J4NLCY- I’m originally from Chicago (north side, Cubs fan). I’ve lived in Atlanta for 15 years now, but I still cheer for the Cubs, just not when they play the Braves. Not sure how you can cheer for the Braves in Chicago, ’cause it’s tough cheering for ‘em in Atlanta sometimes.

I guess we just disagree, Rob. You’re seriously underestimating the impact of removing Anderson and Franceour from the lineup, IMO, and you’re seriously undervaluing Chipper’s impact to this club. Trading Vazquez for a bat (assuming Hudson is ready to step into the rotation) is much more of a sure bet to help us than trading him for prospects that are farther away from the bigs and may or may not even help us down the road.

Chipper sure didn’t look like a 9-5er there, did he?

Horrible decision making by Bobby Cox to start the inning. No way I would put Jair Jurggens back out there to start this inning when he was finally off the hook. He has had so much tough luck, I would have taken him out for that reason alone. It backfired on Cox too. I don’t know what was up with Cox, Jones and the umpires there. He was aching to toss somebody and he did, two somebody’s!

Huge error cost us 3 runs, A Yunel/Chip communication error cost a run, and Ump flat out refuses to call out someone on 0-2 pitches. Picture perfect flashes of last season on road down a run. Flat out sad.

Without that error in the 1st or missed pop-up between Chipper & Esco and without that blown call by the ump and this is a 4-1 game. However, thats a lot of “what-ifs”.

Chop It Up All-Star

June 21st, 2009
3:43 pm

IMO that Chipper blow up was more than just his beef with the umpire. I think he was irked about the called strike on him, the missed strike call on Drew, the stupid throw to second by GA, the missed pop-up between him and Escobar and the fact that they will probably lose yet another game they could, maybe even should have won.

F——g umpires…………..they should be fined when they miss calls this bad…………he makes the mistakes………..it cost an organization a game………….thousands of dollars………….games on the standings and they still get to toss players out?

At least they should be able to replay those plays and at least bring the players back or something…………what a bag of s———t

Chipper never gets so hot……….(only while in hooters)…………he is just tires of so much mediocrity………..his teammates and the umpires………….. they have missed 2 calls at 3B……….badly…………and lots of calls with chipper on the batters box…………..its frustrating…………

We will win this game to make some justice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

In better news, mets are blowing a lead and Phils are down 2-1 in the 8th and they just lost there manager too. 2 more innings here for the Braves to pick up JJ. I know Chipper was leading off, but I appreciate him sticking up for his pitcher. Wakefield got a lot of borderline pitches and for EOF not to get that call really hurt us.

Chipper was just thrown out of the game. Garret Anderson was loafing around left field all day. For the love of Jeebus I wish they would release this idiot. He brings nothing to the table. I would rather see Blanco hitting .200 but busting his butt out there as opposed to this clown occupying space on the roster and costing us runs. With a little effort he could have held the runner at first. No effort so the runner, a catcher, gets to 2nd. With a little effort he could have caught the Drew hit , but he loafed and played the ball off the wall, with a little effort there might have been a play at the plate but he lobbed the ball back to 2nd. Release him now! During the game for all I care. He doesn’t deserve to wear the jersey.

I like that from Hoss. It looked to me on the replay that he was protecting O’Flaherty. O’Flaherty got screwed on the “strike” call and challenged the ump after the hit. The umpire then was stalking O’Flaherty instead of turning the other way. The umpire was making himself bigger than the game. Way to stick up for your teammates, Hoss.

However, a little more fire and just plain heads up play by the Braves on the field would go a lot further than bellyaching about a blown call. When you are winning games you should win instead of losing games you should win due to sloppy defense and not hitting, frustration sets in.
