Glad you asked…those my friend, are Prado’s career big league numbers. Those games played are spread out over a few years, so, while other teams have had time to “get a book” on him, he has continued to perform at a very reasonable level. Time to put him in full time?

Philly now winning 5-4 against Jays
On this team, Matt Diaz is a starting left fielder. Until Frank Wren makes a move to get an above-average player for left field, Diaz needs to start.

Sorry- it’s freebaseballradio.com
Wow, hey you guys, Frenchy has 5 strikeouts this month, did you know that? He had 23 in 109 ABs last month and this month has 5 in 48. So he’s on pace to strikeout 10-12 times this month. He also has 5 walks this month compared to 1 last month. And for fun – 7 RBIs, 1 HR this month and 10 RBIs, 1 HR last month.
Those numbers don’t count today and have 11 more games after today for this month. Not huge strides I know, but the fact is he’s on pace to have an improved month, and that’s something to be happy about.

Well, looks like a great time for Tommy to get his first hit and RBI.
Bases loaded with pitcher up, Oy!
I’ve been saying it for years…lol
When we go to Boston…honestly we should have Diaz in Left/ GA DH or Blanco in LF and Diaz DH…..and Prado at 2nd….that would put the best team on the field.
Having Chipper DH would allow better D at 2nd but it also makes us put KJ at 2nd which doesn’t put our best lineup in there.

Ok, I’m lost…. I’m stuck here at work, no access other than the blog. Any type of info other than “MATTY!!!” or “Have a day” would be great…..
Chop Chop…..ding ding ding…you are the winner.
Diaz may very well be a 4th outfielder. The problem is that Bobby has never let him show us that. He is definitely better than GA this year, and as such, he should be the starting LF.
Diaz > GA
Prado > KJ
I think there are two immediate upgrades to the team, both defensively and especially offensively Bobby would just cut that loyalty BS and do it.
A Dizzy Nick Esasky
Why is it every time I see Hanson, I hear the song “free bird” in my head?
June 18th, 20093:14 pm
Go Tommy! Get that boy that ball.
Go Hanson. Hell yeah!
June 18th, 20093:15 pm
LOL, nice job Hanson!!!
Told y’all I can hit!
Get that man that ball!
First hit and first RBI.
Ha. Great job Tommy!!
Wayne in Utah
Ain’t that some sh*t. Kind of playing the way they should everyday. Nice article in the AJC about Boobie
Nice job, Tommy. Congrats on your first hit.
Gutsy relief work by Fisher.
I dunno Bravos, I understand your logic, but if I’m managing I’m keeping Chipper out of harm’s way as much as possible. A wood chip sidelines him for a week. No, if he can DH, he’s DHing if I can help it. Besides, I think Prado plays a 3B than 2B. Kelly’s AVG is hurting, but he still draws some walks; he’d be fine in the 9 hole with McClouth due up next.
Hanson has a Mark “The Bird” Fidrych quality. Wow, single with bases loaded. Way to go Tommy! braves up 5-0
June 18th, 20093:16 pm
There ya go kid.
Aw Buffalo Braves fan, Tommy Hanson just got his first hit and RBI. I’m at work and actually working so I’m only popping in with my cheers now and again.
WAYTAGO, Hanson!! Whoo-hoo!

Take notes, JF, that’s how you hit with runners ON base
McLouth just singled and drove in 2 – Hanson at 3rd.
Jayson Stark has a new article up on ESPN. One of the pieces I read that was interesting:
Off with the show: Bobby Cox isn’t the only one that has been rubbed the wrong way by Braves shortstop Yunel Escobar’s attention to style over detail lately.
“Somebody better remind him he’s Yunel Escobar, not Gloria Estefan,” said one scout. “There ain’t no show going on. This is baseball. Let’s play.”
It’s the Braves doing their “end a losing streak with a blowout” thing.
Thanks for the link Brooklyn Braves Brawler, can’t get gameday audio to work here at work.
it’s cool. I was keeping track on my cell phone, but my battery died. Watched the first 2 innings while I was out for lunch….. now completely lost haha.
June 18th, 20093:18 pm
Buffalo NY Braves Fan, Tommy just singled to drive in run and make it 5-0.
McLouth just drove in 2 more, 7-0
What is …………………………..happening!
you had to see this type of game coming
Maybe McLouth is more than just a run scorer?
Yeah the weekly outburst. I say we have one more coming before Sunday. Could it be the lineup?????
McClouth delivers! I just hope we don’t do what we usually do and get all our clutch hits for the next 4 days in one game.
Nate with a single to right, 2 runs score. Braves up 7-0
June 18th, 20093:19 pm
In the excitement I forgot the (?)
Yeah that’s why Kelly hasn’t walked 8 times in the last 2 months…get some stats before you throw that out there buddy.
K.C. in LA
Too little too late, I’m afraid. Where in the hell is this team 3 out of every 4 days? The Phils and Mets will win of course. We can’t win games when they lose. This is unfair to Braves fans everywhere: keeping us within 61/2 games so that we HAVE to keep watching until the all star break.
I agree with you on the lineup for the BOS series:
1.) McLouth CF
2.) Escobar SS
3.) Chipper 3B
4.) McCann C
5.) Diaz LF
6.) GA DH
7.) JF RF
8.) Kotchman 1B
(I would put Prado at 9 because he serves as a second lead off type of guy when wrapping around the lineup and he is more likely to be on base for the power-hitting McLouth than JF.)
Yunel ground out, inning over.
June 18th, 20093:20 pm
on the bright side: we’ll win today.
on the downside: we might be done scoring for a week.
How come Bobby doesn’t play KJ against Lefties? Does he not know that he hits lefties better than righties and is hitting over .300?
How come Prado doesn’t play more against righties?
June 18th, 20093:21 pm
Wow – the hits keep coming / Braves gonna turn this around
Who am I kidding – they’ll stink again tomorrow
This team has a will to lose and lose they will
Only three runs left for the weekend. Someone has to stop this team before we use the rest of them up.
It’s actually nice to see them doing this WITHOUT either Mac or Chipper.
June 18th, 20093:22 pm
Wow…7-0. Who’da thought?
Hanson is having a day. See, they quit the fastball thing…
June 18th, 20093:23 pm
I’d like Hanson to pitch a CG. That’d make a nice memory.
Jair, look at all the runs I’ve got. That’s because I’m an ace.
Save some for tomorrow guys!
June 18th, 20093:24 pm
OMG………. winning 7-0————-that automatically means we wont score tomorrow.
June 18th, 20093:25 pm
I really hope they save some of these runs for when I’m at Fenway on Saturday.
Maturin…that would be nice…
I agree with those that say pitch counts are over-rated, but I doubt we’ll see a CG from Hanson today since he has 89 pitches and only 1 out in the 6th inning.
June 18th, 20093:26 pm
Moylan warming up in the bullpen, I don’t want him anywhere near this game!
I’d let Hanson throw 140 today. Bobby needs to make a man out of him.
I’d like Hanson to pitch a CG
This is the era of the Pitch Count, and Tommy has 90 with 1 out in the 6th inning.
that’s 89 pitches for hanson after that walk with one out in the sixth.
Did someone really just say something about KJ against lefties… Prado hasn’t played 2nd in IDK how long
June 18th, 20093:27 pm
7 runs while Chipper goes 0-fer and BMac isn’t in the lineup??? Dang.
Well, Dusty would probably do that. At least Bobby can’t be accused of abusing his starters.
You know that seeing all these runs scored has got to eat at Javy at least a little. No?
I thnnk Moylan should take the day off. He did a great job last night, watching from the pen.
Why can’t Bobby leave in Hanson? Why warm up Moylan now? Tommy’s pitching well. Just walked a guy, but so what. Let him pitch!
It’s obvious that McCann needs to sit more often. He’s holding this team back.
June 18th, 20093:28 pm
How come Prado doesn’t play more period.
Does it concern anyone that people seem to be making solid contact off Tommy?
WTF is Moylan doing with a baseball in his hand?!?!?!?!
June 18th, 20093:29 pm
Braves have 7 runs, they might be able to hold off any potential O’Flaherty/Moylan collapse (note the 4-2 lead in Baltimore, with a 6 run 7th thanks to those two)
Sutton had an interesting comment about him pitching a complete game for his 300th win. That he didn’t know his pitch count for the first 16 years of his career. What’s your opinion on today’s obsession with the number of pitches?
Lookin good baby
June 18th, 20093:30 pm
Heath, like the lineup with one exception…
1.) McLouth CF
2.) Escobar SS
3.) Chipper 3B
4.) McCann C
5.) Diaz LF
6.) Ross DH
7.) JF RF
8.) Kotchman 1B
I know BC will mot use the back up catcher.
#5 starters before Hanson(0-6)could be wrong
If phillies win today, they will keep pace with the braves:)
June 18th, 20093:31 pm
Tommy strands 2 (a walk and a single), and gets through the 6th. Nice game today, and great damage control when he did struggle.
Probably done, I’m guessing.
Nice work today from Hanson. Should be all from him today, I would imagine.
June 18th, 20093:32 pm
There you go. Tommy got out of trouble. Reward him with one more inning. If he gives up a run (or two), then put someone in.
7-0 with 2 runners & the starter running out of steam (pitch count-wise)
Booby better get up Moylen, Soriano, & Gonzo to put away this non-save opportunity win (Course with Moylen & Gonzo the game may become a save
Come On Booby – waste those relief pitchers so we won’t have them tomorrow night.
June 18th, 20093:34 pm
Chop Chop, if I didn’t know better, I’d think you were serious about McCann.
99 pitches is enough. Gotta trust the pen today. They didn’t pitch last night.
Pretty cool to see Hanson make adjustments when he doesn’t have his control or best stuff, and throw six innings of shut out ball. Look out for the days when this guy “has it”, because if the last two starts are what happens when he is off, it’s going to be pretty awesome to see him when he’s on.
June 18th, 20093:35 pm
Good thing you know better, Willy…or do you?
I’ll be at the game Saturday as well. Hopefully they do better than when I just saw them at Baltimore Sunday…11-2 loss. Or else you can consider me a jinx and I won’t go to anymore games. If only that was the problem. Ha.
WOW Chipper is batting .182 this road trip! ouch
June 18th, 20093:36 pm
Seven run lead, late in the game….surely it’s time for Jeff Bennett to come in and do his magic.
Moylan warming up in the bullpen, I don’t want him anywhere near this game! – Brooklyn Braves Brawler
Man, you’re not kiddin’
June 18th, 20093:37 pm
Kinda creepy, Chop Chop.
Walk from Chipper to start the 7th
Braves ain’t losing this game. The Reds aren’t good enough to sweep the Braves.
This would actually be an ideal Kris Medlen opp. Save the rest of the pen. Doubt we will see it though.
June 18th, 20093:38 pm
for all you Chipper haters Ive been seeing lately. eat those numbers just shown on the broadcast.
