Nice rip Kelly. Way to DRIVE the ball to the opposite field. I know that Kelly has had his struggles, however he has some pop in his bat.
Meanwhile, Vazquez has pitched 7 innings, 10 strikeouts, one run, and no walks. Way to lay the bunt down Vazquez. I’m glad that I picked Braves pitching for my ESPN fantasy baseball team for today. So far, lol.
Tomhawkin, he’s had one hitless game and today since his last two-hit game. Is that really “falling off?” Pujols just had an 0-for-15 before his hit yesterday. It happens.
Javy recovered in spite of the two errors(Escobar and umpire)but had to throw a lot of unnecessary pitches. You know I wonder if the defensive errors are kept and available to the public who keeps the umpires stats, and what happens if an umpire struggles with calls in season? Also, is there a set number of missed calls before something is done?
c jonze…………it isnt that I “want” to see Vazquez traded. It’s that the Braves NEED right handed power. There is NO way that the Braves are going to make any kind of run with the offense we have now. In order for the Braves to get that elusive big bat, we are going to have to trade something that another team covets (starting pitching). Of all the starters that can bring a big bat, the most likely candidate to be used as bait is Vazquez.
Now if Francoeur was producing in the manner that Braves management “expected” him to, then there would be no need to even discuss trading Vazquez. However, either the Braves keep what we have and give up on this season…or…the Braves explore options on improving our lack of power from the right side of the plate.
Now, if you have any realistic suggestions as to how the Braves can improve their lack of right handed power without giving up a starter of Vazquez’s caliber, then by all means, please post it.
Jeff Schultz is spreading some awful rumors about me on his little Twitter thing. I think he told his minions that I had a Brady Bunch CD, or a Partridge Family CD, or something.
Anyway, glad I can be a source of amusement for Twitter boy. The denizens know better.
By the way, so much for that majors-leading average with RISP and two outs. Does seem like they pile up a bunch of those hits after they’ve already got some games won, or maybe I’m just being cynical.
Vazquez has thrown 113 pitches through eight, but he looked really strong in that last inning. I wouldn’t be surprised to see him pitch the ninth if the Braves don’t score a run in this inning.
Joe: Yes, if all goes as planned, I heard that Smoltz will likely start against the Braves both in Boston (Sunday) and here (Friday or Saturday), which would be his second and third starts. He’s making his last scheduled rehab start tonight.
with the way both of these teams are hitting, my pitching numbers could EXPLODE if this game goes into extra innings. I picked the Braves pitching for my ESPN fantasy baseball team. I would rather see the Braves score now to win the game. However, if this game is going to go into extra innings, I might as well benefit. Just keep striking them out and walking no one, lol.
