I’m sick and tired of umpires getting away with obvious bad calls and baiting players. Remember Mike Cameron and his supposed bump of the ump even though the ump came into him. It’s happening way to much and the league needs to step in and fix this. Fans go to watch the players not these clowns calling games. The braves should have won anyways but it definitely hurt. I’m glad bobby and chipper stood up for yunel on the popup and maybe all this emotion can help the team get fired up about playing baseball. Last I checked the mets and phils have major holes and can definitely be caught.

hey David O’Brien…. I I just wanted to let you know that the guy vacuuming the bullpen was in the visitors bullpen, not the Braves bullpen. and the bullpen that you say was empty, had Matt Capps in it.

After this series…the Braves have the following schedule through the end of the month:

3 at Baltimore
3 at Cincinnati
3 at Boston
1 vs Cubs (make-up)
3 vs NYY
3 vs Boston
3 vs Phi (2 games wrap around to July)

This is a very difficult schedule coming up for the Braves and, as NC Braves Fan has eluded, could actually determine what the Braves do in regards to trades in July.

Another reason I like the McLouth trade is that even if the Braves become sellers in July (due in large part to that difficult schedule), McLouth represents both an upgrade for the immediate future AND the for the next couple of years–at a relatively inexpensive cost.

Going back to the schedule…the Mets and Braves get the biggest raw deal every year in the NL when it comes to the interleague schedule. Their “natual rivals” of NYY and BOS, respectively, cause them to have to face these two teams TWICE every year. The Phillies, on the other hand, don’t play the Yankees at all, and only play Boston for one series. I know some are going to say that is whining…but, in reality, there really is a reason to be upset about this if you are the NYM and the Braves…

CB………..your proposed Vazquez/Hawpe trade accomplishes little. The Rockies know that they arent going to win anything this year. The trade would improve their pitching, however they not going to catch the Dodgers this year. Trading for Hawpe would improve the Braves offense. However, it would make a left handed hitting line-up even more unbalanced. In other words, trading for Hawpe would not improve the Braves enough to win the division. The Braves need a right handed power hitter. Simple as that. I would not make the Hawpe trade by giving up Vazquez.

I think if the Braves are buyers in July (and that remains to be seen after the late June schedule) … they should actually go for a modest upgrade in RF and take their chances. I think as the season unfolds, the Braves’ pitching will start to work in their favor vs. the Mets & Phils.

We just need to get Francouer traded, replace him and we might have enough to secure the WC. I don’t think it necessarily has to be with a 30-HR guy … just someone who’s competent with the bat who won’t cost an arm and a leg.

2009: $5.5 million, 2010: $7.5 million, 2011: $10 million club option w/$500,000 buyout, 2012: Free Agent… These are Brad Hawpes contract numbers…Vazques is 2009 11.5 million and 2010 11.5 million…Doubt the Rockies would make that trade.
