Willy, I can see wanting to protect your pitchers, but i do think sometimes it gets taken a little far. and sometimes you build arm strength by throwing. but then, i’m not speaking from a place of knowledge like Don. I don’t know what that feels like.
I actually saw Rafael Soriano smile a couple times on this trip. No foolin. One on a little exchange with Francoeur and later after a bear hug with McCann. Dude is lightening up, and lighting it up.
LOL, really? Moylan, Gonzo, Soriano our 7,8,9 inning guys in a 7-0 game? Lol, Bobby really wanted the shutout today?
The man is senile. They’ll be too tired tomorrow to pitch in a 4-2 game. Watch, it happens every time he does something stupid like this. Don’t use all of them in a 7-0 game!!!
7-0 going into the 8th…Cox should have had Acosta come in and pitch 2 innings. Dude has performed well enough to believe he won’t give up 7 runs…hasn’t pitched since the 14th (today is the 18th). What an idiot.
They mentioned on the broadcast a couple of minutes ago that Hanson’s next start is against the Yankees…but Joba can still miss us….there’s a thing called off days.
I knew we were going to win today! Love this lineup, way to go Matty D. & Mclouth, Ross, et al!!! It’s so unfair that Diaz won’t get to play in Boston cause we don’t get to face any lefties, that is just way unjust!!! Stick him in there somewhere, come on Bobby!!! And the players weren’t psyched after Escobar’s homer b/c he’s not a popular guy, that’s my personal opinion. He probably only speaks to the ones that speak Spanish to him.
Um…yeah. You’re right: It was a joke. You don’t actually think I meant that BMac was worse than, or even on the same level as Francouer right now, do you?
BMac’s been in a little bit of a slump the last few days, but really…
My sister lives right in the city, so I’m sure she will have an idea of some good spots before/after the game. What are your thoughts on where I can go with my girlfriend, sister, and her boyfriend for some drinks after the game? Any thoughts?
On top of that….Acosta has only pitched 3 innings in a week. Why have the guy on the roster if you are not going to use him the way you should? WTH Bobby?
DOB, you probably don’t remember Green’s arm because he played second here. Kid is playing great and has had a few web gems. Funny I don’t ever see Escobar or KJ on web gems. Funny. Anyway, Nick has basically kicked Lugo to the curb and if the Sox know whats good for them they’ll delay Lowrie’s return. I wish the Braves had given Green a fair shot instead of shipping him out. If he had been the golden child, he would still be here except he would be producing.
I don’t have a problem with using Gonzo/ Soriano….maybe a little with using Gonzo cause he pitched already in the series…but Soriano hasn’t pitched since June 12th…he needed some work, so if we go into Boston he won’t come in and be too rested.
And out of the bullpen the only guys that have had the past few games off have been Gonzo and Soriano so take a chill pill. …would you rather have the short relief over worked? or the 8th and 9th inning guys pitch 1 inning right before the big games?
As for Gonzo and Soriano being used today, have you folks ever heard of getting a pitcher some work. Better to run them out there and get them ready for the weekend series, than to have them sit on their hands during a prolonged losing slump.
Do you think the Braves might call up someone or let Melden start and then call up another arm for the makeup game against the Cubs or just let Vazquez pitch it?
From the previous article re: ESCOBAR. Opinions are like a—h—- RHR, everybody got one. You and I, we’re on the outside looking in. Just guessing my man just guessing. Maybe your guess is better than my guess, who knows. Ask Mr. ESCOBAR at the next game you attend. I’m sure he’ll tell you….I’d certainly love to hear his response as I’m sure most of us would.
You don’t pitch all your closers in one game. EOF, Moylan, Gonzo, Soriano are the 7-9 inning guys. You don’t use them all up in a 7-0 game. Maybe one if they need work, but not both Gonzo and Soriano. Just stupid!!!
Getting our back-end guys work today was smart. We’re about to go up against some of the best in the big right now; we need them to be on their toes and you can’t do that if you let them sit everytime it’s not a close game.
Great win for the Bravos but you do get the feeling that this is one of those times where they win one in impressive fashion and then go on to lose two or three while playing very poorly. Hope I’m wrong but we have been down this road several times this season.
Well, if it ain’t Dense Paul Lentz visiting the blog again, trying to sell stupid. McFann is a huge BMac fan you moron, thus the name.
You did make a good, aolid point about McCann being better than Francoeur. Those stats really drove home the point and, undoubtedl, changed ANYONE’s mind who believed Francoeur was better. I know there was somebody, somewhere on the planet you convinced. Sigh…
(I realize EOF didn’t pitch) but it doesn’t make sense to use your 7-9 inning guys in a blow out. Why can’t a guy get one more days rest? Somehow that is going to hurt? It looks like the rest did Soriano and Moylan well with how they pitched today!!!!
You seem to be the stupid one. Kid, the more you open your offensive mouth, the more you prove exactly what you are. Some friendly advice: shut your pie hole!
No your the stupid one….Moylan has sucked until today…EOF didn’t even pitch….Soriano hasn’t pitched in 6 days…and honestly I think Bobby and Roger needed to see if Gonzo would be able to rebound after what happened the other night…..you act as if every game in Boston will be a save opp. for them….you don’t know that. And even if they didn’t pitch today there’s no way they would pitch 6 days in a row ANYWAY.
Cox used his closers to ensure the win. Sending out a bozo like Bennet (just pitched 4 innings) or Medlen(90 pitches Thursday ) wasn’t an option. Sori neded the work. We need to not fool around with any lead the way we are going
Nice win, but the handling of the bullpen by Cox is an absolute JOKE. He does this crap all the time in blow outs, either up or down. Then there will be three-four tight games in a row where Gonzo & Soriano are needed.
Acosta could have used the work. Cox always has a guy in the pen that he never uses. It’s usually a guy like Acosta or Devine, who the previous season had some issues so Cox won’t use them. Then there are guys like Boyer who was run out there every other day regardless of performance. Does anyone understand Cox’s bullpen strategy? If so let me know.
Wayne you get on here once a month. Watch about 3 games a year, and think you know everything. Bobby has done this before and it backfires because he can’t use Soriano and Gonzo the next day…or he tries and they pitch horribly from being overused.
People, Soriano had not pitched in 5 days, he needed work. As for Gonzo, I don’t think Bobby wanted to take any chances with this one today. They desperately needed a win.
Some of you must not watch the games. Bobby has done this before this year and it hurts the team every time he has done it. No reason to “ensure” a 7-0 game.
I’ve seen Wayne on here a lot soo..go back to your beer please. Soriano threw 13 pitches after not pitching for about a week…and we have seen Gonzo pitch 4 out of 6 days and be fine.
You morons do realize that starters throw upwards of 200 innings right? And that relievers, really busy ones, throw less than half that these days. More than three days in a row for a guy isn’t good, but outside of that you’re not hurting a guy throwing him an inning a day.
He is the problem with using Gonalez and Soriano today. What if they are needed all three days in Boston. Acosta has pitched well. He can hold a 7 run lead.
The Truth
Wait till closer to deadline before trading those 3….we might only be 5 out after today. We need a heavy bat in corner outfield, not just prospects in return
You get on here all the time, and annoy the heck out of 3/4 of the bloggers with your idiocy.
Actually, I am on here a lot more than you think. I have forgotten more about baseball in the last 50 years, than you’ll ever learn on purpose. Your stupidity shows in your posts! For a guy like you, less is more. Practice it.
Wayne has forgotten more baseball than you will ever know.
You need to take his advice and keep quiet. Everytime you post you show your ignorance.
FYI, a lot of folks watch the games and post once in a while, not every 2 minutes. We wait until there is something to say rather than blather like a fool.
I don’t think the Boston series is going to be a massacre like everyone seems to think. Braves have a good chance to win the series. It’s what they do best.

Rob – Diaz in LF, KJ 2nd, Prado 3rd, Chipper DH Kotchman at 1B, that’s probably what you meant anyways, but at least those guys are in the lineup

You morons do realize that starters throw upwards of 200 innings right? And that relievers, really busy ones, throw less than half that these days. More than three days in a row for a guy isn’t good, but outside of that you’re not hurting a guy throwing him an inning a day.

bravos2249 – Wayne takes 2 or 3 week chunks off of watching the Braves. Have to get your facts straight. He wasn’t on here for a long while.

Your gonna need your Bennett’s, Acosta’s, EOF’s, and Medlen’s in Boston than Gonzo and Soriano.

McLouth of the South McFann is a huge BMac fan you moron, thus the name.
Maybe he thought I was trying to exploit BMac’s strikeouts…

He is the problem with using Gonalez and Soriano today. What if they are needed all three days in Boston. Acosta has pitched well. He can hold a 7 run lead.

The Truth
Wait till closer to deadline before trading those 3….we might only be 5 out after today. We need a heavy bat in corner outfield, not just prospects in return

Good win. Just hope that brief offensive outburst doesn’t mean we’re in for our customary 3 game scoring drought.

When Gonzo pitches 4 out of 6 days, it usually isn’t a good sight!

Geez!

Hanson vs. JOba on Tuesday it looks like. Braves have no off day on Monday (cubs makeup game, Vazquez will pitch). I will run home to see that matchup

MFin04,
Wayne has forgotten more baseball than you will ever know.

WHen Moylan gets back to 93 mph with his fastball, then I’ll know he’s back. Until then, he’s not.
