Hard to believe the Pirates had Bay, McLouth and Nady in the OF. That’s an All Star Outfield in my mind but all are gone. Small market I know but I can see how pissed off the Pirate fans must be with the moves they have made. Oh well better them than us!

Yeah, kinda. Not bad when you can move a non-impact player like McLouth, bring up a good prospect at the minimum, replenish the position in the minors, and get at least one likely mid-rotation starter, all at the same time. Someone was having pity on the Pirates for that trade? Puh-leeze.
McLouth is a fine player, glad to have him, but, let’s not get carried away and think he’s some game-changing star and the Braves just pillaged the Pirates.

Why the hell did Bobby start Garret Anderson in left against a left-hander? When Diaz covers SO MUCH more ground than Garret and doesn’t lollygag in the field like Garret and oh yeah, he’s a better hitter than Garret even against righties, not to mention lefties.

Well another quality start from KK. Not going to knock anyone’s socks off, but given what we have been used to seeing from the 5 spot (where I think he will be after Hanson settles in), what an improvement. It’s our game to lose from here. Moylan-Soriano-Gonzales, perhaps coming up. Wouldn’t mind seeing Kris Medlen finally make an appearance either.

just dont get the “a player cant be cut for financial reasons” clause in the collective bargaining agreement. In the NFL, players get cut all the time for “financial reasons”. (PAUL L)

McLouth is going to be an obvious fan favorite here. A lot of people have pointed to his decline in offense since his peaks last year. But if I were not so lazy, I’d be extremely interested to look at what his numbers were pre- and post Nady and Bay trade. My bet is his production suffered when they left and he was forced to hit without real protection in the lineup. Now he has that again.
And Yunel. Half the plays he makes you absolutely love him, and half the plays you want to scream, what are you doing. Sometimes you want to do both on the same play.

Steve from OH, absolutely. I think both clubs accomplished their goals with the trade. I thought a letter from Huntington was a little much, but they did sign him prior to the season. Might have been a few Pirate fans that were confused. But let’s be honest, they just need talent….younger than McLouth’s 27, if that makes sense.

I decided to take a look at the career stats of both Jeff Franceour and Brian McCann:

Considering that Franceour has played in almost 100 more games……other than triples, RBI’s (and not by that much on RBI’s), homers (Franceour has him by 1), and stolen bases (again, Franceour has him by 1)…….McCann has Franceour easily beat. In 600 less at-bats, McCann has way more walks, way less strikeouts, 30 points higher on the batting average, and of course, the 3 All-Star appearances.
It’s not even close. Brian McCann is a MUCH better hitter than Jeff Franceour. Other than the triples………McCann is going to CRUSH Franceour’s numbers when he gets 600 more at-bats.

We manufactured a run there. Good for us. Coach will be happy. I’m happy. The offense seems to have found the spark that it needed with McLouth at the top.
But that inning was a prime example of a team “settling” for one run in an inning that could have put the game away.
Unlike Tomahawkin, I don’t think it’s “in the bag”. But certainly we should win this game. So it shouldn’t come back to bite us.

Just checked out the PawSox stats. Not much hitting going on there. Pitching looks good, but we need sticks and I kinda doubt the BoSox are going to be able to give up anyone on the everyday roster.
OK lets look at that 6th innig. A batting average of 750 but only one run thanks to a stolen base. No discipline
