Glavine is piching in the fan batting cage under the center field seats!

It’s only been 2 innings, but this kid BELONGS. Not cutting Tom Glavine would have been like not trading Dale Murphy back in 1990. Just like David Justice needed a position to play, Tommy Hanson needed a spot in the rotation.

Meanwhile, this kids not only throws hard, but he hits the corners. Plus when these Brewers players foul the pitch, it’s to the opposite field. I havent see one Brewer pull the ball foul.

Wonder how Chip Caray feels about having to be on the TBS game between the Rangers/R. Sox and having to miss Hanson’s debut.

3 innings pitched. 4 strikeouts, 0 walks, 0 hits, 31 pitches with 24 of them strikes. Now, when was the last time that Tom Glavine had 3 innings like that? If Tom Glavine was pitching today, he would have thrown a lot more than 31 pitches. And have a lot more than 7 balls versus 24 strikes thrown.

Let’s see what kind of adjustments the Brewers hitters make during his second time around the batting order. In turn, I want to see how Hanson deals with those adjustments.

Totally agree with you. I’m sure most do. I suppose it still could have been handled better. But that’s really not my problem.

Hanson will fail on occasion. NOBODY is that good all the time. He’ll have to adjust, and he’ll have to pitch with pain, and when he’s not feeling well, etc…

But you’re right. It was time. It is time. My guess is that they would have just done it out of ST, but the Super 2 status obviously came into play.

That’s not to downplay what those 11 starts at AAA did for him as well.

IMO, as much as I wanted him up sooner, Wren and Co. handled it PERFECTLY. As for how Glavine was treated? I’ve moved on.

But it’s clear calling up Hanson was the right call.

Willie Mays Hayes: Are you telling me that Yunel’s single was a clean hit and not a Texas leaguer? And are you telling me that Chipper’s triple was legit? If so my friend, your vision is obscured. Cameron should have either laid out for that or played it on a hop for a single. Either way, you expect better from a centerfielder that has his reputation.

We officially now have the pitching staff to win three World Series.

If only we had the Washington Nationals line-up. We could probably win with the Washington Redskins at the plate.

Now that’s just silly.

Frank “Wren at all costs” and the rest of the front office should have had him up from the beginning. Especially if he meant “Every game counts now” like he said when he released Glavine. Then again, looks like Chipper is going to be a one man offensive wrecking crew. I was going to pick Chipper for my fantasy team today, however because he came out early last night, and because it is a day game after a night game, I didnt figure on Bobby putting him out there. It sucks having to pick your team by midnight the day of the game.

A day like today, when the Braves hitters are struggling, Chipper Jones is carrying the team today. If Franceour was the real deal, he would have games like today more often. However, he simply isnt capable of carrying the Braves, nor is he even a decent Major League hitter.

I’m still baffled that he is batting 5th today.

Also, for those who’ve been scouting Hanson, when he does allow runs, is there a pattern? Does he allow them early, before getting on track, or late, when he starts to tire and they’ve seen his stuff? I know he hasn’t allowed much to begin with, but was wondering.

Bravetiger

You know the one thing that should make Hanson and Medlen even more comfortable is the fact that when they got called up from AAA, they could still live in the place they’ve been staying at all year since AAA is in Gwinnett as opposed to the past when they’d have to travel from Richmond and stay in a hotel.

The last time the Braves lost an icon (during the season) was Dale Murphey.
David Justice came in to fill those shoes nicely and won the R.O.Y.

Now we have Hanson who has come in to fill an icons place (Tom Glavine)
Perhaps he will make as big a contribution!
Can he get the R.O.Y. ???
