Since he only faced one hitter, I wonder if Bobby leaves Moylan in the game to pitch the seventh.
Sttanding ovation for Hanson leaving game, tips his cap to the crowd
That’s awesome. I’m loving the Braves fans in attendance tonight. They’ve been very into it this far.
did Chip Caray drop acid before the telecast tonight? What in the heck is this boob talking about? Script? The Skipper and MaryAnn? ?????
Moylan’s coming off of elbow surgery. Lay off. he’s just now hitting his stride.
rob from sc – point taken, agree 100%. Same with Greinke story earlier this year. Good to see men being men about tough life problems.
June 23rd, 20099:08 pm
I want to see Acosta in for the 7th. No?
Did anyone see Peter pumping his fist @ the dugout!
Alright what’s the report on the Yankees pen?
rob from sc
great outing by Hanson. Keep working on command.
Do you think Moylan goes back out for the seventh and then the Yankers can run into the BUZZZ SAW that is Gonzo and Soriano?
June 23rd, 20099:09 pm
cabravesfan – McCann’s made 2 throws to second tonight and BOUNCED THEM… And all you can say is, “A perfect throw and he’s still safe.”
McCann is one of my favorites on this team. However, his defense is crap.
Boy, they’ve made a lotta low-count outs tonight.
June 23rd, 20099:10 pm
I would run Moylan out there for the 7th. He threw what, 5,6 pitches?
Great job Peter!!
Great job by our starters the last two nights pitching around trouble!
McFann – Jeff ain’t changin that..
June 23rd, 20099:11 pm
Keep in mind he slammed his throwing arm under the backstop last night…
Hmm…well, anyway, these throws tonight were his worst of the year. His previous throws hadn’t been quite as horrid.
I said that because Tommy Hanson didn’t do Mac any favors by not holding the runners on (none of the Braves starters do)- It doesn’t matter how great the throw is if the runner is half way to 2nd before Mac gets the ball…
June 23rd, 20099:12 pm
I can live with Moylan going back out… I just think that with the guys coming up for the Yanks that Medlen would be a bad match-up. I want a guy out there with some filthy “stuff” so, Moylan or Acosta.
Hope so, keylargo. Soriano sure had to throw a lot of pitches last night though…
Guess he’s proving me wrong.. Not from a lack of trying though
June 23rd, 20099:13 pm
What Kenny Chesney song does Francoeur come out to? I recognize Chesney’s voice, but not the song. Anycase, terrible entrance music.
Francine Got Caught Guessing on that one…
Keylargo – The DP was nice but it was very routine. (Even for KJ.)
I just pray to God that Bennett doesn’t come in…
June 23rd, 20099:14 pm
OK, so that wasn’t an low-count out…
I’m with you…all the way. Been sayin’ that for years. Not that it does any good…
June 23rd, 2009
I just pray to God that Bennett doesn’t come in…
Bobby Cox can’t be that stupid; could he?
June 23rd, 20099:15 pm
B-Macc Has looked bad tonight because he has been throwing on breaking balls and Credit Hanson for paying little attention to the runners…
McDowell needs to work with Hanson and Double J at holding Runners better…
Vinings Jim…………….I never said that Moylan cant pitch. I just felt that he would have been better off starting the season in Triple A, working on his location. I stated that Moylan wasnt “consistent” enough to pitch in tight situations in the 7th inning. One night good, one night bad. I do hope that he can put together a string of outings where he can shut the other team down.
joe(shoyo wang)………….I know that Moylan is coming off elbow surgery. That is what they have the minors for. To “rehab from injury and work on your control”. The first 2 months of the season werent pretty for Moylan.
If Moylan has shown that he can be consistent and close out innings like 2007 and early 2008 before he got hurt, then I’m all for using him in the 7th. I just wish that it didnt take 2 months of alternating a good outing with a bad outing to get his consistency. My point was that he could have gotten rocked down in the minors while working on coming back from the elbow surgery and getting his location back.
I wasnt as down on Moylan as I am on Francoeur.
McCann definitely does not look right with his throws to second, plus he couldn’t get a grip on a ball on the double steal, which went down without a throw. I think McFann is right on that he may have dinged up his hand on the concrete last night and may be having trouble gripping the ball.
But that’s not the normal McCann. He usually makes strong throws to second, but has been slow to get the ball off. He’s improved that quite alot lately, since Ross came to the Braves.

Andruw Jones jersey sighting!
June 23rd, 20099:18 pm
Suck It Tex!!!
Your Not Hitting In Your Bandbox Partnah…!
Hoooome Ruuun, Mark Tex…wait…this isn’t New York? Oh, just a loud out to deep center field.
June 23rd, 20099:19 pm
Moylan is clicking on all cylinders tonight.
I still Have That same Jersey as well hanging on my wall…!
Its A Throwback Now! LOL
After watching JF tonight at the plate I have to say, it aint about his low BA and bad production and horrible slg, but it is about how bad he looks at the plate. He has no idea of what to do. He looks like a janitor playing in some amateur league. Doesnt even looks like a professional. He is not going to get out of it. This aint a slump. He has been figured out by ML pitching and there is no way out to it. At least not this or next year. Horrible. He just goes out there and hack at whatever they throw at him. He has learned to stay away from the low an away pitch………..a thing AJ never learned. But man……….he still looks horrible.
If Moylan can come back to his pre-injury form, then the Braves will have a STRONG 7th, 8th, and 9th inning tandem, basically turning it into a 6 inning game. With our rotation (all of whom can get through 6 innings most of the time). The key is getting this offense in order. That is why getting a slugger who can play right field and hit in the clean-up spot is imperative.
Moylan looks good tonight!
Awesome job Moylan.
Friggin idiots, we are winning 3-0 and two thirds of the posts are still bitching. What a bunch of spoiled children.grow up jerks.
June 23rd, 20099:20 pm
moylan geting back to form
Things are looking great!
Man Is It Me Or Is It That Pay-Rod Doesn’t Scare Me like he used to…?
Gonzo in the 8th?
Sit down Yanks!
Moylan gets A-Roid out on a hopper to KJ. This dude just doesn’t look nearly as dangerous as he did before the hip surgery.
Will somebody inform me how Rodriguez has a BA under .210.
Hanson has a 14-inning scoreless streak dating to his second start June 12 at Baltimore
June 23rd, 20099:21 pm
Moylan definitely returning to form. Past few appearances have leaned that way.
Red Sox in Nationals ballpark and it looks they may have a sellout tonight too.
I can agree with that. But, you can’t blame McCann’s shoddy throwing on the pitcher.. that’s my point you seem to be overlooking.
No steroids + Hip surgery = .210 AVG
2 straight shutouts? Could that really be? Let the old times come back.
June 23rd, 20099:22 pm
For All The Braves Fans that Like In Atlanta…
You can still find Throwback Braves TEX shirts Out Here in Fayette County at the Dicks Sporting Goods Store…For 5 bucks a Pop…
I need another shirt to workout I’n so I’m considering getting one….
Never said that, all I said was it wouldn’t have mattered if the throw was perfect…
June 23rd, 20099:23 pm
Crowd: 40,828. Actually looks bigger than announced attendance, for once.
Dear Paul Lentz:
Go tell the Iranian Protesters about your stupid HDTV woes. Suck it up and be happy you’ve got a frickin TV the price of which could by somebody a house and dinner someplaces on this earth.
Smile, dude, your girlfriends can cheer you up.
Now back to our regularly scheduled program:
Not tryin to cause a big sensation,
I’m just talkin ’bout my G-G-Generation…
Blanco as a PH? Are we saving the better hitters for extra innings?
Doc Holiday…………well put, totally agree with your posting at 9:19pm about Francoeur’s at-bats. As I’ve said before, both Francoeur can McCann came up around the same time in 2005. They have had the pleasure of being on the same team, taking batting practice with a great hitter in Chipper Jones. When Chipper comes to the plate, you can tell that he has a plan.
While Chipper’s approach has rubbed off on Brian McCann………..it seems that Jeff Francoeur has totally ignored a gold mine of information. You would think that in 4 years, Francoeur would have said to himself “damn, it seems to be working for my buddy McCann, let’s see if it can work for me.”.
June 23rd, 20099:24 pm
Fair enough, Cabravesfan!
June 23rd, 20099:25 pm
I would rather them pinch hit Diaz and save Gregor for defensive purposes.
Hansen’s ERA dropped to 3.13 with his 5 1/3 scoreless innings tonight.
McFann, Is your bird squawking tonight, as well?
Send Blanco Down Now!!!
He Makes R. Langerhans Look Like an All-Star!!!
June 23rd, 20099:26 pm
You cann see the big scrape near his elbow from that crash…and I watched the replay earlier–he did hit his hand pretty good.
I’m blaming the bad throws entirely on that, but I think it’s played a part for sure.
Jeff321 But, you can’t blame McCann’s shoddy throwing on the pitcher..
Right! That’s why we’re using the cement as a scapegoat!
Paul – Jeff Francoeur’s own approach worked for 2.5 years. Now he’s gotta get over himself and work to figure out what the heck is wrong.
Paul Lentz ,
He looks in panic every AB………he knows he is an out already. He aint coming out. Its time for the braves to move on even if it means losing……….better lose a little know than a lot latter.
Yeah, but isn’t he a little too big to be doing that tightrope thing, LOL? That WHIP is going to leave a mark one of these days.
And, Steve-OH, just scanned that Anderson confusion from this morning. Just goes to show what happens when you reference one of my sunrise sermonettes after 8AM, LOL. Don’t go there again, my friend, do not.
What's Hanson's velocity?
i would trade Hanson for Hughes.
DOB, It looks like full house. Maybe alot of free tickets. Believe Hanson is the real deal.
June 23rd, 20099:28 pm
We are waiting for Infante in order to send Blanco down. But the question is…………why not bring BJ up?
Anybody…………why isnt BJ given a chance? Is he hurt?
What a shame that hop didn’t hit Tex right in the lips.
Um…he’s actually being quite right now. He just came out a little while ago, so he’s happy. He’s starting to fall asleep…rubbing his beak together in contentment (though I can’t stand that sound…it gives me the shivers just like nails on a chalkboard or the phrase, “Runner going…”).
June 23rd, 20099:29 pm
I don’t miss Glavine now that we got Hanson. Oh, great play Tex.
Do you realize Bennett has a WHIP of 1.84?
June 23rd, 20099:30 pm
After watching braves last 6 games…………Wren would become the worst GM ever if no offensive help gets to atlanta 2 weeks from today.
I never would have dreamed that the Braves could throw 2 shutouts in a row. Let’s do it!!
Alright, McFann. I will muzzle myself on the McCann ripping for tonight!
June 23rd, 20099:31 pm
Gonzo and Soriano have the bottom two-thirds of the lineup…”should” nail it down.
I just noticed that McLouth is batting .260 (he was batting .256 when he was traded from the Pirates). However, his power numbers since he came over here have “made up” for his so-so average. In 17 games coming into tonight since his trade from the PIrates, he is batting. 286 with 5 doubles, 3 homers, 10 RBIs, 7 walks, 12 strikeouts, 3 stolen bases, 14 runs scored, .346 on base percentage, .479 slugging pct. and a .825 OPS.
All I can say is “not bad”. What do you guys think?
OMG What a Dumb Question…You can tell half the People who asks those know-how questions never played beyond little league…Hence those same clueless fans make up a majority of the crowd consensus at Tooner Field
June 23rd, 20099:32 pm
What’s Hanson’s velocity?
You’re by the biggest moron ever in the history of this blog. Go get a gun and shoot yourself. You expect Hanson to comeup and pitch flawlessly like an ace? He’s learning and adjusting and couldn’t ask for more against MLB’s homering hitting team. again go kill yourself and chip carey
5 outs to go!!
June 23rd, 20099:33 pm
ESPN..pointed out that Mccann has been having trouble throwing out base runners before the game. I guess the Yankees were watching. Braves has played well tonight.
“Anybody…………why isnt BJ given a chance? Is he hurt?”
I’ve been asking that for weeks Now…I know he was hurt a few weeks ago…
But I liked what I saw from Him In S. Training…
I saw Enough of Blanco last year
jeffrey d………the reason that Francoeur’s “approach” worked for 2 1/2 years is because MLB pitching had yet to figure him out. However, that time has long passed. This is a game of making ADJUSTMENTS. Francoeur simply does not have the ability to do that. He swing looks terrible. There is no getting around that.
Do you people realize CASEY KOTCHMAN DOES NOT HAVE AN ERROR IN ATLANTA BRAVES UNIFORM……………….no errors made since he joined the organization.
Don’t get too happy. The Yanks are gonna storm back and win this game in the 8th and 9th. You guys all know this, that’s why you have been whining and biatching about the Braves all game. Pitiful fans for the poor old Braves. Children and losers and that’s why your team stinks it up and blows the close ones. You deserve no better.
Glad Gonzo/Soriano are not complaining about this mix and match closer’s role, especially on their contract year. Great guys to have.
June 23rd, 20099:34 pm
1st ball thrown by Gonzalez and it was close.
O’s have come back and tied the Fish in the top of the 9th.
June 23rd, 20099:35 pm
Oriole’s making a crazy comeback on FLA with two out in the 9th. 6-6 now.
Gonzo’s rocking scares me, but he does get the job done.
Posada doesn’t even run to first base..
We talk baseball, other sports, music, movies, BBQ and whatever (except politics or religion)
