Braves Stink,

Then stop watching. Stop rooting. Go relieve your stress and release your anger elsewhere, not on a professional baseball team. For 14 straight years, the Braves formula provided championship baseball. Why am I not to believe this team isn’t built similar to past teams. They are in an awful slump and that is obvious, but have shown signs to be a very good baseball club. Not praying, just observing wisely, not harshly like most of you on here.

kirkinga “Folks we’re only down by 2 with 1/3 of the game remaining.”

You’re kidding, right?

They were down by 1 in at least two games prior to todays game and couldn’t score in 21 innings!

So where is the pony under all this sh*t?

I’ve been coming here for past two seasons, so I know the fickleness is expected. I’m just appalled by it.

Let’s keep it real -

Tom Glavine Rookie Year: 1987 5.54 ERA
John Smoltz Rookie Year: 1988 5.48 ERA
Greg Maddux Rookie Year: 1986 5.52 ERA

And, they turned out fine. Calm down people.

Final line on Hanson, who’s day went way, way South, six innings, six hits, seven runs, six earned. three homers….one walk, five strikeouts…..i didn’t see that one coming. But the Brewers obviously timed him after the first time through the order….91 pitches, 30 balls, 61 strikes.

Doesn’t matter what Glavine is doing cause he doesn’t have a job. At least the homers he did give up where to good hitters on bad pitches. Had it been on good pitches to bad hitters, then we’d have something to worry about.

Still don’t know why whoever it was kept calling or let him throw fastballs right there for them to hit though….I mean every homer was hit on a fastball. You think after 2 homers you’d change it up.

If you look at Hanson’s history, he has struggled the first couple times out (usually high pitch counts) at each stop and then turned it up a notch. Which shows he knows how to adjust.

Time will tell if he’s got the “adjustments” in him (I think he does), to succeed up here. He’s obviously got the stuff.

John Smoltz went 2-7 with a 5.48 ERA in his first 12 starts of his career. That was AFTER giving up only 1 ER in 8 innings in his debut. Which means after his stellar debut, he went 1-7 with a 6.10 ERA in his next ll.

I’m not worried.

What a bunch of f’ing morons. The kid got through 5 innings with 68 pitches and 4 hits. For once Bobby’s line would be accurate. “Kid looked great, just made a couple mistakes.” The 0-2 fastball down the middle to Braun was the bad one.

we need a true leadoff hitter, a powerful RH hitter to hit between Chipper and McCann, and for Bobby Cox and Frank Wren to get rid of Jeff Francoeur. It would be great if we could find a second baseman with speed. Not to many of them around though.

time to remind you again the first couple years’ stats of the ol’ three:

maddux: 2-4 (era 5.52), 6-14 (era 5.61)
glavine: 2-4 (era 5.54), 7-17 (era 4.56)
smoltz: 2-7 (era 5.48), 12-11(era 2.94)

the big three’s first year stats were amazingly similar.

Not saying Hanson could not be better for the first year, just saying as long as he’s got the stuff, he’ll be fine.

Prattvillenolzfan

Hey Pryguy

Are you one of these fans who thinks that EVERYTHING COX does is wonderful…….I mean he was the ONLY ONE responsible for all of our division titles right……

Chipper, Maddux, Glavine, Smoltz, McGriff, Justice, Bream, Pendleton, Sheffield, all of them had NOTHING to do with it did they……..

Time and time again, Cox has proved that when he stays the hell out of the way, we will be successful, but when he gets involved, things fall apart.

Look at our bullpen the last couple of years.

Look at our bench situation the last couple of years.

Look at how he just sits there this year….at least the last couple of years he’d run out of the dugout everynow and then and get thrown out of a game…He doesn’t even do that anymore.

My only point is that you could tell Hanson was getting a little gassed in the 5th, I think the 6th would’ve been a good inning to put in someone else (not Bennett however).

By bringing him out in the 6th, it destroyed all the confidence that he would’ve gained.

Now why don’t you go and fu– yourself

Nate from NCState

I think we could all use a little Bill Parcells philosophy around here..

Steve from OH

I know he’s young, but a 15 day stretch against the majors couldn’t hurt him, right?

Except that he’s in A ball, isn’t hitting for much power there, never mind giving away an option year, adding him to the 40-man roster, and service time considerations. Remember how something like that worked out for Schafer and JoJo Reyes?

I just wanted to know your credentials compared to a Hall of Fame manager. All you can give me are personal opinions on his performance over the years, and such broad examples. Has he made mistakes before, absolutely. Only human. Do I trust in his managing over the course of a season or the course of a player’s career. Absolutely. I’d expect someone with all the right answers to be a little more select in your choice of words. I guess I shouldn’t assume.
