wow. way to make a play for the kid there escobar… jesus. hanson probably gets better defense in gwinnett. we probably wont score another run for him now. he has made one just one mistake and the score should be 2-1. instead its tied because of yet another blunder by yunel…
It was a tough play, but he has to at least catch that ball and attempt a throw. If he can’t catch that ball, tough as it was, it’s an error, seems to me. I don’t agree with the announcers that it was an error.
There you go Frenchy…way to make the other pitcher work on a hot afternoon while you help to quickly put Hanson back out there. What a…I better shutup.
Why is Frenchy is a rush? He leads baseball in 1st pitch strikes and I tend to hear echos in my dreams ..Frenchy first pitch swinging…Frecnhy first pitch swinging
The stat quoted about Frenchy being 0-1 in the count 69% of the time (highest in the league) is really amazing. Seems to indicate that he is well beyond just “struggling”. Dude just can’t hit the damn ball.
The sooner Jordan Schafer can get over his issues and replace Francouer, the better. He is an out making machine, and we simply can’t afford to continue this experiment much longer.

this offense is pathetic. they dont take any pitches so the opposing pitchers can go very deep in games and get in a groove…. this team is garbage at the plate. there is no way in hell we can win a division with this offense let alone enough games for a .500 record. sorry hanson….
Here’s a question for the denizens: Which of our position players would be starting on any other Major League team with at least a .500 record? I say Chipper, McCann, McClouth, and Escobar. That’s it. That’s how bad this team really is. Is it any wonder that before this game we hadn’t scored in 23 innings, and that all of our offense in this game would be provided by Chipper?
Have I said lately how awful I think Francoeur is? Seriously, put N8 out there…anyone other than Frenchy. 8 pitches that inning…Parra is in danger of losing his rotatoin spot because he is so awful…lucky for him he gets to face the Braves.
Ain’t it amazing how the Braves are actually making Parra look “not that bad”? The guy has a road era over 9.00 I have bad feeling about this game the way our offense is letting him hang around.
I’m an Escobar fan too, most of his miscues are due to trying to do too much, which is refreshing compared to Jeff, who just sucks without even trying.
BTW, that home run in the Cubs game marked the end of Frenchy’s career. He’s up there trying to kill the ball again and expecting every pitch to be a fastball down the middle. I’m not sure that he’s good enough for Gwinnett anymore.
I’m still an Escobar fan. He’s not perfect and I’m not going to overreact to each and every miscue
BEWARE THE SHEETWEARERS! They want to hurt that boy for messin up the 3-inning wonder Hanson’s game. Pay no attention to who threw the homerun pitch…blame the boy who is “dumb”!
It’s really sad with Frenchy, he just doesn’t have it man. I feel bad for the guy, he is probably a wreck at this point in his career when it looked bright as hell just a few years ago.
They should impose fines on Frenchy for swinging at the first pitch. Hejust looks awful when he makes an out on the first pitch. If your in a slump, you need to see more pitches imo.
Frenchy plays shallow to catch “would be” singles.. So, he gives up the doubles on a regular basis. Yeah, I know it was the pitcher. But, I’ve seen it happen way too many times.
It’s pretty sad about Frenchy at this point. The guy is probably a wreck after these games the way he is performing and trying to right his own ship. What is most discouraging is how his future seemed so bright a couple years ago only to be brought back down to medocrity at best major league talent.
Just got back about an hour ago just in time to see TH pitch.
Let’s talk Esobar. I realize he is the darling of many here, but I wouldn’t care if the Braves traded him for some other piece. Who would play short? Beats me but I just don’t like Esco. He has loads of ability with a 50 cent head. The 50 CENT HEAD guys just never seem able to cross the hump to stardom. Just watch Escobar made fundamental mistakes time after time.
I watched him at the Ted last night get deked on the fly ball to right where Mclouth lost a hit when Esco was forced at second.
I first thought Frenchy would be a Andre Dawson-type (power, drive in runs, and a power arm like Dawson) but something has DEFINATELY went south somewhere along the line.
We’ve got to get to Parra. He’s look just awful this season, and as Joe said, he could be fighting for his job. We CANNOT have Frenchy swinging like a manic, he’s giving the depleted offense no chance.
So let me get this right. Suppan comes to Atlanta with a 5.09 ERA and Parra with a 6.75 ERA and we’ve scored (correct that….Chipper has produced) 2 runs off of them?
Can’t blame that on Escobar….whoever decided from them to play behind Kendall should really be blamed….anybody anytime can steal a base….had it been anyone but the pitcher it’s different and it’s okay to play behind the runner.
Now that is how a pitcher helps himself. And in reference to Francoeur, what can be said about his failings that hasn’t been said a million times before?
Tough luck for Hanson.. More errors that lead to runs for opposing teams.. Hanson has made one mistake and it could cost him a win in his debut.. Other then that HR by Braun, Hanson has looked great.. Looks like Hanson could get the same shaft here as he got in AAA, no run support.. If this kid gets 5-6 runs a game, he will win every time out..
JEB, kotchman’s place on the roster was taken by hanson.
Aaron, i’d imagine he’ll be treated like all the other starters up here as far as number of pitches goes. he’s had 11 starts in Gwinnett to get his arm in shape.
McLouth had one hit in the series coming into today. he would have had another if escobar hadn’t gotten deeked and thrown out at second for the fielder’s choice
I think most of what has been said before has been bashing the dude on his lack of ability and talent. I am almost feeling sorry for a guy who really either lost alot or never really had it to begin with. Little different angle from most of the bloggers ripping his lack of production apart. The dude knows he is performing horribly, trying to fix it on the fly, and recapture his career before it plummets even further. I feel for the man, who seems like an overall good guy.

Stranding Chipper at 3rd (after the triple) with less than two outs, is gonna come back and haunt later today. That and sloppy defense.
But Hanson has to focus on all hitters, including the pitcher. But he’ll learn.
But we should have 3 runs right now, and they should have 2, if we knew how to play solid fundamental baseball. But we don’t.
Which is why we’re a .500 team. On the good days.
