Walks Hurt…! Bennett Get Tough!
June 3rd, 200910:10 pm
Bobby obviously hasn’t seen Bennett pitch this year in extra innings.
Cyndi Lauper's Aura
How about another smoove DP?
We are fixing to give it up!!!!!!!!! Jeff Bennett is fixing to screw us
What I wonder is what is going to happen when Hudson gets off the DL. It still seems like we have 1 too many strong starters, and one too few strong hitters…
DOB, most bloggers approve by far.
Most now. If you look back in July 2007, most here liked the Teixeira trade too. Now everyone acts like they knew all-along it was bad. Same will happen here if McLouth is bad and Morton, Hernandez and/or Locke will their full potential.
C’mon Jeff……Buckle down baby!
June 3rd, 200910:11 pm
Have these freaks laid down a single bunt?
Notice how Lee tags on a fly to left?
Good Play Matty-D…
Speed Always Kills Us! Fck…!
Lee was out at 2nd if Barton was.
June 3rd, 200910:12 pm
Good Point About the Tex Trade!
cot’s baseball contracts has Nate at 2m in 2009 4.5m in 2010 and 6.5m in 2011 with a 10.5m team option for 2012 – is that incorrect?
June 3rd, 200910:13 pm
T R O U B L E ! ! !
You can’t compare this to the Tex trade, because look at the big difference: We have McClouth for atleast 3-4 more years
Why does Bennett always feel the need to walk guys in late innings?
Bennett has two losses this season, both in extra innings.
Frank Wren has done moves that have the present and future in mind. And he has done so in an exceptional manner. It’s about time he is given some credit for what he’s done in his short tenure thus far.
June 3rd, 200910:14 pm
Throw strikes dammit!
June 3rd, 200910:15 pm
Mixxo, totally agree on the hands thing. Too many young kids want to by the rig that “so and so” has, and then wonder why they don’t sound like them.
If I played on Eddie Van Halen’s rig it wouldn’t sound like Eddie. But if he played on mine, it would. Period. Hell, if you put Eddie on a bass, running through a keyboard amp with an Ibanez Tube Screamer…. it would sound like Eddie.
Thanks guys on the pleasant comments about my big post.
I think my favorite thing about this trade is that it gives us a really good “shot” this year. But sets EVERYTHING up to begin a new run next year. Along with giving Wren some serious trade bait this winter. Especially if Hudson comes back strong and the option is exercised.
Definitely an exciting time to be a Braves fan, regardless of the results of what is left in this season.
Best hitting catcher in the NL is locked up for a while (maybe the best hitting catcher in all of baseball – Mauer gets to DH, keeping his legs fresh and his bat in the lineup for the Twins). We’ve got one of the leagues most exciting young pitchers in JJJ under our control for a while. With the games MOST exciting prospect now up for good (barring a major choke job by the kid). We’ve got a star on the rise in Yunel Escobar. Also under our control for a while. Our CF of the future got a taste and should be better because of it. We just acquired a guy that plays the game right. Is a two time all-star, and has a GG (and eventually might move to a corner OF spot). Add to that, Heyard and Freeman are on their way.
Like I said. Exciting time to be looking ahead as a Braves fan.
Oh yeah… We get to watch the greatest swith hitter, and future HOF 3B, Chipper Jones play (when not injured), for the next 3 years.
Get Bennett Out NOW!!! WTF Booby…?
Dangit. Can’t fault Bennett there.
Man Chipper’s Range Sucks Because he was playin in for the bunt
Too many pitches for Bennett. Take him out now or its over.
Bennett has a 1.80 WHIP WTF
Eric from MO
So why couldnt Soriano be used on back to back nights?
June 3rd, 200910:16 pm
Bennett out. Thank God!
Diory makes that play. Not sure what Bobby is thinking leaving Chipper in. Better make up for it with his bat.
Thanks Bobby. Hey, this blog suggestion box thing is working out pretty good for us so far this season, huh? lol
Huh, so Bennett sucks. Good call bloggers.
Spoke a little soon, huh?
Take the a hole out! Fing guy! That guy is a brave’s terrorist!
Maybe if he’d get that sh!t out of his mouth he could see over his cheek.
if we still had tex i think the majority of braves fans would approve of that trade. the problem is he is not with us anymore and was only here for a year. thats what hurts. mclouth will be here for four years unless we trade him. so, there will be a lot more time for mclouth to prove his worth.
as far as tonights game goes, i honestly believed that after last nights game we would win this game by 10. i was very very wrong. i just thought we would be jacked to get out here and go on a tear. losing this game would kill all momentum from the game last night. its not too late…. but now with runners on the corners and less than two outs it doesnt look good. it would be a true shame to lose this game. mclouth or no mclouth we need to find a way to win this game and take this series. the cubbies are tired of losing too so if they win this one they could easily win tomorrow’s game.
cmon braves! its time for us to make our move!
June 3rd, 200910:17 pm
Well, its about time, Cox! (But, is it a little too late?)
Btw, yet another diving miss by Gimper.
Mark, yeah, cuz that last ball was just blistered….
I winced when that ball got into the outfield…thought for a second there’d be a play at the plate.
Piedmont Blues (ex-BFIR)
As Don Sutton says, Bennett’s a problem solver. And sometime he has to create a problem so he can solve it.
got to get my mojo working
June 3rd, 200910:18 pm
That Dog Rules!!!!
Bennett is a Braves terrorist, lol.
Come on O! Get em out.
Eric from MO,
soriano cant go back to back nights because he needs at least every other night off to count his millions. its tough being rich….
Enough of JJ on PTV fer chrissakes. I’m begging you!
The picture in the ESPN article makes McLouth look like Kenny Banya.
June 3rd, 200910:19 pm
Lordy. I smell a hurry-up bobble from KJ coming. Hope not.
Mfin even if Diory comes up with that dive(which he wouldnt) he still wouldnt of got anyone out and it would be runners at the corners.
1.80 WHIP. Bennett allowing nearly two baserunners an inning. That is terrible.
WE need a DP NOW! Come On Baby!
Blah. Blah. BLAH.
banger, you had it right except for $10.65mill option, not $10.5
June 3rd, 200910:20 pm
Crap, who is leading off for the braves at the start of the inning?
Ugh. Good job of hitting. This once, seriously, gotta tip your hat.
Umpires F’d Us Over this game other than the Awfense…
BENNETT SUCKS!!!! This is where firing Bobby would save us 10-15 games a year.
Well looks like last night will just be a blip on the radar.
No Mark I didnt speak too soon. He shouldnt of pitched the 2nd inning.
Well, I’ve seen enough. See ya tomorrow night.
Betcha they’ll score a couple more in this inning too.
Can we effing release bennett already $hit a 1.80 whip that is freaking horrible.
and a bloop hit. Between luck and unpiring, the braves just weren’t ment to win this game.
June 3rd, 200910:21 pm
Now The Lets Go Cubbies Chants Reigh…
I think I hate bandwagon Cubs fans just as much as Yankees fans
Eric Come On!!!
I have not posted today. Busy all day long. All I have to said right now is …………WHAT A GREAT ADD TO THIS TEAM MCLOUTH IS……….. Im very excited by this move………leadoff hitter trouble is over for good. Wow. This guy just brought with him so much stability to this lineup………..2 great hitter in front of chipper and 1 exceptional one behind him. Couldnt ask for more.
Releasing TG always is a sad news for a great warrior, but is for the better of the team. 2 great young arms join the team.
I wont be looking back on this trade if it explodes on our face 2 years from now, it was a good move at this moment, Im 100% pleased with it. We just got stronger. Weaker in the minors but we have enough rookies and young players, McLouth is a right move.
How good was this guy Hernandez? I know they say he is good, but not sure how good……….could anyone tell me more about it?
Ouch. Bad call on Barton at 2b seems to be looming big about now.
June 3rd, 200910:22 pm
Mark, your 10:10 raises a good point. Like that trade, this trade might not be able to be “judged” until all the prospects careers have unfolded a bit.
But the big difference between the two trades? For starters, the Braves didn’t need Tex. They needed pitching. BADLY. But JS was unable to land a top notch pitcher, despite being willing to move top prospects. Tex was the “best” he could do, and he gambled that stacking the lineup would pay off, like adding a pitcher. It didn’t.
Secondly, NOT A SOUL ever realistically thought that Tex was going to sign long term with the Braves. There was ZERO chance of a “hometown” discount. As there was ZERO chance of the Braves making the highest offer to assure that the Boras client would stay. We gave up five prospects for two rentals.
This trade is about trading one REALLY good prospect (Gorkys – who we got for “free” in the Renteria/JJJ trade), one decent pitching prospect who could be the next John Smoltz or the next Jason Marquis, or the next Kyle Davies (Morton) , and Locke who (like Feliz), might end up being the hidden gem in the deal, for Nate McClouth who is under our control (and not arbitration elligible) for the next 4 years.
WAY different. This trade is way “safer” than the Tex trade was.
Mfin EOF gave up a hit too. You cant use Soriano every game. Gonzo and Moylan already pitched. When you only have 3 good relievers not much you can do in extras other than hold your breath. Should help with Medlen though.
DOB, does the fact that Glavine never pitched in MLB this year mean that he’ll be eligible for the Hall of Fame the same year as Maddux?
lol, way to be alert, Barton.
Eric from MO: “Savannah and everyone else who is complaining how Glavine was handled, dont blame the Braves, blame Hanson. He forced their hand. You couldnt keep him down any longer. He was too dominant.”
You boiled it down very quickly and efficiently. Its either Hanson or Glavine, and Wren and others (based on 2 months watching Hanson at AAA and Glavine rehab) made the obvious choice. Case closed.
June 3rd, 200910:23 pm
lol @ that Sosa quote…wtf
Wow, great D, come on boys, 2 runs, lets win it.
he’s hitting .00000001 with a runner on 3rd so……uh oh
Kevin Gregg!!!! There’s hope yet folks!!!
Wow. Sosa, tell me you really didn’t say that…
Nice pick Esco ……now lets score a couple!
Good Stab ESCO…
Offense Come, He Me Baby One More Time!!!
Damn I’m going Insane Singing Brittney Spears!!!
June 3rd, 200910:24 pm
Can we seriously get rid of Jeff Bennett now? He blows.
Are you people seriously arguing over me? Of course I suck. But I got some secret pictures of Bobby Cox that ensures my spot.
Sosa quote – How come I’m not surprised? What a jerk!
Time to see what these braves are made of…
EOF gave up a bloop. Bennett just constantly sucks. He shouldn’t even be on the team. Have plenty of relievers in the minors that could pitch better than Bennett.
June 3rd, 200910:25 pm
RC, Glav didn’t retire. He was released. I’m guessing with as much need for pitching as there is out there and the fact that he said he didn’t want to retire means that he’ll play somewhere this season. So no, no hall same year as Maddux.
June 3rd, 200910:26 pm
Doc Holliday, Hernandez probably has the potential to be the same player as McClouth a few years down the road, Very good speed, above average bat, fine defensively. But its just potential, so for now it looks like a great trade.
some of you people seem to think that every Braves pitcher should have an ERA of 0.00 and never give up a run……. damn
Come On Matty-D…Go To Right Field!
Way to stay Alive
well, it’s time to see if Gregg can pull another choke out of his hat.
June 3rd, 200910:27 pm
ESPN has been talking about the Braves for the past 5 min and just said they are loaded. Are you happy with your love bloggers?
Nice pick D. Lee. Wow.
Come on B-Mac!
Cubs Defense Is KILLING US!!!
June 3rd, 200910:28 pm
Braves have to get rid of Bennett after this game!
They will Pitch Around B-Macc
Sweet Lou is Not Gonna Let Macc-Daddy beat them!
Pete & Eric from MO, you guys pretty much nailed what Wren said on the radio broadcast earlier.
He flat out said that when they analyzed it, they felt THE TEAM was better off with Hanson making those starts in the 5th starter’s spot, than Glavine.
Ironically, what many have been arguing about for weeks, since Glavine started his throwing sessions and rehab starts. Now all of the people that ragged on those who said Hanson was ready, can rag on the GM for agreeing with them. LOL!
June 3rd, 200910:29 pm
