DOB, thank you for the 8:24…I’m gettin a little sick of so many people blaming Escobar for his flaws while Chipper constantly gets a pass. Remember, that last road trip, our “leader” was just plain awful at the plate and he can be blamed a lot for thoae bad games.
cabravesfan – Yeh, I agree. I just didnt know if his comfort zone was 91-92 or what he was hitting his first start. Those 97s could have just been adrenaline. The radar gun means squat anyway.
Joe just said Kelly didn’t run out of the box because he didn’t know where the ball went. Isn’t that a reason TO run instead of not to run.
cabravesfan – sorry for the lengthy delay – my sister just called for some strange reason – she used to live in LA – was director of marketing of the hotel where River Phoenix met his untimely end (not a good marketing opportunity). I am moving towards negative comments to a few folks who drive me crazy – I need you to rein me in.
Probably some adrenaline, but I think Tommy can throw that hard if he wanted to, but there is no reason to. Once he gets more comfortable at this level, I wouldn’t be suprised to see his fastball top out at around 95

Tex Was Never Clutch with Atlanta…So We Boo Him As We damn Well Please…
And He Sold Out To WhineBrenner and The Yanks out of all teams that offered him a contract (The Team has ruined baseball as far as the business side goes)

Yankee announcers say AROD does not have his head on straight. I guess they are not talking about the time he spends with Kate Hudson these days. Maybe they have a confused idea about his body parts.
Tex was a consummate professional when he played for us. He played hard and smart every inning he was on the field. The Yankees offered him a huge fortune and he said yes. Chip and Joe are right.
I think Hansen is handling the Yanks pretty well tonight. Couple a walks and a few hits, but no runs in spite of our defensive problems. Gotta give the kid a hand.
Skeeter..braves made one offer..and it wasn’t even close to fair market value..braves offered the same amount as the rangers…braves management feel like everyone is going to take a discount….Krusty Krotch has done really well as a replacement
Money would not be a factor. If I was from Atlanta and my family and friends were from there and they had a good team I would not leave. Noboby needs that much money.
Teixeira went for the money. That’s fine But don’t say it is because he wanted to play with the Yanks.
TBrown…………I’m not sure where you got your “Hey Unknown – Remember what happened last time Chipper moved to LF? He turned into the injury riddle I can’t play more than 130 games guy he is now”…………..from? However, you might want to do some research before you make MORONIC statements like that
Here are Chippers stats from 2002 and 2003 when he played ALL his games in the field in left field: (I’m sure that he played a few games at DH in Inter-League play).
…………………………………..2002………2003
Total games played………..158…………153
Games Played in left………152…………149

On base average………….(.435)………(.402)
Slugging pct…………………(.536)………(.517)

Again, do some freaking RESEARCH before posting MORONIC statements like that. Not only did he play more than 130 games, his numbers were not too “shabby”, lol.
cabravesfan – they covered it up – he made it back to the hotel after od’ing at the club and died there, at least according to what I was told, although I claim no overriding knowledge other than what my sister has told me. It was apparently not a great night from a PR standpoint.

Looking at some of the home/away splits on the Yankee hitters is a joke. Cheaty McCheater has 8 homers at home and only 1 on the road. Tex has 13 homers at home and 7 on the road. Posada has 6 at home and 3 on the road. Jeter has 7 homers at home and 2 on the road.
