I think Yunel is playing scared. If not scared, he’s playing with a greater degree of hesitancy. Perhaps the “business-like” mode doesn’t fit everyone well. I agree that I hope the next wave of players don’t have to be emotionally neutered in order to “fit in”.

I know we really don’t have any team speed, but it really is kind of amazing that we haven’t even attempted one off Wakefield and his 60-mph gas. Didn’t hurt us in the 1st when McLouth wound up scoring, but he should have been able to take 2nd before Escobar got his single. Then Escobar not taking 2nd in the 3rd hurt us on the DP. I know Prado doesn’t really have speed, but you’d like to see him maybe try to steal 3rd for a potential SF after Ross wasn’t able to move him up.
I just don’t get it.

Braves just look like they don’t care anymore. I don’t know if that stems from bad leadership/coaching or there is just a lack of talent that keeps them from competing with even the worst of teams. Sell the team, these guys blow.

I feel bad for JJ, you can see how dejected he feels when he walks off the mound back to the dugout, like he knows he is going to lose yet another game, while only giving up 1 earned run..Although, todays loss will be on him as its his fault they got those 3 unearned runs.

To guy said it was good they ran David Justice out of town. Be aware that this team has never been the same after that trade. Justice played with heart and emotion. We could use a little of that. Worse move in the history of the Braves.

RHR–Lugo isn’t that great of a comparison because he’s really not any good anyway. The Sawx have been trying to get rid of him for some time now if I remember correctly.
Too bad they didn’t know that before overpaying for him, huh? Ouch.

On the Yunel, Chipper dropped pop up everybody is mainly saying it was the SS play so its Yunel’s fault. Well I blame it on both of them. Communication is key. Both players regardless of language Know how to say I got it. Braves killing themselves with mistakes. All these runs should be unearned.

I have been to about a dozen games this season and not once did the oppennts’ fans outnumber the Braves’. The closest I remember was the Cubs, and I don’t believe they were over 40% of the attendance — which is high, granted, but which means Frenchy is flat-out wrong in his comment.

Losing Chipper will make us worse at the beginning. I completely agree. However the prospects we get should be top prospects. I think the clubhouse chemistry will drastically improve without him. Just my opinion.

For everyone commenting on the Chipper/Yunel popup, did anyone notice where they were positioned when the ball was hit? The wind was obviously blowing it back to Chipper. It may have bounced 2 feet from where Yunel ended up, but it landed no more than 5 feet from where Chipper started. Yeah the SS is the captain of the infield, but that’s atleast both of their faults. Yunel is the best player on this team and it’s not even close. Get off the guy

rob–you’re not backing up anything you say with either firsthand knowledge or statistics. We have (statistically) the 4th best infield and the 4th best starting rotation (at last check). Our outfield (before the McLouth trade) ranked 30th, and the bullpen ranked in the 20’s. So you think trading our best infielder and our two best relievers is really gonna help? How about getting a good OF bat and replacing Frenchy with Diaz until Heyward is ready, and letting Kotch give us value with the glove until Freeman is ready? Don’t you think that is a bit easier than trading one of our two best hitters for prospects that are an indeterminate amount of time from big-league production, one of our best pitchers when we don’t have that much depth left, and our two best relievers? How long do you plan on waiting?
We’ve got a lot of pieces already in place. Simply ridding ourselves of Francoeur and GA and replacing them with league-average bats will increase our run production considerably. I’m sorry, but I feel your opinions are misplaced and I haven’t seen you offer any evidence to support them anyway.
Now, if you said let’s trade Javy (once we’re confident Huddy can produce again) for a bat and a pitching prospect, then I’d say ok, that would probably make sense for the club. Trading him now makes no sense. Dismantling the club now mkes no sense.

But Brian Jordan was the best Team leader during his first Tenure with the Braves…He had to deal with the John Rocker Fiasco…I don’t Think Hoss Coul’ve handled that….
I dunno what it was in 99 Chipper won the MVP for Killing the Mets but B. Jordan was our number 1 clutch performer that year….

1 earned run for JJ and another loss, will this team ever get to be consistent. I like last years team atleast they were consistent at giving you a loss and no hope. This team give you one or two games of hope a week all to have it crushed by the end of the week. I wish we were in the NL west we can start thinking about next year already maybe its time we do that anyway.

In order to get a great player in a trade, you need to give up player the other team wants. I wouldn’t trade Jason Heyward or Freddie Freeman. Tommy Hanson, Jair Jurrjens, Brian McCann, And Escobar would be off limits for me.
Nobody wants Kawakami and his contract. We are not trading Derek Lowe. Hudson is on the D.L. THe best player we have to trade is Vazquez. I like Javy a lot. He has been the ace of the staff this season. TO get the bat we need he is the player most teams will want.
In regards to CHipper Jones I am afraid of his body breaking down. With our limited payroll, it will kill us at the end of his contract if he is unproductive. If we fall out of the reac, trading Chipper is something I would explore.

rob from sc, I’m not sure it’s Chipper that needs to go. I am coming to the conclusion that it might be best for the team to shake up the management and/or coaching staff.
I believe bringing in a manager with an established track record is the way to go and let Chipper decide if we wants to remain a Brave or not.
