Man Our Defense Sucks…This Team makes Way Too Many Mental And Physical Errors to be considered Playoff caliber…
Blanco Blows! Did I mention that earlier…?
How can that be ruled a single ? That was clearly an error.
June 21st, 20092:41 pm
Yeah I didn’t see that hit him, but thanks.
Blow this team up Wren please..and end this MISERY!!!
was it just me or did it look like HPU waited until Green reacted before he gave him the base?
Yeah! He said “you gotta put that one on Yunel – he’s usually really aggressive with anything around him and Kelly Johnson.”
You can’t blame everything on Escobar. That was Chipper’s fault just as much as it was Escobar’s.
We’re going to give them another run. Unbelievable.
Escobar will be back in the dawg house again
June 21st, 20092:42 pm
RHR sorry to ruin your day RHR………………. jerk off
Loaf is terrible in Left field…
rob from sc
Do Escobar and Jones get along with each other?
Great baseball by the Braves today.
Would you get upset if I am RANDOM?
Papi looking lithe there.
Not just you, cabraves. I don’t think that hit him and Green didn’t really even react, not like he put up an Escobar academy award winning performance.
Loaf WTF!!! Big Sloppy Should’ve been gunned out at the plate!!!
June 21st, 20092:43 pm
70 pitches already. The Red Sox do a good job of running up pitch counts.
joe, I’m with you…Chipper’s just as much to fault on that.
This team is cursed.
I’m speechless over the defense in this fourth inning.
Braves actually had a play at the plate with Ortiz running. But, as Chipper turned to fire, Ross was wandering around behind the plate.
Unbelievable crap fest in the fourth.
Joe and Boog never blame Francoeur or Chipper for anything.
poor Escobar …….. he can’t win…. Chipper was as much to blame as Yunel
I agree…how in the world can that be ruled a hit? I know…no one touched it, etc. But, that’s not a hit and the run should not be earned.
Gotta tip your cap big time to KK for allowing only 2 runs and 2 hits to these guys in Fridays game
Jurrjens Imploding after another error…
Trade JJ for a bat NOW!!
June 21st, 20092:44 pm
Green did make like he was goign to toss the bat and head to 1st, then the HPU signaled it hit him…
Every outfielder, except frenchy, should throw directly to yunel and let him relay
Both Chipper and Yunel are to blame on that. They both just didn’t want to take that.
And…that cost the Braves a run. Although having a LFer with half an arm would have saved it on that sac fly.
I’m still shocked…
June 21st, 20092:45 pm
Joe has a man crush on Frenchy…even if he grounds out routinely….joe…that was hit really hard but right at the shortstop
yeah I love kenshin, I think the Braves should seriously consider PWHjort’s idea of tradeing Jurrjens for Quentin
I like Jurrjens, but he has nobody to blame but himself. If he makes that play in the first, we still lead 2-1.
We play sloppy baseball. Nobody looks like they are having fun and it is sad to see. There are problems that need to be addressed. Hopefully Wren will clear out the problems whoever they are.
Damn poor defense in that inning.
June 21st, 20092:46 pm
they do both share in the blame. and i am not a yunel hater or a chipper defender. but, that’s escobar’s ball unless called off…the ss is in control there.
Francoeur on the upcoming homestand: “Probably three of the best franchises coming to town. It’ll be fun to get out there and play. I’m sure it’ll be like seven away games for us. But we’re all used to that by now.”
By the way, as he said that I was thinking, is he including the one-gamer with the Cubs as one of the “three best franchises”? His next comment told me, he was:
“… Then we’ve got the Phillies coming to town.”
I’m still shocked…”
Don’t be it’s been like this since ‘05_____Nothing new here
Having a FIRE sell would be great at this moment, didn’t I say trade McCann
June 21st, 20092:47 pm
Rob from sc – I obviously don’t have anyone evidence to support this, but in watching them “interact” and in reading what chipper has to say about certain things and about escobars benching, I’d say not at all. Chipper probably thinks Esco is a hotdog and has too much attitude, passion, and flair. Wouldn’t kill chipper to have some emotions every now and then
I think Chip should get an earful in the dugout for that play.
It’s too bad we don’t have any confidence the Braves can come back from 2 down. I would rather have Diaz in RF than Blanco. At least McCann is in the lineup. If he were not we would still probably have 0 runs.
June 21st, 20092:48 pm
I am not bashing Chipper Jones at all. He is not a ra ra type of player. He doesn’t show tons of emotion. THat works great for him. Unfortunately as the team leader his attitude is rubbing off on the rest of the team. Some players like Escobar seem to play better when they show emotion.
Why is Blanco still on this team? He doesn’t even have a hit!! Norton at least had 4 hits. $(&^$&*)%!!
Great job on that double play Blanco with your .000 avg
June 21st, 20092:49 pm
Why are chip and ron darling sucking nick freaking green so much? He might be solid, but nick green is nick green.
Is Lugo on the DL? Or are they really benching a 30 million dollar SS in favor of Green?
Chop It Up All-Star
Wow, that Francoeur comment was very David Justice like from the 95 World Series. Hey, Jeff, maybe if you gave the home fans something to cheer about it wouldn’t feel like an away game.
At least a Frenchy would have struck out, but of course Blanco has to GIDP
Woulda been out of every other park
Not sure if it’s been mentioned yet (just got back from lunch), but FanGraphs has an article arguing that the most effective fastball in 2009 is the 72 MPH heater of Tim Wakefield. Interesting read.
WTP Macdaddy…This team really really Blows…
June 21st, 20092:50 pm
Ah man wish I could get the TBS broadcast, would be nice to hear Ron Darling instead of Facebook Boog for a change.
This is just an exceptional performance by the Braves today.
Why make the Red Sex have to earn their runs?
Should be 2-0. This is BULL****!
What Francouer comment?? I’m watching That’sBullS@#!
RHR – Lugo’s riding pine.
This just in: The Atlanta Braves don’t want to play baseball anymore this summer.
What a sorry sack of crap. Been waiting for weeks for a game to be “nationally” televised, so I don’t have to listen online, and THIS is what they look like?
Glad I didn’t waste the money on Extra Innings this year.
June 21st, 20092:51 pm
Anyone want to take my bet that we will lose? Oh, and heres another bet I am willing to make, after the Braves lose today, they will get swept by the Yankees and be 32-39, 7 games under .500, in which case Frank Wren will start trading players away and look towards next year.
Sadly Yunel is probably not long for the Braves. Cox and Chipper don’t like him.
Oh well, we had two days of fun…we need to be thankful for that. We set ourselves up for this. We all got too excited over those wins that we’re now feeling a lot of disappointment. That’s life.
Nick Green is a rockstar in Boston
June 21st, 20092:52 pm
I think we are a better team with Chipper Jones on it. However in the next few years we have a lot of talented prospects coming up. Schafer, Heyward, Freeman, Johnson. I don’t want Chipper’s “buisness like ” attitude to rub off on them. Chipper deserves another shot at a ring and it doesn’t look like the Braves will have that team for at least a few years. Chipper doesn’t look very happy right now. It might be time to hand the leadership of the team over to McCann. Pass the torch.
Upton doubles with the bases loaded, ties the game with the mets at 2 (2nd and 3rd no outs, Tampa)
HAHA I love frenchy, his comment was the best
June 21st, 20092:53 pm
Sorry, but that was on Yunel. Even the Boston announcers (including Eckersley) claimed that was the shortstop’s ball=that in the ionfield, the SS takes charge and in the outfield it’s the CF. It fell less than two feet from Yunel. You should have seen the shot in the dugout they did of Bobby Cox. Someone will get reamed over that and I would bet Yunel is the one.
This also just in, after reading Francoeur’s comments.
HOW ABOUT YOU GUYS PLAY BALL LIKE YOU WANNA FRICKIN’ DO IT!!?! I’m sure they’ll get their asses handed to them. But…. you know…
“But we’re all used to that by now.”
Jeff needs to shut his mouth until he actually plays like he belongs. Until then, his little sarcastic drops at the Braves fans ain’t gonna win him any brownie points.
Shut up and play Jeff.
I’m really disappointed in how the Braves play baseball.
Question: what is more painful, dental work or watching this joke of a baseball team screw around on the field like monkies? Going back to yesterday’s game, when Nate dropped the ball that should have been caught, Jair’s bobble, the ball dropping in between Chipper and Yunel…
I think it’s time to face reality and say aloud: Break up this team, now. Perhaps as individuals, they can contribute someplace else, but as a whole, this team is garbage.
June 21st, 20092:54 pm
Huh TBrown. Someone here argued with me over that early in the season when I wanted Infante starting in favor of KJ because Infante was hitting so well at the time. I used the Green/Lugo “hot hand” example and they said the only reason the red sox were playing Green over Lugo was because Lugo had just been activated off the DL, this was in late April/early May so I guess that’s not the reason anymore…
@ Joe, see DOB’s last post for Francoeur’s comments about the upcoming homestand.
Happy Fathers Day DAD! But why the FCK did you raise me a Braves fan in Chicago?? At least the Cubs and White Sox can actually hit the ball and make routine plays.
- Your Son
Are we allowed to dream of having Jason Bay and Youk on the Braves instead of loaf and krusty krotchman
We have not been to a World Series with Chipper as the leader of this team.
June 21st, 20092:55 pm
At least the Mets are imploding again and Orioles may yet beat Phils again
June 21st, 20092:56 pm
DOB, Frenchy is right, though. I’m kinda glad he said that. He shouldn’t have said “best franchises” but they do out number our fans, it seems.
An out away from an official game…maybe Yunel and Chipper will make their 4th inning stupidity up to us in the top of the 6th?
JF – “It’ll be fun to get out there and play. I’m sure it’ll be like seven away games for us. But we’re all used to that by now.”
Wow. I think this comment is inexcusable. We don’t all get paid as much as Jeff. I think disappointments with the offense and defense justify poor attendance.
June 21st, 20092:57 pm
JJ saying to heck with defense…i will do it myself!
Love JJ doing the defense himself. He said f**k y’all
RHR – I could be mistaken, but I don’t think Lugo is on the DL. I think he’s enjoying his paycheck from the bench.
Atl Brave Mental Midgets
If the Braves were currently students, they would be riding the short bus for sure.
June 21st, 20092:58 pm
If you listened to any sports talk radio in the Northeast, you would know that Nick Green is far from a rock star. People are constantly talking about possible trades the Sox could make for a shortstop (they’re not really patient enough to wait for Jed Lowrie to come back from a wrist injury). And yes, Lugo is just not good. The mediocrity of Nick Green is a vast improvement, especially in the field.
Lowrie is on the DL. Lugo is on the bench.
As for the chipper/yunel “dropped” pop up?
Both of my sons coaches make SOMEBODY yell that they’ve got it, and if said person doesn’t catch it, it’s pushup time. If NEITHER of them call it, it’s lap time.
Perhaps Yunel and Chipper should be running laps right now?
It’s just painful (maybe you guys have “seen” it all year, it’s hard to tell the pulse/mood of the team on radio), to watch these guys play with such little fire.
The whole lot of em has to go. Keep McCann and the pitching staff and move on. I’d say keep McLouth too, but a couple more weeks around these guys and he’ll be ruined too.
Start with Bobby and move em on out. Because this group is going nowhere fast.
Nice “teaser” on Friday, guys. What’s that? Oh yeah. It was aginst Dice-K. Big F’n deal.
Maybe poor play affects attendance, but it is true about Atlanta Braves attendance. the culture here is not intense anymore and hasn’t been for a long time.
Nope, personally I knew better than to get excited. ‘Feast or Famine’ – that’s what this team does. Not trying to pick on you, just sayin I’ve been relaxed about this team’s results since the end of May. The Braves have shown me little reason to be excited when they win or bummed when they lose…
Anyway, this game ain’t over yet. Still close.
Hopefully, Francoeur will have the same fate as Justice, and get run the hell out of town after those comments.
Hey, Jeff: those people booing, sneering at you and calling you names in the right field stands at Turner Field are BRAVES FANS, pal. That’s what happens when you strike out and ground into game killing double plays night after night. But good luck in Boston or NY! I’m sure those fans will be more respectful of your feelings.
Steve from OH

RHR–Lugo isn’t that great of a comparison because he’s really not any good anyway. The Sawx have been trying to get rid of him for some time now if I remember correctly. He’s a career .726 OPS hitter, so I think that if they feel that they’ve got a better hitter, they’ll go with him. I think they were planning on playing Lowrie every day this year before he got hurt…(again, if I remember correctly…)
Lew,…I agree…posted similar thoughts. Unless called off, the SS is in charge on that one…

I was born and raised in New Jersey. Born in 81 so when I started watching baseball in 1990 the Braves, Mets, and Yankees sucked. My dad is a die hard Yankee fan and despite our many trips to Yankee Stadium I became a Braves fan to his disappointment. My wife keeps reminding me that I made the wrong choice. I love my Braves, but they are not a happy bunch right now.
I would fire Bobby Cox (replace with Eddie Perez, fire Pendleton and replace with Wellman. Release Anderson. Demote Kelly Johnson. And trade Vazquez (althought he has been great) Gonzalez, Soriano, and Chipper Jones and rebuild the farm system. I don’t know if that would make us better for the next 10 years, but something drastic needs to be done.
The Braves are doing to Escobar what the Mets did to Reyes. Making them play without their child like enthuisism (sp) and neither player is playing the same. It’s a game, players should have fun.
Hey Jeff, does that mean you have to lose?
They act like if there are a ton of fans for the other team like they can’t possibly. Just win Jeff.
He’s a point and in a way I’m glad he or at least someone on the Braves would finally say something about it but maybe if they didn’t suck they wouldn’t have to worry about it.
And why is JF assuming he’s gonna play in those games?
Kind of the nature of the beast here in Atlanta with what Frenchy said. I’m pretty sure it will be about 50/50 for Yanks, Cubs, and Sox. Me personally, I really don’t care. If the Braves handle their business those fans have nothing to cheer for. Atlanta certainly isn’t the only city to see an influx of fans rooting for the other team. Arizona and Florida come to mind as some of those other cities. Lots of transplants, people making business trips here, vacations and such. It doesn’t kill your wallat to pay for a good seat at Turner Field. I’ll do my part on the homestand rooting for the home team.
Heyward will be up in a month. Freeman I’d say a little longer (FloridaBrave)
up where? AA?

Failurecouer should not even be running that pie hole under his pickle nose about anything….worthless BUM!!!!
rob–well, then we’ll just thank God you’re not in charge…
bravesfaninmass..I am fully aware of that…nick green comment was sarcasm….but he is a fan fav according to joe simpson and booger
here is joe’s love for frenchy…frenchy has played well…when….
Rob from SC – well said, I agree with all of that. Chipper needs to be traded asap before his value is at an all-time low, much like Failcoeur.
Justice backed up his comments with the World Series Homerun
June 21st, 20093:02 pm
I just hope someone (a coach) had the balls to tell Escobar that that pop-up was his to catch. The wind blew it toward Chipper, but it was the SS’s ball. Unbelevable. Maybe that one was more of a mistake based on inexperience, but he playing on a major league baseball team and not an A ball team.
Why Does Joe Simpson Kiss Up On Francine So Much…
The Dude Flat Out Sucks and has been a glaring hole on the team for the last 2 years!
Mitchell, its not like the Braves sold out playoffs or a majority of home games during 1996-2000
