the hope of the braves nation rests in your hands mr hanson
June 7th, 20092:30 pm
wow. way to make a play for the kid there escobar… jesus. hanson probably gets better defense in gwinnett. we probably wont score another run for him now. he has made one just one mistake and the score should be 2-1. instead its tied because of yet another blunder by yunel…
jeff. you suck.
“Jeff Francoeur first pitch swinging” … the most often used play by play call in baseball.
Jerry Holcombe you better take it back, Tommy Hanson is not human. You just wait and see. Jerk
j/k of course
It was a tough play, but he has to at least catch that ball and attempt a throw. If he can’t catch that ball, tough as it was, it’s an error, seems to me. I don’t agree with the announcers that it was an error.
frenchy cant hit because hes French!
Braun looks like Teixeira’s ugly little brither.
There you go Frenchy…way to make the other pitcher work on a hot afternoon while you help to quickly put Hanson back out there. What a…I better shutup.
June 7th, 20092:31 pm
So much for that HR by Frenchy getting him on track.
Why is Frenchy is a rush? He leads baseball in 1st pitch strikes and I tend to hear echos in my dreams ..Frenchy first pitch swinging…Frecnhy first pitch swinging
Frenchy can’t hold still, dude’s got major issues
June 7th, 20092:32 pm
I’m still an Escobar fan. He’s not perfect and I’m not going to overreact to each and every miscue. I wish we had more on the team like him.
8 pitches…EIGHT GOD DA** PITCHES?!
Whoa! That was quick.
June 7th, 20092:33 pm
The stat quoted about Frenchy being 0-1 in the count 69% of the time (highest in the league) is really amazing. Seems to indicate that he is well beyond just “struggling”. Dude just can’t hit the damn ball.
June 7th, 20092:34 pm
The sooner Jordan Schafer can get over his issues and replace Francouer, the better. He is an out making machine, and we simply can’t afford to continue this experiment much longer.
The Flailin’ Frenchman is not lookin’ so hot right now. Think Chipper was accurate with his assessment that Frenchy “ran into one.”
this offense is pathetic. they dont take any pitches so the opposing pitchers can go very deep in games and get in a groove…. this team is garbage at the plate. there is no way in hell we can win a division with this offense let alone enough games for a .500 record. sorry hanson….
The hell with Frenchy, I think he’s trying to get shipped outta here. Sooner rather than later FW, sooner rather than later
Here’s a question for the denizens: Which of our position players would be starting on any other Major League team with at least a .500 record? I say Chipper, McCann, McClouth, and Escobar. That’s it. That’s how bad this team really is. Is it any wonder that before this game we hadn’t scored in 23 innings, and that all of our offense in this game would be provided by Chipper?
June 7th, 20092:35 pm
Have I said lately how awful I think Francoeur is? Seriously, put N8 out there…anyone other than Frenchy. 8 pitches that inning…Parra is in danger of losing his rotatoin spot because he is so awful…lucky for him he gets to face the Braves.
This offense is atrocious.
Ain’t it amazing how the Braves are actually making Parra look “not that bad”? The guy has a road era over 9.00 I have bad feeling about this game the way our offense is letting him hang around.
Who was called up to take Kotchman’s place?
I don’t believe it was reported.
I swear we can make any pitcher look like Cy Young. UGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Saw First Game
June 7th, 20092:36 pm
Made the drive to see my first game of the year at the Ted last night and came away with a simple conclusion:
The Braves suck in person as bad they do on TV.
I’m an Escobar fan too, most of his miscues are due to trying to do too much, which is refreshing compared to Jeff, who just sucks without even trying.
Man Failcouer sucks, and blows at the same time, hey stupid look at a damn pitch or two okay what a meathead!!!!
Maybe “refreshing” wasn’t the right word but you get what I mean.
BTW, that home run in the Cubs game marked the end of Frenchy’s career. He’s up there trying to kill the ball again and expecting every pitch to be a fastball down the middle. I’m not sure that he’s good enough for Gwinnett anymore.
Yep here they are
I’m still an Escobar fan. He’s not perfect and I’m not going to overreact to each and every miscue
BEWARE THE SHEETWEARERS! They want to hurt that boy for messin up the 3-inning wonder Hanson’s game. Pay no attention to who threw the homerun pitch…blame the boy who is “dumb”!
June 7th, 20092:37 pm
Boog, I ain spendin 50cents on this pathetic team until Failcouer is gone, let alone 50 bucks!!! surely you jest!!!!
Frank from KS
Hanson took Kotchman’s spot.
June 7th, 20092:39 pm
Braves will be in 4th place by the time june ends……………too hard a schedule for such a weak offense.
I got your point RHR
June 7th, 20092:40 pm
It’s really sad with Frenchy, he just doesn’t have it man. I feel bad for the guy, he is probably a wreck at this point in his career when it looked bright as hell just a few years ago.
Wow, that’s ugly.
that sucks. hanson takes the loss….due to inept braves offense.
June 7th, 20092:41 pm
They should impose fines on Frenchy for swinging at the first pitch. Hejust looks awful when he makes an out on the first pitch. If your in a slump, you need to see more pitches imo.
zone seems to be shrinking…Hanson was getting thos pitches in the first couple of innings…
June 7th, 20092:42 pm
Frenchy plays shallow to catch “would be” singles.. So, he gives up the doubles on a regular basis. Yeah, I know it was the pitcher. But, I’ve seen it happen way too many times.
It’s pretty sad about Frenchy at this point. The guy is probably a wreck after these games the way he is performing and trying to right his own ship. What is most discouraging is how his future seemed so bright a couple years ago only to be brought back down to medocrity at best major league talent.
Parra got lucky and ran into one. didnt even have his eyes open
Just got back about an hour ago just in time to see TH pitch.
Let’s talk Esobar. I realize he is the darling of many here, but I wouldn’t care if the Braves traded him for some other piece. Who would play short? Beats me but I just don’t like Esco. He has loads of ability with a 50 cent head. The 50 CENT HEAD guys just never seem able to cross the hump to stardom. Just watch Escobar made fundamental mistakes time after time.
I watched him at the Ted last night get deked on the fly ball to right where Mclouth lost a hit when Esco was forced at second.
Esco will never be a winner.
He is done send him back to gwinnett
Hanson is for real!
I’m wondering if it’s too early to say Hanson should be one of the top 5 starters and move KK to number 5?
I first thought Frenchy would be a Andre Dawson-type (power, drive in runs, and a power arm like Dawson) but something has DEFINATELY went south somewhere along the line.
June 7th, 20092:43 pm
Dude has great stuff. He’s thrown 2 mistakes, and the Brewers made him pay for them. He’ll be fine.
whoops, didn’t mean to write that twice. But I guess it’s only right to emphasize his situation at this point.
Frank from KS
We’ve got to get to Parra. He’s look just awful this season, and as Joe said, he could be fighting for his job. We CANNOT have Frenchy swinging like a manic, he’s giving the depleted offense no chance.
Semi-Medlen Meltdown for Hanson…gotta have nerves there….it happened to David Price too his first time out…go get em next start, kid..
So let me get this right. Suppan comes to Atlanta with a 5.09 ERA and Parra with a 6.75 ERA and we’ve scored (correct that….Chipper has produced) 2 runs off of them?
Get some damn runs guys! This is ridiculous.
Braves Fan 88
June 7th, 20092:44 pm
Tommy Glavine would have known how to pitch around an error.
June 7th, 20092:45 pm
he is getting sqeezed now!!!!
June 7th, 20092:46 pm
well for about an hour i was excited to be a braves fan again..man that was a good hour.
Can’t blame that on Escobar….whoever decided from them to play behind Kendall should really be blamed….anybody anytime can steal a base….had it been anyone but the pitcher it’s different and it’s okay to play behind the runner.
parra hs been terrible this year and now he looks like johan
June 7th, 20092:47 pm
Now that is how a pitcher helps himself. And in reference to Francoeur, what can be said about his failings that hasn’t been said a million times before?
I like how when you click on The Hanson Era begins story link you go to a story about Georgia school vaccinations.
that’s how you play short ESCO
Saw First Game you must be a Mets or Phillies fan…lol! No Braves fan could have typed that nonsense!
June 7th, 20092:48 pm
Tough luck for Hanson.. More errors that lead to runs for opposing teams.. Hanson has made one mistake and it could cost him a win in his debut.. Other then that HR by Braun, Hanson has looked great.. Looks like Hanson could get the same shaft here as he got in AAA, no run support.. If this kid gets 5-6 runs a game, he will win every time out..
Stranding Chipper at 3rd (after the triple) with less than two outs, is gonna come back and haunt later today. That and sloppy defense.
But Hanson has to focus on all hitters, including the pitcher. But he’ll learn.
But we should have 3 runs right now, and they should have 2, if we knew how to play solid fundamental baseball. But we don’t.
Which is why we’re a .500 team. On the good days.
Rob (from SC)
Hanson looks great. We should all thank Mike Cameron or we would only have 1 run.
JEB, kotchman’s place on the roster was taken by hanson.
Aaron, i’d imagine he’ll be treated like all the other starters up here as far as number of pitches goes. he’s had 11 starts in Gwinnett to get his arm in shape.
June 7th, 20092:49 pm
Do these guys not understand what a good at bat is anymore? what the hell is going on here? They’re not having good at-bats at all
Th Pitcher for the Brewer looks like an ACE.lol
Baseball is all about confidence…heck, life is. So, this Parra guy has all the confidence in the world facing this struggling offense.
Wasn’t there some people on here who thought the Braves had a good offense before the season? I’m almost sure of it.
Parra looks like he can’t believe he hasn’t given up 7 runs yet
June 7th, 20092:50 pm
No Schafer again for Gwinnett. Does anybody know why?
McLouth had one hit in the series coming into today. he would have had another if escobar hadn’t gotten deeked and thrown out at second for the fielder’s choice
I think most of what has been said before has been bashing the dude on his lack of ability and talent. I am almost feeling sorry for a guy who really either lost alot or never really had it to begin with. Little different angle from most of the bloggers ripping his lack of production apart. The dude knows he is performing horribly, trying to fix it on the fly, and recapture his career before it plummets even further. I feel for the man, who seems like an overall good guy.
June 7th, 20092:51 pm
Welcome to ATL..were getting outdueled by a guy with a 2-5 record and a 9 plus era on the road is the LAW..
In no way should parra be having a better day than hanson
June 7th, 20092:52 pm
He must rethink that he’s not facing a team like the Dodgers or the Mutts.
C’mon Chipper, a single or a double.
Is Schafer hurt at Gwinnett.
they will walk chiper
Steve from OH
Looks like a big crowd today…
June 7th, 20092:53 pm
they will walk jones
Braves have to come back here and win this game! Go Chipper!
watch them walk Chipper
Big spot here for Chipper, keep the hits coming Chip!
Parra was once considered to be a pretty good prospect. He has the stuff.
Come on Chipper!!!
The contest on the radio talking about giving away money for “every” Braves HR this inning, kills me.
That’s like the Braves putting a clause in Kotchman’s contract saying if he wins the Cy Young, he gets a 10 million dollar bonus.
June 7th, 20092:54 pm
Carroll’s got the reins on the blog today.
How did that go out
HAVE A DAY, CHIPPER!
Chipper Jones is my hero.
NO WAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OMG CHIPPER
Nate from NCState
100% chance I’d walk Chipper if I am the Brew Crew.
June 7th, 20092:55 pm
CHPPAH!!!!!! Carrying the young ‘un.
Chipper might be a WUSS, but the man can hit a baseball
wow half swing homerun lol
