Ok, we are just going to have to agree to dis agree. You simply had no response for my numbers comment from Diaz being the “go to guy” in lf last year when his #’s were awful like Jeff’s. Oh well, just have to agree to disagree. I’m tired of arguing with your incessant hatred
Good to hear Paul Lentz. I am sure your decision to start rooting against Francoeur ought to really make a difference in the long run-you know, help the team out. Nice work.
Well it looks like we’re getting to Dempster. Working counts, swiping bags, moving runners over. He’s thrown 91 through 5 innings. This is what this offense needs to do more of, & that’s when you start seeing guys hit doubles, HR’s, etc..(too bad on Mac’s ball and that shot to Youk yesterday)… Hopefully it’s not a trend and these guys are actually learning…
Bravesman, Willingham does make a ton of sense but he’s a pretty big health risk with his bad back. Not sure you’d want to give up much for that kinda gamble. It could pay off though.
hmmm, considering that NOBODY other than the Braves were willing to go with the 4 years and that much money.
Why on earth, would any team NOW be willing to give up prospects along with taking on that contract? The Answer?….
They wouldn’t.
After this season, we will have two pitchers making around 12 million dollars on one year deals (assuming we exercise Hudson’s option). Hudson is not yet 12 months removed from TJ surgery, and will barely have a month or two to prove himself.
Vazquez is the more tradable guy. And his value will NOT be higher this off-season. IF Wren feels that the Braves are out of it, and wanted to fast track some younger players for the future, Vazquez would be the guy to trade.
Of course, if Vazquez keeps this up and Wren wants him to be part of the future, they could simply pass on Hudson’s option, and offer Vazquez an extension.
JS would have never done that. But one thing’s for sure. Wren has done things VERY differently than JS did. So, I’m not sure what to expect.
Whether Wren keeps or trades Vazquez, you can bet your ass he’ll be fielding phone calls about him. He’d be a fool not to, and if somebody offers a “Tex-like” trade, he’s got to jump at it and replenish that system.
HOW MANY TIMES has B Mac hit a missile to the first baseman this year? It has to be about 20 times. Is it the way the league is defensively playing his tendency to pull, or is he that unlucky?
Derek Lowe isnt going anywhere. He is a workhorse, an innings eater who gives the Braves a chance to win virtually every time out. Plus he isnt your “typical” 36 year old. He doesnt reply on a power, he’s a sinker ball pitcher, plus he has NEVER been on the disabled list. A.J. Burnett, I can understand people saying that he was overpaid. But Derek Lowe will end up pitching all 4 years and doing what the Braves are paying him to be, the ace of the staff.
Tim Hudson, who was supposed to be the ace of the staff, has been on the disabled list while making $15.5 mil. I’m not saying that Hudson isnt a good pitcher. What I’m saying is that Derek Lowe’s health is not something that should be taken for granted or overlooked. I’m thankful that Frank Wren signed Derek Lowe. I feel that he is worth $15 mil a season.
If you think about it, it was worth it. Drew had his best years as a brave 30 homers 110 rbi. and tex was not that bad. andrus was blocked by escobar. Harrison is looking O.K. salty was blocked by Mcann,
rob, you do realize that the only two guys in the Tex deal we’ll likely regret giving up are Andrus and Feliz? Salty has a .680 OPS this year and a .714 career. Harrison has a 5.43 ERA, 1.6 WHIP, and strikes out only 4.8 batters per nine. I don’t think I’ve read too much that suggests he has the stuff to become a top-3 starter in the bigs. Beau Jones is still buried in their minor league system. And as far as I’m concerned, both Andrus and Feliz still have a lot to prove.
ElbravoEX… don’t be an idiot and start doing that. We don’t need idiots spreading rumors. Go to another room please. Let’s focus on the game please?????
I am even ok that we traded Feliz. I just hate that we traded Andrus. Every person who writes about Andrus talks about the leadership qualities he possesses. I think he is going to be a superstar.
Tomahawkin – It ain’t gonna get better these next 10 days. Yanks, Soxfans, and Philly fans will be here. Makes me sick. Oh well at least I have 3 games this week i’m going to. I hate the vistitors in this stadium.
The Wainwright trade was just a type of bust, but its one of those prospects that lived up to his potential. Now that only comes around a few times for example Hanley Ramirez
Oh well, here goes Javy’s patented 3 run inning. That will be the end of this game. Is there anybody watching who does not have a bad feeling about this game most of the night? Honest now.
he is 20 years old. Plus he is from Venezuela and players from there tend to take a few years to develop their bats. Look at Vizquel and Carlos Guillen. He has great speed as well.
