Talk about not hustling! Gonzo strikes out Posada swinging on a ball in the dirt. Ball squirts away from McCann up the first base line. Posada walks back to the dug out, doesn’t even try to jog to first base, much less run. Umpire doesn’t even make McCann throw to first to record the out. Pitiful.

Casey’s defensive numbers are actually even more impressive then that- in 6 seasons (406 games, 3385 chances at 1st) he’s made a grand total of 8 errors. Total. Or 3 less then Chipper has made this year. Dude is a rock with the glove.

Doc Holiday……………If Frank Wren cant get a quality bat in the next 2 weeks, it wont be his fault. It will mean that other teams are simply asking too much and he isnt going to totally mortgage the future for a bat.
Also, you have to remember that he probably cant push the budget much further than it is now.
Still, Frank Wren has shown that he isnt afraid of making a trade. Personally I am very pleased that we have this guy as GM. He has been diligent in working the phones.
As I said a few weeks ago, there is a chance that Frank Wren will win the “Executive of the Year” award if the Braves can at least contend to late in the season. Will any of you back me up on this projection?

Any chance Bobby brought in a life-sized picture of the Frank Wren in his suit and the Bravos are peelin’ a small piece of the suit off with every win? (or maybe he’s bare, and they’re puttin clothes back on)
Peronally I’d rather them go with the life-sized Rachel Phelps, but whatever float’s these guy’s boat (especially with KJ’s intro).

For everyone…like doc, paul and others…demanding Wren to trade for more offense, who are we going get and at what price. Face it right now we are a mediocre team. We have great pitching, especially with our bullpen coming around, but the Braves bats are bitterly inconstant. Because we continue to play around .500 ball there is no reason to mortgage our farm system for the possibility that we catch fire. Rather what the Braves should do is bench Frenchy and Kelly and see what happens when Prado and Diaz play everyday. We have a talented farm system, that has the potential to make the braves very good for the future. I do not want a GM nearsighted for the hope just to make the playoffs. Granted the Tex trade doesnt look quite so bad now bc many of the pieces are struggling, but we dont need a rental or half plus one. Also people calling to trade Soriano or Gonzo for a bat are ludicrous. If we are struggling to win with a great end of the game bullpen what happens when we dont have them?

I said that because Tommy Hanson didn’t do Mac any favors by not holding the runners on (none of the Braves starters do)- It doesn’t matter how great the throw is if the runner is half way to 2nd before Mac gets the ball… (CBF)
one of the raps on Tommy has always been that he is very slow to the plate. I was hoping they had corrected that in AAA. looks like they didn’t, at least not all the way.

This is gonna get me killed here, and let me say first this isn’t an anti-Hanson post. And you certainly can’t argue with his results so far. But I’ve got to say, to this point, I don’t really see much difference between Hanson’s stuff and Jurrjen’s. (Not that that is a bad thing at all). From everything I heard, this guy had Smoltzian stuff. Well, I definitely haven’t seen the consistent bite on the slider. But what I’m really confused about is the fastball. I’m seeing 93, maybe an occasional 95. Again, very Jurrjen’s-like. And to again compare it to Smoltz- even when Smoltz was hurting, his fastball was usually 95-97 consistently. But as DOB reminded one of our Hanson-haters earlier, I’m no scout either. Anybody else agree with me, or am I way off?

It’s not just Tommy though. JJ is terrible at holding on runners, and I don’t think D Lowe & that sinker are much better. Javy is maybe a little bit better then the others, and I really haven’t noticed how KK holds runners on but overall it is not (nor has it really been in the last decade or so…) something the Braves do well
And as I type Mac goes YARD!!! Whoo Hoo!!!

ATLiens…………….I have been advocating the very thing you suggested as far as benching Francoeur and putting Matt Diaz in right field. I also stated that play Prado more at second, until Infante comes back would help the offense.
However, I got shot down for saying that. Many of posters on here said “why bench Francoeur? Diaz isnt much of an improvement”.
A LITTLE improvement (Matt Diaz) is much better than NO improvement (Francoeur).
Who was that MORON who earlier asked “why is McCann popping up so much”, lol.
In the 3rd, McCann “popped up” off the left field wall for a double. Now he “pops up” for a home run. lol.

If I were Frank Wren I would demand that Bobby Cox play Prado and Diaz inplace of Johnson and Francoeur for 10 straight games and see if our run output increases. We might not need a big bat as much as we need to get rid of dead weight. Just a thought.

All that would do is allow Wren to demand the same thing of a new interim manager. Right after the clubhouse fragmented, the whole concept of “manager” were undermined, and the rest of the coaching staff started looking for reasons not to come to the park.

i agree paul some improvement is better than none. where i get frustrated with the everyone is that they are so hot on Wren to make a move, it seems they dont even care who they give up. but the second the trade is made people bitch about what was given up. People want cake and to eat it too. It just doenst work that way. Because the Braves have been inconsistent the best move would be to use the players we have differently. That includes changing the roles of bennett, medlen, and others.
