Since he only faced one hitter, I wonder if Bobby leaves Moylan in the game to pitch the seventh.

That’s awesome. I’m loving the Braves fans in attendance tonight. They’ve been very into it this far.

cabravesfan – McCann’s made 2 throws to second tonight and BOUNCED THEM… And all you can say is, “A perfect throw and he’s still safe.”

McCann is one of my favorites on this team. However, his defense is crap.

Vinings Jim…………….I never said that Moylan cant pitch. I just felt that he would have been better off starting the season in Triple A, working on his location. I stated that Moylan wasnt “consistent” enough to pitch in tight situations in the 7th inning. One night good, one night bad. I do hope that he can put together a string of outings where he can shut the other team down.

joe(shoyo wang)………….I know that Moylan is coming off elbow surgery. That is what they have the minors for. To “rehab from injury and work on your control”. The first 2 months of the season werent pretty for Moylan.

If Moylan has shown that he can be consistent and close out innings like 2007 and early 2008 before he got hurt, then I’m all for using him in the 7th. I just wish that it didnt take 2 months of alternating a good outing with a bad outing to get his consistency. My point was that he could have gotten rocked down in the minors while working on coming back from the elbow surgery and getting his location back.

I wasnt as down on Moylan as I am on Francoeur.

McCann definitely does not look right with his throws to second, plus he couldn’t get a grip on a ball on the double steal, which went down without a throw. I think McFann is right on that he may have dinged up his hand on the concrete last night and may be having trouble gripping the ball.

But that’s not the normal McCann. He usually makes strong throws to second, but has been slow to get the ball off. He’s improved that quite alot lately, since Ross came to the Braves.

After watching JF tonight at the plate I have to say, it aint about his low BA and bad production and horrible slg, but it is about how bad he looks at the plate. He has no idea of what to do. He looks like a janitor playing in some amateur league. Doesnt even looks like a professional. He is not going to get out of it. This aint a slump. He has been figured out by ML pitching and there is no way out to it. At least not this or next year. Horrible. He just goes out there and hack at whatever they throw at him. He has learned to stay away from the low an away pitch………..a thing AJ never learned. But man……….he still looks horrible.

Paul Lentz

If Moylan can come back to his pre-injury form, then the Braves will have a STRONG 7th, 8th, and 9th inning tandem, basically turning it into a 6 inning game. With our rotation (all of whom can get through 6 innings most of the time). The key is getting this offense in order. That is why getting a slugger who can play right field and hit in the clean-up spot is imperative.

Blanco as a PH? Are we saving the better hitters for extra innings?

Paul Lentz

June 23rd, 2009
9:23 pm

Doc Holiday…………well put, totally agree with your posting at 9:19pm about Francoeur’s at-bats. As I’ve said before, both Francoeur can McCann came up around the same time in 2005. They have had the pleasure of being on the same team, taking batting practice with a great hitter in Chipper Jones. When Chipper comes to the plate, you can tell that he has a plan.

While Chipper’s approach has rubbed off on Brian McCann………..it seems that Jeff Francoeur has totally ignored a gold mine of information. You would think that in 4 years, Francoeur would have said to himself “damn, it seems to be working for my buddy McCann, let’s see if it can work for me.”.

You cann see the big scrape near his elbow from that crash…and I watched the replay earlier–he did hit his hand pretty good.
