Eric– MLB has always been at least one hitter slow for me all season.
Stolen bases against Maholm– Maybe not stolen signs but something McLouth picked up or knew from his time with Pirates
One big difference between the great pitching staffs of the past and those of recent vintage is giving up runs after the Braves score. I’d love to see a stat about how many times Braves starters have given up runs in the immediate inning after the team scores. I bet it’s too high.
“Tomahawkin – it’s not just that….Turner Field’s been playing the same tired, boring songs and sounds for years. And not to mention that extended G chord on the organ at the end of every inning. What conversation is going on in the sound booth?”

I have no doubt that Norton is nicked up. Pretty much every player at this point of the season is nicked up in some way. While I’m willing to give the Braves the benefit of the doubt that Norton is injured, I would not be surprised if the Braves put him on the disabled list in order to bring up Canizares AND give Norton time to work on his swing in the cage. The thinking could be that if Norton gets his swing turned around, then he can be a valuable pinch hitter later in the season. However, right now, the Braves need SOMEONE who can get a hit playing first base.
Two positions that are known for power (right field and first base) have given the Braves a combined 7 homers all year. That is simply unacceptable. The Braves cannot afford to just give at-bats away.
Brawler, here’s a word from someone who’s been there: Yes, I understand that bills need to be paid, but she will probably want you there. It doesn’t matter if the whole family is there, she will still want you there. That’s the way women roll. That’s not a bad thing either.
Classic EU right there! LOL! Amazing how Lonnie ever got down the line with that trailer he was pulling behind him. That guy was hamstring pull waiting to happen!

Whoever made the comment about giving away too many at bats is exactly right. First base, right field, second base and left field are outs 75% of the time.
Norton’s ankle injury, scene 1, take 1 …
Cox: Norty, has your ankle?
Norton: It’s OK, skipper.
Cox: You sure?
Norton: Yeah. I’m sure.
Cox: Lemme take a look.
(Cox bends down, reaches behind him for souvenir Mickey Mantle bat he’s had since he was with Yankees).
Cox: How is it now? (as he chokes up on bat and gets Norton’s ankle with the sweet spot)
Norton: Arrgghhh!
Cox: Say, that looks pretty bad. You might want to take a day or two for that.
Norton: (Groaning as he drags now wounded leg behind him back to locker room). OK, Skipper.
Well, hell, it beats how Sylvester Stallone got to be the keeper in “Victory.”
DOB,
Are you covering the games in Baltimore this weekend? I will be at Saturday night’s game. Hopefully the weather is good enough to play.
I was in Atlanta during the D-Backs series in mid May and I was only able to see the Friday game as Sunday’s was rained out. We were there walking around and praying for it to clear up. That was my son’s first Turner Field experience. He’s only two so he won’t remember it anyway. In fact he fell asleep during the tour because it was during his normal nap time.
I wish all stadiums would be built with a retractable roof. I know it’s expensive but when you’re talking $200-$300 million, what’s the difference? Of course that would be cheap compared to Yankee Stadium costing $1.5 billion.
Shut the hell up you guys. There’s a game going on…the ump’s making bad calls all over the place and you guys age babbling on about a damn foul ball. You guy’s a getting lamer every day.
Where in North AL? I hate this place but you can’t beat the cost of living and the money I am making. Best thing about this place is that I don’t have to get the MLB package to watch Braves game! Other than that, it’s a wash!

DOB and Carroll– Whichever of you is going to Baltimore– Great Afghan restaurants just past Washington Monument owned by brother of President Karzai. This is the brother that some observers claim now controls certain substances produced in that country. Also, great seafood, Greek, and Italian restaurants especially in the area where they produced “The Wire” and one other famous cop show, both written by former Baltimore newspaper writer. Also, the Walters Museum and the Baltimore Museum of Art are great. Enjoy! Parks for running too.
