Willy, I can see wanting to protect your pitchers, but i do think sometimes it gets taken a little far. and sometimes you build arm strength by throwing. but then, i’m not speaking from a place of knowledge like Don. I don’t know what that feels like.
I actually saw Rafael Soriano smile a couple times on this trip. No foolin. One on a little exchange with Francoeur and later after a bear hug with McCann. Dude is lightening up, and lighting it up.

I knew we were going to win today! Love this lineup, way to go Matty D. & Mclouth, Ross, et al!!! It’s so unfair that Diaz won’t get to play in Boston cause we don’t get to face any lefties, that is just way unjust!!! Stick him in there somewhere, come on Bobby!!! And the players weren’t psyched after Escobar’s homer b/c he’s not a popular guy, that’s my personal opinion. He probably only speaks to the ones that speak Spanish to him.

DOB, you probably don’t remember Green’s arm because he played second here. Kid is playing great and has had a few web gems. Funny I don’t ever see Escobar or KJ on web gems. Funny. Anyway, Nick has basically kicked Lugo to the curb and if the Sox know whats good for them they’ll delay Lowrie’s return. I wish the Braves had given Green a fair shot instead of shipping him out. If he had been the golden child, he would still be here except he would be producing.

I don’t have a problem with using Gonzo/ Soriano….maybe a little with using Gonzo cause he pitched already in the series…but Soriano hasn’t pitched since June 12th…he needed some work, so if we go into Boston he won’t come in and be too rested.

As for Gonzo and Soriano being used today, have you folks ever heard of getting a pitcher some work. Better to run them out there and get them ready for the weekend series, than to have them sit on their hands during a prolonged losing slump.

It was classy of the Reds to have “Salute to the Atlanta Braves Day” at Great American today. Excellent portrayal of the Braves. Two thumbs up.

You don’t pitch all your closers in one game. EOF, Moylan, Gonzo, Soriano are the 7-9 inning guys. You don’t use them all up in a 7-0 game. Maybe one if they need work, but not both Gonzo and Soriano. Just stupid!!!

Cox used his closers to ensure the win. Sending out a bozo like Bennet (just pitched 4 innings) or Medlen(90 pitches Thursday ) wasn’t an option. Sori neded the work. We need to not fool around with any lead the way we are going

Nice win, but the handling of the bullpen by Cox is an absolute JOKE. He does this crap all the time in blow outs, either up or down. Then there will be three-four tight games in a row where Gonzo & Soriano are needed.
Acosta could have used the work. Cox always has a guy in the pen that he never uses. It’s usually a guy like Acosta or Devine, who the previous season had some issues so Cox won’t use them. Then there are guys like Boyer who was run out there every other day regardless of performance. Does anyone understand Cox’s bullpen strategy? If so let me know.

You morons do realize that starters throw upwards of 200 innings right? And that relievers, really busy ones, throw less than half that these days. More than three days in a row for a guy isn’t good, but outside of that you’re not hurting a guy throwing him an inning a day.
