I can’t see the BoSox being interested in Diory Hernandez. He has played solid defense but not much there offensively so I think it must be Yunel. I’m not a huge Yunel fan but he is solid. We would have to get a lot in return to give him up.
The rumor was that Francoeur was on the table for Mclout, But the Pirates wanted Gorkey instead. The pirates were willing to take a chance on a unproving player instead of five major league seasons with Francoeur !!! That’s says a lot !!!!
Good lord, this team just constantly gives the other team help. Boneheaded baserunning….then another Chipper error. Come on guys, for crying out loud. It’s no wonder they average less than 50% capactiy at the Ted.
Something has to be done about the Braves base running. If the bottom of the order was coming up, I could see gambling on the base paths. But I cant count the number of times that Escobar has been nabbed, with Chipper coming up. Not only that, but Brian Snitker, the 3rd base coach, has sent the runner who subsequently got thrown out at the plate, with Chipper coming up. It would be nice if Bobby Cox would emphasize “situational” base running to the players.
I dont mind Matt Diaz sliding off the bag on the double. That is going to happen. He was playing hard and he slid off the bag. However, what Escobar did was just plain dumb. I like Escobar’s play. However he needs to correct his base running because he makes too many mistakes on the base paths.
It was nice to see another starter make it through 6 innings.
Steve-OH, Efrim, absolutely, re working both ways. I think the Braves may have overpaid a hair, but, the buyer pays premium when the supply is short, no? That’s fair. I was mainly responding to the thought that the Pirates got buried.
I gave in to my optimistic nature, therefore I’m actually checking out the in-game tonight (actually, I’m doing some work, but the other sounds good). Not too bad, since the Braves took an early lead. By “not too bad”, of course, I mean short of thrown-from-my-horse-and-trampled-a-couple-three-times bad. Like that.
Can someone explain what Esco did the last inning? sorry, catching the game through Gameday only. Was he going to the second and got caught in between first and second?
PWHjort..all these stats prove one thing…good job Wren. Like the guys on MLB Network have said, the best part of the trade is how soon the Braves made it happen.
Brian McCann sure as hell doesn’t block the plate anymore. Way to go Chipper, all those runs are yours you piece of crap. You suck in the field, you are at best a DH in this league!!!!
Gotta say I did like the effort by Frenchy..but why must Bobby wait until a pitcher gives up the lead to take them out…..I mean 3 back to back hits isn’t a BIG enough sign?
It just keeps getting better, doesn’t it? Whenever we bring in one of our bullsh!t relievers, a starter suffers for it. Thanks Moylan, you Australian piece of scum!
just watched McLouth on TV hit a homer, hit to the opposite field and steal a base. I take back everything negative I have said about him. The guy can play. The Braves got a steal.
Poor KK…and THIS is exactly why Moylan should’ve spent 2 or 3 months working in the minors..getting his arm…but noooo….he was back….the guy just doesn’t have the movement he had before the surgery.
Sure could have used some runs that Diaz & Escobar denied us on the basepaths.
DOes Frenchy know how to actually dive for a ball rather than just fall down & stretch out his glove – anyone that says he is even decent in the outfield does not have a clue.
We cut the throw from the outfield going home and the relay from the pitcher’s mound is one-hopped and off center to home plate.
Folks, the Braves bull pen is a bigger problem than the offense. The Braves need someone who can pitch the 7th-8th innings. Without that guy, you can go get whatever bat you’d like, it will not matter because Bennett-Moylan-O’Flaherty is not what can get you to the playoffs.
These type of games are the ones where we need a “stopper”, similar in respect to a closer, but one who can be used without hurting an ego in an earlier inning.
Two years ago, Moylan was that man. It is clear that he needs to go down and work on his game. I would have brought in Soriano.
