N8, 6:01 pm…After watching “Weekend at Bernies” … I’m not so sure that if Jeff was assasinated, that Bobby wouldn’t still stroll him out there, …”
Weekend at Frenchy’s
I love it!
Someone asked earlier who they would want to pitch the 7th. The correct answer should be the game’s starting pitcher.
“Oh, and can whoever cursed Norton please take the needles out of the Voodoo doll? Thanks.”
No, he’s constipated – I told you that already.
June 10th, 20097:14 pm
HEY DOB -
Write a story on Pat Venditte. I promise a ton of people will read it. Make a case for trading for him or write something about how he went undrafted for 19 rounds (yet throws with both hands).
(he played in the Northwoods league, too!)
Jim Beauchamp fan
In my book, Chipper is still one of the best fielding 3rd basemen.
Jim………..I totally agree with your assessment that the Braves have a strength in starting pitching. However, if you are going to drastically improve the lack of right handed power in the line-up….you basically have two choices. No team is going to give up a big right handed bat UNLESS you do one of two things. 1. give up a premium starting pitcher. 2. give up premium prospects (meaning the Braves are going to have to give up a lot more than they gave up to get McLouth from the Pirates).
You have to give up quality to get quality. No team is going to want our garbage (kelly, garrett, norton, franceour, etc.) in return for their stud players. So the choice is either giving up our best prospects or a starting pitcher to get that elusive right handed power bat that will help put the Braves over the hump.
June 10th, 20097:15 pm
Hitters 5-8 are the Braves version of “Murders Row”
You get any rallies started ahead of these guys, there’s a good chance they’ll be killing them.
It's a new page on the blog...
So, time once again to not that Tommy Hanson is a lard@$$.
ANTI(ironic?)-NEGATIVE GUY, you got the wrong end of the stick. It was a copy-paste that I absent-mindedly stuck in the box and hit submit before I caught it. Sorry to rob you of a chance to feel self-righteous, though.
Nice throw by Frenchy.
That was the old Jeff Francoeur. Wow. Where’s that been? Nice play.
June 10th, 20097:17 pm
Nice running snag Jeff.
June 10th, 20097:18 pm
Chip Caray is living proof that nepotism is alive and healthy.
Otherwise, how else can this obnoxious Cubs homer be an Atlanta Braves announcer if not for Skip Caray?
re: Noah Peel
When some idiot doesn’t pay his bills everyone gets angry.
But when large corporations screw everybody – well, that’s just capitalism at work.
June 10th, 20097:19 pm
David O’Brien……….I totally agree with what you found out about Jordan Schafer. Making the jump from Double-A to the Majors was too difficult for him right now. If he works hard in Triple A and makes the adjusments that he needs to make, I see no reason why he cant be a very good Major League player. I like his swing, he has speed, and he will draw walks. He just had a problem making contact for Atlanta. However I am not down on him like I am on Franceour.
There is a difference between a player who is struggling, yet has “it” (Jordan Schafer) and a player who is struggling and doesnt have “it” (Jeff Franceour)
June 10th, 20097:20 pm
McCann got the worst of that.
OY!! Come on JJ. Gotta do some work now.
Dude you wrote it, what the hell u talking about!!!!!!!! Just put that out there for fun??????? A-hole!!!!!!!!!!
WOW..Watch where you drop your damn bat LaRoche.
June 10th, 20097:21 pm
Santa Claus, stop making me google big words.
There you go JJ!! Way to get out of it.
June 10th, 20097:22 pm
faninva……….I never said that you cant disagree with Braves management in order to be a “true Braves fan”. I have been critical of Braves management myself on a number of occasions. However, what I have been harping on is so-called Braves fans ripping Braves management because they dont like to see their favorite players let go. Being more loyal to past their prime players than to the team is not an indication that one is a true Braves fan.
That inning right there is why Jair Jurrjens is a better Game 7 pitcher than Derek Lowe. JJ seems to get himself out of jams without allowing any runs.
June 10th, 20097:23 pm
Hi all…slow night here on call at Kosairs Childrens Hospital in Louisville…all kinds of firewall activity preventing my mlb.com player from keeping me up to date…any updates would be appreciated…and to pass the time Ive been reading the posts-I respect that there seems to be a current of opinion against this Paul Lentz fellow being a nimrod, but he does make some good points about being a good fan…he’s not all bad
Dangit, Andy! Ya wanna be a little more careful? Shoot…that could been REALLY bad…
OK, well, I hope you’re right…hu, Andy LaRoche almost ruined that deal…
MFin04 – that’s a big claim considering Lowe’s history and JJ having not pitched in a post season game.
June 10th, 20097:24 pm
McFann – What happened with McCann and the bat? I was outside.
Where was Wilson playing?
Ben & Jerry’s just came out with a new flaor: Chip Caray.
Cow chips in bland mayonnaise-flavored ice cream.
June 10th, 20097:25 pm
How come the Chip Carey bashers out there didn’t notice his “wardrobe malfunction” just minutes before the game?
While chatting with Joe, the little green Peachtree TV signpost logo fell off of his white shirt… and they didn’t miss a beat. It gave me a good laugh. I had to reverse the TiVo to see what the heck that was that fell down!
When they came back from the commercial, the logo was still detached. Joe’s logo was still attached to his lime green shirt.
June 10th, 20097:26 pm
The Braves are historically bad when facing a pitcher for the first time. They are also historically good when facing a former teammate. So something has to give tonight.
Okay even I knew Charlie would throw a 1-1 curveball….Escobar got a hit…but the braves know Charlie sit on that type of stuff
June 10th, 20097:27 pm
Yikes. JJ looking shaky again, third start in a row.
Man. Where was Morton thorwing at this speed last year. 94 on that four seamer will make a difference for him.
Almost a nice play by the Pirates
Something about Paul Lentz
June 10th, 20097:28 pm
Paul Lentz roams about the tenderloin selling copies of the “Street Sheet” for subsistence. He uses the internet at the library.
Blog is crashed
I’d of laughed if that FB hit LaRoche in the coconut!
Andy laRoche got hit with a pitch and he had his bat right up above Mac’s head…cause he was going to swing…and he just dropped it and it hit Mac in the face mask….it was no accident….he could have dropped it somewhere else.
Hey Happy Feet with a FC.
Has Morton won the Cy Young Award?
June 10th, 20097:29 pm
Sad truth………..San Francisco is a straight male’s paradise. There are more straight women than straight men (due to the number of gay men here) here in San Francisco. It’s about supply and demand. Straight men in San Francisco can be selective. I love variety. I enjoy my freedom. Getting married does not interest me at all.
Yet many of you cant see that. When you think San Francisco you think “gay”. However, I love living here. Plenty of career minded females who are not looking to get married. Friends with benefits and no strings attached are common place here in San Fran.
So you guys can keep bashing San Fran. I’ll keep enjoy the ladies without being tied down.
McCann sure has been sucking lately.
In other news: Ben & Jerry’s new iced cream flavor “Chip Caray” is the lowest selling ever after a massive boycott among the former Confederate states that get the Braves.
Something about Charlie Morton
June 10th, 20097:30 pm
It’s clear from the way he’s pitching: he’s no Tommy Hanson.
June 10th, 20097:31 pm
Yet many of you cant see that. When you think San Francisco you think “gay”.
Maybe because gays make up 22% of San Francisco’s population as opposed to 4% of the national U.S. population?
June 10th, 20097:32 pm
DANGIT!! Stop with the freaking popups!!!
And LaRoche got HBP and dropped his bat on BMac’s mask…couple inches over and we’d be seeing Ross at the moment.
Don’t go that far…but yeah, he’s been in a mini-slump.
Paul Lentz – doesn’t sound like too sad of a truth to me. And when I think SF I think golden gate bridge, and THEN gay. I don’t have a problem with gay people though, and I’d love to live in SF.
Ah! Bravos2249 beat me to it…
June 10th, 20097:33 pm
wow, I now see that guys name is “sad truth” lol.
“I’ll keep enjoy the ladies without being tied down.”
Paul Lentz likes to be “tied down”. It’s freaky. Oh, and Paul, that dude just looks like a lady. Better check more carefully.
When you say you like the variety in San Fransisco
Are you talking about the men AND the ladies
What happened to Charlie Morton? FSNP says he went down the tunnel and have somebody up in the bullpen.
Morton is hurt?
June 10th, 20097:34 pm
Is morton leaving the game?
Is sooo…I hope he’s not hurt…but BURN PIRATES BURN!
Paul Lentz must have struck a nerve—-You are squealing like stuck pigs. How dare he question your fanship!!!
And Charlie Morton is already gone.
Morton has the stomach Flu..is it bad that I’m loving this?
June 10th, 20097:35 pm
Thats why you trade Morton he is and injury risk.
Great deal Wren
Good Call Chip…
I had Pregnant Pauses as well before the game, There must be a virus going around…
re:NOAH PEEL,,,,,,,,,When jerks like NOAH PEEL don’t pay their bills, evrybody suffers and it has nothing to do with big corporations, And I’m sure u the same person as nOAH PEEL.
Steve from OH
Ha, Duke forgot to put on his spikes before he went out on-deck.
He can’t take the pressure. He realizes he’ll never be a Tommy Hanson.
Morton’s coming out the game. That will make the Pirates fun feel better about the trade.
The Pittsburgh feed showed Joe Kerrigan and the trainer talking to him before the first inning and watching him intently throughout the inning.
Charlie’s got the runs!
JJ having to throw a ton in these first two innings, almost to 40 pitches
June 10th, 20097:36 pm
Maybe some of us like to be tied down while enjoying the company of a (ahem) lady.
Apparently this umpire is racist, because JJ isn’t getting any calls whatsoever!
Isn’t it ironic that a guy named DUKES is going to pinch=hit for someone who has an UPSET STOMACH.
Come On Blue!!!
I don’t think Bobby C. Yells Wow! from the bench!
Saved by the foul…
June 10th, 20097:37 pm
You would think JJ would notice Morton is not in the game anymore.
Nova Scotia Steve
Report: ESPN’s Buster Onley is reporting Morton has a bad case of diarrhea…
Not sure I believe it…
Lentz – … I’m sure the ladies of San Fran are impressed with your smooth social skills. Thanks for sharing your life with us here on the baseball blog. As a stock holder in Kimberly-Clark, the maker of Kleenex, I appreciate your patronage.
Chris…………….You would love San Francisco. Lots to do here, great tourist attractions, plenty of sports, and hot looking females who arent so hung on getting married like southern women are (I was raised in Arkansas in a small town).
I like Hara Me Yo.
“He can’t take the pressure. He realizes he’ll never be a Tommy Hanson.”
Now, THAT was funny. Not true, I’m sure. But funny.
DOB is Zach Duke staying in the game to pitch?
June 10th, 20097:38 pm
How many bet Wren’s up there laughing right now?
No word yet on Charlie.
That was the first time a Pirates pitcher has pinch-hit since … well, since Monday night.
Yeah he’s gonna pitch on 1 days rest…honestly
I guess don’t think that Morton is going to endear himself to the fans.
Now isn't that something
June 10th, 20097:39 pm
“Report: ESPN’s Buster Onley is reporting Morton has a bad case of diarrhea…”
Oh my. Constipations’ mortal enemy.
If Morton is sick you know how many media people are going to be over this…well not many cause it’s Atlanta but still..lol
June 10th, 20097:40 pm
Man I tired of the Amstel Light Commercials
What happened to the Bud Light Wazuppppp! Commercials?
Those used to kick rear!
That’d be nice…but he did just pitch on Monday…
Chrissy is hot.
I’m from a small Arkansas town and I also like the ladies.
Looks like its Karstens coming in. Nice to see Duke stay in.
It is so refreshing to see our starting pitching this year. Even on nights where they dont have their best stuff, they somehow grind it out. Lowe’s sinker couldnt sink properly last night. Yet he went 7 innings and gave up only 3 runs. Looks like Jurrgens’ pitches arent going where he wants them to go, yet through 2 innings, no runs.
June 10th, 20097:41 pm
Leave Morton alone. He mighta been real nervous leading up to this game and it’s just drained him. Then again, he coulda just eaten Sonic before the game and got the runs,so. I’m with ya DOB on Sonic, that’s some overpriced crap! Nothing on thier menu is that good, except for the mozzarela sticks.
BILL!!!! Get off the internet blogs!!!!
Wow. Imagine you’re a Pirates fan right now and the guy you traded one of your fan favorite players for pitches one inning and has to come out of the game to go to the bathroom.
anti-negative, listen to me you giant freak, scroll back up to the original comment. Then look a little below it. That’s me saying the post was an accidental COPY PASTE job. I WAS COPYING SOMEBODY ELSE’S WORDS TO TALK ABOUT IT IN AN EMAIL. Can you cut me some slack?
p.s. anti-negative is like saying minus-minus. Is that on purpose? If so, neat. I have my doubts, though.
Chip Caray’s dog is named Tinkerbell.
Do the doggies have a place to poop at The Ted?
June 10th, 20097:42 pm
Wow Loaf…nice…you should be cut immediately!!!
“You would love San Francisco. Lots to do here, great tourist attractions, plenty of sports, and hot looking females who arent so hung on getting married like southern women are (I was raised in Arkansas in a small town).”
My Parents Live in Jonesboro and Fayetteville AR…
I also Hate the fact that Southern Women are so hung on getting married out of high school…Then to Turn Out being 25/Divorced/And 2 kids!
Loaf didn’t feel like batting … 1 pitch and says “you do the rest”
We talk baseball, other sports, music, movies, BBQ and whatever (except politics or religion)
