Wonder if that local writer was one of those who doubted Smoltz could come back from Tommy John surgery, or convert to closer, or convert back to starter from closer, or… need i go on? Maybe it won’t be the “old” Smoltz, but I would not be surprised if it is. Not in the least.

Driver, the walls are still up. They have firefighters on a huge latter looking in the building right now. It didn’t spread to other buildings and it was well confined. There was three helicopters flying above for most of the day which was kinda annoying for us locals. There was a lot of people crying in the streets due to memories and of course losing jobs, etc.

I hate Chip Carey. I don’t want to hate him. I just cant help it! He is the king of hype! He can’t just shut the hell up!

Pregame, his going to commercial tease is “lets see if the Braves can keep up their winning ways.” What winning ways? Ways is plural. Braves won one in a row! I could name another 3 or 4 dummy statements the guy has made tonight but ain’t gonna waste my time!

It’s a shame when I have to feel like the guy who represents my home team is by far, not even close, the WORST play by play TV guy in baseball!

Bronx Brave

June 19th, 2009

So, I’m watching the game tonight on mlb.com, so I get the home team’s telecast, the Red Sox in this instance. It’s really interesting to hear what other teams’ announcers have to say about the Braves. Anyway, tonight, the two Sox announcers are incredulous that Braves don’t seem to have a “group approach” to hitting.

From following the Braves for 30+ years now, it never occurred to me that an entire team would actually adopt an approach toward hitting in any particular game, and that it might, in fact, help the entire line-up be more effective. It sounds like a very good idea to me, however. Is this something that is common in major league baseball? If so, why aren’t we doing it?
