situational hitting is extremely valuable in certain situations. thus the name.

but, yeah. you cant have a guy who only gets the job done in certain, rare situations. but id i could pick any hitter have to get the run in third base and no out, its anderson or kotchman, because they almost always put the ball in play.

If a team is having trouble scoring runs, wouldn’t it help them to get more people on base? Our problems aren’t situational hitting, they are the .313 OBP from the CF slot, the .275(!) OBP from our right fielder, and the .290 OBP from our left-handed half of our left field platoon. And the serious lack of power from all three slots. NOT situational hitting. Try to keep up, cat…

Notice how the fantasy baseball geek gives you the stats from the outfield and then tells you they are representative of the entire team in order to prove you wrong! No Chipper included, no McCann, no Escobar, lots of players missing. Doesn’ty that strike you as odd?

Why didn’t he give you the entire team’s OBS%? or better yet, why not BA, OBS, OPS with RISP, or RISP w/2 out, those numbers when it’s Late and Close.

Don’t be fooled by the self-important who cherry pick numbers and then tell you they have objective evidence to prove their point. Always ask them for the stuff they didn’t decide to include. They did so for a reason and it wasn’t because they forgot! The Braves have problems with their situational hitting and executing fundamentals like getting down a bunt, getting runners over. No need for numbers, you’ve seen it enough to know.

LoL, but could Schafer have hit 162 homers?

I get the fact that he was 0 for 5, but he did more than Schafer has been doing in those situations. That really is what matters.

Tivo time for Directv. Two great series, Deadwood and Oz will be broadcast on Directv channel 101 – Deadwood starts today at 11pm and Oz starts Friday 11pm.

Deadwood especially is great. Loosely based on Deadwood, SD during the gold rush.

Guess he COULD have been 5 for 5 if he hadn’t struck out twice and if the other team didn’t have those pesky fielders out there. Francoeur COULD have been hitting .300 so far this season if he hadn’t made all those outs.
