Mitchell – You kinda stole my thunder on that point. What if we had these two guys (Soriano, Gonzo) which are on the cheap if you really think about it. Could you imagine the 1990’s! Kinda like when you ask a bank for a loan when you don’t need one anymore. Damn it would have been nice if we had guys like this back then. Crazy thinking but oh well.

Yes and yes. You nailed it. I love Live and Let Die, that one’s a classic.

I saw Tomorrow Never Knows last night on tv. That one is badass too. Both are vastly underrated.

Vinings Jim-

This is the Garret that was so well liked in Anaheim- 4 RBI, good at bats all night, good hitting. Casey is the same way- good, solid hitter, makes contact, drives in runs. That is the way Mike Socicia played baseball and the way the Angels play under him. It’s not all about power…just solid fundimental baseball (and Casey’s gold glove fielding doesn’t hurt either)
And Tom was offering his services because I asked Roman Gal for her pictures…so in reality he was helping me :)

Guys, I am a supporter of Cox. But I believe the no.1 issue that most (including me to a degree) take with him is that he plays to win every night without much consideration to the next day’s game. Tonight is yet another example of most of us wanting him to preserve his best pitchers when he always uses them in their roles regardless of the score. This could hurt us tomorrow if they need Gonzo. But he is consistent with his philosophy. His approach is, “Don’t lose with your best weapons on the bench.”

If the Braves need a closer the next few days, who are they going to use? Soriano & Gonzalez 4 or 5 days in a row? Guess Cox is figuring on some rainouts, so go ahead and pitch his 2 late game aces, since he evidently doesn’t think his other relievers can protect a 6-run lead.

Mark Bradley needs to stick to basketball & football, 2 sports he actually has some insight into. If he truly believes Cox is the best manager he’s ever seen, he should be barred from ever again opining on baseball.

As long as Chance the Manager is sitting in the dugout and making (or not making) the decisions, this team’s chances of making the playoffs are greatly reduced.

This team has the talent to make a run at the playoffs, provided some of the silent bats at the bottom of the order wake up and produce to past standards.

The starting pitching is playoff caliber. So is the bullpen, the back of it at least. The offense can be at that level if everyone plays to established levels.

Unfortunately, in close games, the team has to win in spite of, not with the help of, the guy in the dugout.

Solution: keep winning by 6 or 7 runs. On second thought, if the Braves keep winning, how long are Moylan, Soriano & Gonzalez going to last?
