I can’t take this anymore. We need to win this damn game. Can’t give up any more runs. We probably will though. Chipper and Brian better get it started in the 8th.
rob–and I very clearly stated that trading Vazquez could make sense for the club. However, trading him for three A-ball prospects does not. We need OF bats, period. We get ‘em, and I think we’ll all be surprised at how competitive we’ll be. However, our pitching depth now is definitely not what it was at the start of the season, so dealing Vazquez does carry a LOT of risks–if Huddy or someone else goes down, we’re looking at a lot of face time with JoJo or Todd Redmond. Yikes.
TBrown…Chipper’s played baseball his whole life. During that period, he has been taught since little league that the SS is in charge in the infield. Why would he take charge on a pop-up hit to the SS when it is NOT what he is supposed to do? The damn think almost hit Escobar in the foot when it dropped. And it is not my opinion that Escobar is not the best player on the team. Statistically and factually, he is not the best player on the team.
If we are going to rebuild the right way than I am prepared to wait a few seasons if that means being good for a long period of time. Look how long we sucked before the run in the 90’s. That was worth it was it not?
We are more set than you thing
C – McCann
1B – Freeman (2010, 2011)
2B – Prado ( he reminds me of Pedroia with the passion he plays with)
SS – Escobar
3B –
Lf – McLouth
Cf – Schafer
RF – Heyward (opening day 2010)
And Youk proves again why he is the type of player that ANY big leaguer should aspire to be. Get dirty. Get intense. Get it done. Pressure? He’s never heard of it.
Give me 8 Youks in the starting lineup and my team will win 125 games.
I get so frickin’ tired of folks crying about poor so and so starting pitcher, if only he got run support. Beat the opposing pitcher. THat’s your job. The other team scored less that day because you didn’t pitch as good the opponent’s pitcher.
JJ has recovered nicely but if he gives up anything here please for the love of God Bobby don’t leave him hanging out there until Boston takes the lead.
Jason — I understand the SS is in charge of the infield..Escobar also started the play positioned just about behind 2nd and chipper was shifted over towards SS. You can’t put that all on Yunel.
And i don’t know what stats you’re referring to, but I’m not going to argue. There’s no need in arguing who the best player is. It’s, in most cases, opinion.
Apparently reading comprehension really isn’t your thing, Rob. Never said that we shouldn’t trade Javy if the right deal comes along. You did this same thing yesterday.
Is that how you have a conversation. You bash people who don’t agree with your comments. You said dealing Vazquez does carry a LOT of risks. Make up you mind. We either get the bat or miss the playoff’s.
Vazquez gives us one bat, do you thing that is enough Steve? I don’t
You’re really talking in circles, dude. I’m not sure what you mean. So we’ve already got a lot of pieces to compete, but we’ve gotta trade Chipper for prospects? Gotta trade Javy, but a big bat isn’t enough? Well, what is enough? Do you really expect to get a bat and two good prospects for Javy? Because I’d be surprised if we did.
Who is having a good season besides the three in Myrtle Beach. Go to MILB.com and look up the stats. BAseball America top 30, most of them are struggling.
THWG, Actually tomorrow i’m having “the guys” over and were going watch the game in chicago and if the Braves lose imma burn my hat but if the Cubs lose they are gunna burn their hats
O’Flaherty just “struck out” JD Drew (showed it on pitch track it was a fat third strike). Has to throw another pitch and JD smokes it. GA throws in to second (wtf)? and no play at the plate.
And now O’Flaherty, Cox, and Chipper Jones have just been tossed out of the game.
My point is I would not play for this season. Play for 2011 and beyond. That is my point. One bat does not make this team a playoff team. We have a lot of issues.

How’s Prado’s groin? Looked to be ok running the bases on that play, on a slick field and all.
If his groin is healed, then there really is no excuse to play Kelly over him in the near future.
