Loaf gets it!
June 22nd, 20098:49 pm
kelly is “getting out of it” because of a couple of walks???
mlbTV is WAY behind tonight
Ok, we are just going to have to agree to dis agree. You simply had no response for my numbers comment from Diaz being the “go to guy” in lf last year when his #’s were awful like Jeff’s. Oh well, just have to agree to disagree. I’m tired of arguing with your incessant hatred
Good to hear Paul Lentz. I am sure your decision to start rooting against Francoeur ought to really make a difference in the long run-you know, help the team out. Nice work.
June 22nd, 20098:50 pm
Paul L. He should have been benched a long time ago.
rob from sc
Schuerholz loves giving away prospects.
The players now in Texas
Well it looks like we’re getting to Dempster. Working counts, swiping bags, moving runners over. He’s thrown 91 through 5 innings. This is what this offense needs to do more of, & that’s when you start seeing guys hit doubles, HR’s, etc..(too bad on Mac’s ball and that shot to Youk yesterday)… Hopefully it’s not a trend and these guys are actually learning…
how about jeff francoeur to the yankees for a bucket of balls and their stadium architect?
Bravesman, Willingham does make a ton of sense but he’s a pretty big health risk with his bad back. Not sure you’d want to give up much for that kinda gamble. It could pay off though.
McLouth of the South
June 22nd, 20098:51 pm
Dense Paul Lentz suffers from cramps, carpal tunnel, and a raw peter.
Willingham has a .911 OPS and a .528 slugging percentage.
Wes, I was kidding.
Jman Frenchy reminds me of John Rocker for some reason.
hmmm, considering that NOBODY other than the Braves were willing to go with the 4 years and that much money.
Why on earth, would any team NOW be willing to give up prospects along with taking on that contract? The Answer?….
After this season, we will have two pitchers making around 12 million dollars on one year deals (assuming we exercise Hudson’s option). Hudson is not yet 12 months removed from TJ surgery, and will barely have a month or two to prove himself.
Vazquez is the more tradable guy. And his value will NOT be higher this off-season. IF Wren feels that the Braves are out of it, and wanted to fast track some younger players for the future, Vazquez would be the guy to trade.
Of course, if Vazquez keeps this up and Wren wants him to be part of the future, they could simply pass on Hudson’s option, and offer Vazquez an extension.
JS would have never done that. But one thing’s for sure. Wren has done things VERY differently than JS did. So, I’m not sure what to expect.
Whether Wren keeps or trades Vazquez, you can bet your ass he’ll be fielding phone calls about him. He’d be a fool not to, and if somebody offers a “Tex-like” trade, he’s got to jump at it and replenish that system.
HOW MANY TIMES has B Mac hit a missile to the first baseman this year? It has to be about 20 times. Is it the way the league is defensively playing his tendency to pull, or is he that unlucky?
June 22nd, 20098:52 pm
The broadcast was thinking that Kelly Johnson had cramps or something maybe a hammy thing when he went to 3B. Didn’t look serious.
McFann…with Mac’s speed…it mighta been a triple!
Just in: Vasquez for Pierre is done. Wren is an idiot!
ElbravoX– EbX Source? I see nothing…
June 22nd, 20098:53 pm
My pleasure Carroll. Glad to be of assistance
Rode the fastball in on Lee. Javy is a freakin’ surgeon.
Epine- KJ’s been on twice tonight and JF doubled……lol maybe ur right after all!!
Carroll, Kelly came up lame rounding 2nd base for some reason. John thinks it’s cramps, but it’s hard to tell
Was it DOB or Carroll who said the Braves should be drinking plenty of water going from a cooler/wetter Boston to Hotlanta?
Kelly woulda had that.
Then why is Vazquez still pitching
June 22nd, 20098:54 pm
how many pitches for vaz tonight? i think this should be the last inning for him
Derek Lowe isnt going anywhere. He is a workhorse, an innings eater who gives the Braves a chance to win virtually every time out. Plus he isnt your “typical” 36 year old. He doesnt reply on a power, he’s a sinker ball pitcher, plus he has NEVER been on the disabled list. A.J. Burnett, I can understand people saying that he was overpaid. But Derek Lowe will end up pitching all 4 years and doing what the Braves are paying him to be, the ace of the staff.
Tim Hudson, who was supposed to be the ace of the staff, has been on the disabled list while making $15.5 mil. I’m not saying that Hudson isnt a good pitcher. What I’m saying is that Derek Lowe’s health is not something that should be taken for granted or overlooked. I’m thankful that Frank Wren signed Derek Lowe. I feel that he is worth $15 mil a season.
JAVY better not be hurt
Rob and sc
If you think about it, it was worth it. Drew had his best years as a brave 30 homers 110 rbi. and tex was not that bad. andrus was blocked by escobar. Harrison is looking O.K. salty was blocked by Mcann,
Oh no. Not again
Ok all these grimaces from our players are scaring me. Sheesh.
WTH? I thought he was just pained because the ball made it through.
June 22nd, 20098:55 pm
You can’t help tearing an elbow ligament
Might be a little bit of both…he’s had more hits taken away from him than anybody I’ve ever seen…
That’s true! Though after slamming into the wall like that, he might have had to hold up at second…
Petey-Pab Warming Up, Not Good!!!
Whew. Just a stinger. I’ve had those.
Joe, Vazquez doesn’t believe in pitch counts. He says he can go 130-140 without blinking an eye.
June 22nd, 20098:56 pm
If Javy comes out of this game the Braves will blow it.
Kelly pulled up going to 3rd..Joe said.
This game is too quiet. When is our HOF manager bringing in Bennett?
kelly johnson left with bilateral leg cramps.
1 Year of Drew was not worth Wainwright. Andrus is the type of player/person you build a team around.
What would it cost to get a guy like Willingham??????
Steve from OH
rob, you do realize that the only two guys in the Tex deal we’ll likely regret giving up are Andrus and Feliz? Salty has a .680 OPS this year and a .714 career. Harrison has a 5.43 ERA, 1.6 WHIP, and strikes out only 4.8 batters per nine. I don’t think I’ve read too much that suggests he has the stuff to become a top-3 starter in the bigs. Beau Jones is still buried in their minor league system. And as far as I’m concerned, both Andrus and Feliz still have a lot to prove.
This game should be over by now. We should have five runs at least.
Come on….settle down. Get this hitter. Couple seeing eye ground balls, no big deal. Two down, let’s get the next guy.
ElbravoEX… don’t be an idiot and start doing that. We don’t need idiots spreading rumors. Go to another room please. Let’s focus on the game please?????
June 22nd, 20098:57 pm
Give Kelly johnson some gawdamned midol and get that wuss back in there
Bandwagon Cubs Fans are making me sick!
Rob from sc
And Escobar isnt???
June 22nd, 20098:58 pm
Curd…base hit for Grove.
Look at them punk ass Cubs fans, Makes me sick
There ya go.
Those people have no perspective.
6 straight playoff losses.
I am even ok that we traded Feliz. I just hate that we traded Andrus. Every person who writes about Andrus talks about the leadership qualities he possesses. I think he is going to be a superstar.
Pull JAvy now
June 22nd, 20098:59 pm
Come On Javy…! This Is the Game Right Here…Get Tough!
Here we go…
Why did the Cubs’ 1B man have to catch that?
I love Escobar, Andrus could play second. There was no need to put him in that trade. we outbid ourselves
ok, i’m told that means kelly has cramps in both legs…..told ya this heat was a little different than what they’ve been dealing with on the trip.
does Kelly have his Midol yet?
Because the deal is done and why not let him pitch, we have 10 games in a row and we got robbed.
Man, that was quite a chat.
June 22nd, 20099:00 pm
Tomahawkin – It ain’t gonna get better these next 10 days. Yanks, Soxfans, and Philly fans will be here. Makes me sick. Oh well at least I have 3 games this week i’m going to. I hate the vistitors in this stadium.
Javy has had to dance around a lot base runners tonight…
Rob, Andrus is a light hitting good fielding shortstop. Nothing more.
The Wainwright trade was just a type of bust, but its one of those prospects that lived up to his potential. Now that only comes around a few times for example Hanley Ramirez
Seriously I have Not Seen a Bandwagon Cubs Fan in the “A”…
Where do these guys live at out here…?
Even When I went to school out here I never met any bandwagon cubs fans!
1 more Javier
June 22nd, 20099:01 pm
Oh well, here goes Javy’s patented 3 run inning. That will be the end of this game. Is there anybody watching who does not have a bad feeling about this game most of the night? Honest now.
June 22nd, 20099:02 pm
Yeah, There We Go Javy!!!
Lets Get Some Runs!!!
Yeahhhh Cubs fans. Shut it!!
SHUT THE F*** UP YOU WORTHLESS PIECES OF S***!
Cherokee, eat me. Err, it.
Okay I was just informed that kelly johnson has his Midol, and is resting comfortably
Now lets get at least 3 more before the bullpen guys take over.
Had that with the neck…slept on it wrong too..hurts like hell
he is 20 years old. Plus he is from Venezuela and players from there tend to take a few years to develop their bats. Look at Vizquel and Carlos Guillen. He has great speed as well.
Cubs Fans! I got 2 Words For Ya…!
Anyone Care to fill me in as to what they are?
Look we all wanted Tex, you do know that we offered him crap load of money during the last offseason and freaking borass as usual likes to test the market. It would be well worth it if he signed that contract.
Cherokee, have a little faith my friend.
I would take Vazquez out now. He got us this far, let’s hope that the bullpen can shut the Cubs down. If Vazquez had not struggled that 6th inning, I’d be in favor of throwing him out there for the 7th. However, I dont think that he has much left in the tank.
Anyway, 6 shut out innings, only the 1 walk. Not bad.
June 22nd, 20099:03 pm
Gutsy performance by Javy. I would be surprised to see him come back out again.
Heat cramps Kelly? … do you know you’re playing in GEORGIA!!! Been playing here for how many years now?
Even if the Heat is different your a Pro…your suppose to prepare for stuff like this…only an idiot wouldn’t know it’s hot as hell in Atlanta…I mean the dude lives in Texas!
I say Vazquez goes one more…
June 22nd, 20099:04 pm
Rob, Andrus’ upside is Omar Vizquel. Hell of a player, borderline HOF, but he’s got a lot of work to do with the bat to maximize his offense.
Tomahawkin – I remember the playoffs back sometime and the Cubs fans almost outnumbered us and they won the games down here and the Cub fans started singing their victory song after they won. It was loud and it was the worst thing I had experienced in Turner Field.
Kelly and Booby just kissed and made up too!
We did the same thing the Rangers did when they signed AROD. We were bidding against ourselves and gave up too much. We knew Tex was going to test FA. I was fine giving up everyone we did except for Andrus.
I am an idiot, that’s what the Braves do to you after 25 years! And I am not even 35…
June 22nd, 20099:05 pm
Lets try to knock out Dempster
I could claim reverse psychology on that last post, but the truth is that I thought they would score. I hate to say it but I watch every close game with an underlying feeling of drear. We meed some runs, huh?
Go ahead GA.
We talk baseball, other sports, music, movies, BBQ and whatever (except politics or religion)
