, soap, paper towels, an old sock, sod, last month’s road & track, etc…
June 23rd, 20096:47 pm
I’d like to have DeRosa’s 13 HR’s out in RF, but no way I’d give up much for him since he’s a FA soon. He’s not a prototypical cleanup guy either, so I don’t know.
June 23rd, 20096:48 pm
almost starting! expectatioion is tremdous! all eyes on jankees. could be biggest defeat ever for bobby cox. must flee city after.
June 23rd, 20096:49 pm
Do you guys agree with this? I don’t think we have an ace, but I’d take Vazquez over Lowe and Jurrjens in a one game playoff right now.
June 23rd, 20096:51 pm
If the Braves did get DeRosa, no way he gets his old number back!
braves of playing jankees is much like persians fighting alexander great. crows and vultures be eating remnants of losing side.
June 23rd, 20096:52 pm
jersey jay…the losing side will be the yankees
Nova Scotia Steve
June 23rd, 20096:53 pm
Be nice to actually see a good crowd at “The Ted” over the next few games…maybe bring back some of that old play-off style atmosphere and ofcourse it will be even more interesting to see how Los Bravos respond!!!
The first thing we’ll see when the game starts is JJ’s face in the camera with, “It’s the Braves and Yankees at Turner Field right here on PeachTree TV, BABY!”
i think with golden boy hanson pitching, especially with the hated yankees in town, however many braves fans are there will be very loud
June 23rd, 20096:54 pm
only way of stopping jankees: bobby cox putting snakes in jankee locker rooms. maybe croccodiles.
Tommy Hanson is golden
June 23rd, 20096:56 pm
Tommy Hanson slathers on the coco butter on that soft dimpled epidermis.
That’s why he’s golden!
June 23rd, 20096:57 pm
last chance for supporters of braves to renounce errors of ways and transfer to jankees only true team of baseball america. quick – still time.
June 23rd, 20096:58 pm
mcfann…espn just talked mccan…he is only throwing out runners at a 25 percent rate
"Chef" Tim Dix
June 23rd, 20096:59 pm
My boss is at the game. he’s the one wearing a Yankees cap.
And nothing else.
Let’s go Braves!!!!
Tommy Hanson is golden-
That’s why he’s golden! – 6.56.
Dude, did you type that out with your left hand?
Braves Fan 88
I thought Hanson was good in his last start because his “stuff” resulted in a win. I predict tonight that he’ll last 4-5 innings and allow 5-6 earned runs.Hope I’m wrong, but these are still the Yankees and Wang has been a good pitcher. Don’t be surprised if he is reverting to form and the Braves struggle mightily against him.
June 23rd, 20097:00 pm
question: what is purpose of jeff francoeur? secret weapon of some kind? waiting quietly to one day explosion when other team not expecting?
And by a good crowd I mean 35,000 plus…thats a decent crowd in ATL..
WOW. A Peachtree TV game on MLBEI. Very few are on MLBEI.
They did? Whoa…
Yeah, he’s improved his D a lot this year.
June 23rd, 20097:01 pm
Alright quick poll – How many annoying things do you think Chip Caray will say tonight?
Can’t wait for Hanson to strikeout BIG CHOKER!
Let’s do this Braves.
Ass kicking time.
I’m gonna go with infinity
McCann Season stats:
anyone else think that unemployed dad Just for Men commerical is stupid?
Tommy Hanson is Paul Bunyanesque
June 23rd, 20097:02 pm
From the waist down, that is.
“Vaunted New York Yankees… ” says Chip.
Give me a break, they’re a disgrace to baseball.
While it’s not ideal to have more Yankee fans that Braves fans at Turner, at least the money they’re spending is going toward the Braves’ revenues and not the Yanks. Considering the amount of beer they’ll probably consume and disorderly conduct fines they’ll have to pay, it might do Atlanta’s economy some good too.
June 23rd, 20097:03 pm
Hey, isn’t Atlanta’s record better on the road than at home? Maybe all those Yankees fans will confuse the Braves and they will think they’re on the road…
I’m watching the WWOR feed.
Well, that’s if you count pitchers picking guys off.
BMac’s actually 8-31 (26%)…hey, can’t blame ESPN for tryin’!
“Alright quick poll – How many annoying things do you think Chip Caray will say tonight?”
714–in honor of the Babe.
June 23rd, 20097:04 pm
There haven’t been this many Yankees in town since the War on Northern Aggression. Lol
Oh! I am so ready to support my favorite player Tommy Hanson.
Brian McCann better not mess up the game for him.
I am sure someone else saw the report on espn…it was relating to mccan throwing out base runners…it related to fantasy…if you need stolen bases in your fantasy..
June 23rd, 20097:05 pm
anybody wathcing the game is the crowd split 50/50 braves/yankees fans? Whats the ratio? I’m just curious ( obviously ).
Just for McCann
June 23rd, 20097:06 pm
When you don’t just want to hide the grey – when a baserunner is approaching home and you just want to hide, period!
Get Just for McCann!
Chin-Meing Wang sucks…..um…..too easy
June 23rd, 20097:07 pm
frankie knuckles…hard to say yet
Man, Chip’s sure got some huge eyebrows
wow packed house tonight at Turner Field…We’re only 502 sellouts behind the Red Sox now!!!
5% of the fans tonight are just avid tranny fans of Tommy Hanson.
June 23rd, 20097:09 pm
Chip’s eyebrows= hohn’s stache
June 23rd, 20097:10 pm
Ahhhh… I see. Let’s play ball!!!
June 23rd, 20097:11 pm
What channel is the game on? I heard it was on ESPN, but i can’t find it.
Well, that’s a little strange. The WWOR feed has crowd noise but no announcers voice.
ya know the braves haven’t been that good this year….but they aren’t that bad either. The announcers are talking like they’re some college team playing the yankees.
Never mind the bullocks
June 23rd, 20097:12 pm
here’s Tommy Hanson.
What’s the deal with McCann? Seems like he has become a only singles hitter now too. I guess the rest of the sucky lineup is rubbing off on him to, just like Chipper.
June 23rd, 20097:13 pm
I hope Tommy Hnason doesn’t go all Dave Dravecky on us!
June 23rd, 20097:14 pm
Its on Peachtree TV.
June 23rd, 20097:15 pm
Teixeira just got booed rather loudly.
Tex can hit….what if…he was a brave
If Tommy Hanson were a Viking
his name would probably be Knute.

You’re doing it Wong.
Nice first Tommy.
