So who is left on the Bench now? Diroy Hernandez is it, right? Braves really needed to drop someone out of the bullpen to make up for the loss of Kotchman. Our pitchers pretty much have to hit now.
Never said opinions are right or wrong. Coming on here calling people’s ability to do their job when they are considered one of the greatest ever to hold that position seems a little idiotic. Cox has actually handled the bullpen well. He utilizes Gonzo and Soriano to share closing duties. This has led to many Brave wins, and one situation when Soriano came on to save Gonzo’s mess. Worked out pretty well.
Again, his handling of the lineup is something he has done a lot over the past few years. He is trying to find a mix that works, but when the hitting has been lacking altogether, the lineup seems to be a moot point, right? If Chipper and Mac are the only ones stroking, what is he to do? More people have a say with the Frenchy situation than you think, I am sure.
Again, Frenchy situation seems to be what it is. He is giving him a chance to hit out of it, and it will not be given very soon IMO. I also think his trade value would be tarnished completely with a benching or demotion. Cox’s hands seem to be tied with this situation and I think there is more to it than we know.
Cox’s in-game strategy is something that can be questioned for sure. Every manager can be questioned on in-game decisions. As a fan, and you seem to be quite the educated one, it’s easy to sit here and second guess decisions after the fact. As they say, hindsight is 20/20. Does Cox make poor decisions in game? Absolutely. Does his work over the course of 162 game schedule enhance this organization? Again, it is my opinion that he does enhance this team.
My credentials are merely being a fan for many years. But I do not come on here and rant and rave about calling for peoples’s jobs or knowing all the answers to this team’s problems. I leave that up to the professionals. Doesn’t mean I agree with all that they do, but we have to be understanding that they are most likely playing percentages or past experiences that have been successful. But that seems to be too deep for some on here to even comprehend.
Well, even though I picked McCann for my fantasy baseball team today, he still gives me 3 points with that at bat, plus he may come up again, lol. I didnt expect Chipper to play today so I didnt pick him for my fantasy team. I picked McCann because I didnt think that Bobby would rest McCann with Chipper not in the line-up. However, it was my misfortune to get it totally wrong. I picked Zimmerman instead to play 3rd on my fantasy team today (1-3 single, walk….which equals only 2 points).
WOW, way to go Nate McLouth!!!!!!!!! Big hit for the Bravos.
There’s your RBI for McLouth. And Tommy is “off the hook”. No loss in his debut.
Now. With McCann and G. Anderson BOTH used up off the bench, I’ve got to seriously consider walking BOTH Escobar and Chipper to load the bases to get to Diaz and Francoeur.
Outside the box? Yup. But why pitch to these two guys?
ohhhh but the second time he pulls it offfffff wow who waas expecting this now if we blow it then gonzo should be released id go with soriono personally
There it is Bravo2249, that is all I wanted to know. McLouth’s first rbi in his 3rd game, 4th AB. And about the “lay off the alcohol” comment, I wasn’t drinking. But, if I were, would anyone here blame me with the way this team has played? I think not,
How did Bobby handle the bullpen to keep the game at 7-5 and within striking distance? Did he do well? How about utilizing McCann off the bench, or the lineup he varied up for today? Suffice for your liking? Oh how much changes and people run away so quickly on here.
Let’s hope we stay hot when the Pirates come to town….It’s nice that our potential 1-4 hitters all got hits today and Chipper has 5 rbi, in a game some thought he wouldn’t play in.
