Carroll Rogers – No you didn’t jinx him.. does a hit and run get you off the hook regarding his base stealing prowess? I think so. Hit and run is tough. I have been very happy with Nate’s performance at the top of the order so far.
Gives us some punch and speed at the top of the order , what more could you ask for? Looking at the roster seems the best thing we can do.
Chipper swinging through that pitch knowing the runners were going shows you just how tough a stretch he is in right now.
That being said, I have to send the runners in that situation with
Chipper at the plate every time! Does Chipper K sometimes? Sure he does but he’s such a good situational hitter he won’t be part of a “strike ‘em out-throw ‘em out” very often.
Damn, just because I said a couple of times over the winter that Chipper was due for a down year, doesn’t mean he actually had to go ahead and do it! That hurt. C’mon Bravos !
Oh hell, we’ll have to hear about that hit for 6 months. I mean, if his GIDP, fly out, and slow roller to first on the first pitch the other night were “some of his best at bats” then just imagine what he’ll have to say about a double.
I wouldn’t give Jeff as much credit for that double as I would blame Dempster for making a REALLY stupid pitch to a free swinger. But, he hit a mistake, so I’ll give ‘em that.
Epinephrine………….dude, I need to see A LOT MORE than a double (it would have only been a single if the centerfielder didnt bobble it)…….before I will even consider retracting how I feel about Francoeur’s hitting ability. A LOT MORE.
However, I’m sure that you now feel that he has “turned the corner” and should therefore be given a 5 year $75 mil extension.
Wasn’t Diory pretty high thought of as a minor leaguer? Maybe it was just for his defense but I thought he was a pretty soild little singles hitter with some speed.
Diory sucks. Send him back down and call up Barbaro
Just shows that you don’t have any idea what the heck you’re talking about. Diory is here because he can play SS, which Canizares cannot (heck, he can barely play 1B). Were the Braves to make that move, they’d be stuck using Johnson or Prado at short. These ain’t video games, dude.
Steve, I also don’t think we should sell him low. He’s had good seasons and he’s more capable of turning things around thant Jeff who I think is a lost cause.
Again, I’m not a fan of looking at career numbers either, especially when a player is in their 4th year like Kellly. Players usually change from the player they were in their 1st few years, so looking at BABIP using Kelly’s career numbers is moot IMO. It is interesting though how similar his BA/BABIP margin was in all his other seasons up till this point. I saw the same thing with Joe Mauer, who Yahoo argued wouldn’t hit .400 because of his high BABIP. I disagreed, because the challenge with hitting .400 is being consistent year round. Mauer does have a high BABIP, but to me that means he’s hitting the ball well. His margin between BA and BABIP was tied for the lowest in his career with the year he hit his career high in BA.
But anyway, when looking at BABIP I don’t look at career BA, just year to year comparisons with BABIP using the margin.
I agree that Kelly needs to start working counts. That was a helluva at bat last inning. I think if he does that more and sees more pitches, fouls tough ones off, he’ll start raking again (get his timing down). Funny that you are for playing Prado now, but after seeing that at-bat by kelly, i’m against it because it’s a sign he might be coming around, and no one on this team can be as productive as Kelly when he’s hot. It’s his consistency, or lack thereof, coupled by the team’s lack of consistency, that drives me nuts. This team is, and has been, a couple of consistent hitters away from making the postseason, and that is why i chose my stance on Kelly…as i’m sure you’re aware of by now. Gotta love your patience though…reminds me of Cox throughout the 90’s…
Don’t get me wrong I am not hating on Yadier Molina by all means but can a baseball fan actually think when they fill out this ballot that… hey that Molina is by far the best in the NL and we need him there so we can win this game? Outside those who pull for the Cardinals?
Where is the rest of the National League baseball fans that have watched the catcher position. It’s weird.
Diory ain’t no Infante. Maybe he’s destined to hit sometime in the future, but he an auto-out right now. Not killin’ the kid, he has no business being in the bigs yet so I’m cutting him some slack. Not his fault he isn’t ready. Just stating a fact.
Epinephrine………..upon seeing a replay of that pitch, Francoeur should have done more with that pitch. It was a fastball middle in (in other words, in a player’s wheelhouse). I’m not saying that Francoeur cant get a hit on a pitcher’s mistakes. However Francoeur simply cannot DRIVE the ball. A home run on a pitch in his “wheelhouse” should happen “on occassion”.
Unreal, lol. Dude gets on hit on a pitch he should have “crushed” and you are telling me to “eat” it.
Actually Francoeur is 4 for his last 22 ( I forgot about his weak at-bat in the second inning).
Paul, a double is a double is a double. Get that through your head! I don’t care if it doesn’t leave the infield, it’s a double. He “should” have crushed that pitch, unbelievable reasoning there, I am convinced.
