Dogs-You don’t disagree all that much-at least not that you post about. And neither of us like the Mets-that makes up for much disagreement in other areas..
RichBrave-I would hope that’s all the interest the Braves have in him, but there have been a few here on the ole blog thinking DeRosa’s going to give us a power threat in the outfield and will hit 15-20 HR. It just won’t happen and they’re asking WAY too much for a non-major impact player.
Love to have DeRo on the bench, but would much rather take his asking price and boost it a bit and get a true power hitter who we have signed for a couple of years-IF such a paragon exists..
My conversation was to getnathan, not you, I was addressing his assummption that 90 wins could win the division and I suppose it could but it isn’t likely at this point. I never implied “hang up the cleats” or the season is over, don’t no where you’re coming from. I did state the truth, that the Phils are on pace to win about 95 games. Ouch! That one hurts doesn’t it? The Mets do have a better pitching staff than we do(not by much) and they do score a few more runs than we do. All true. Them are the facts. Sorry! That doesn’t say anything negative against the Braves accept they will have to play a heck of a lot better, do you not agree? Do you also not agree with the Phils able to hit the way they do the only thing keeping them from running away with the division is their pitching? Well? Speak up!
We’re 4-2 vs Phillies and 3-4 vs Mets (that will turn around). As long as we join the fray and pick up wins against them, we will be around 4 or 5 games out. If Phils win 95 games, then Braves would finish below .500. I don’t see that happening. If Braves can get what we need (a power bat in the middle of the lineup, or get hot with what we got) then that brings Phillies and Mets closer to us. BRAVES would be the team that can win 90 and possibly the division.
How does 8 HRs not help our power? Our whole OF combined does not have 8 HRs. Is the guy going to hit 40 HRs, no. But, he can easily hit 20 -25 HRs.
So he can easily hit 20-25 huh? He’s only hit more than 20 ONE time in his career, and that was while playing his home games at Wrigley Field.
And my point wasn’t that Derosa couldn’t help the team, it was that I wouldn’t give up Medlen for him. Reyes, fine… Morton, ok , but not a guy with as much upside as Medlen who is showing now that he can pitch at the Major League level.
how come when i click on the new blog i am re directed to here? its like im stuck in the past….being forced to relive the crappy west coast road trip all over again. what do i do? i want to go back to the time where hanson was just called up and we acquired mclouth!!!! this sucks! ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!
Smoltz is acting like a scorned women. Here are the facts, Glavine left Atlanta to go to New York because it was in his best interest. Now, the Braves are releasing him, because it is in their best interest. It sounds like a wash to me. They both should have retired with Maddux. I appreciate all they did but baseball is not a game for old men. See you in Cooperstown Gentlemen.
Why are people ripping Smoltz? He left because the difference of a couple of million dollar is enough of a difference. The Braves cut Glavine for a similar amount of money. Clearly, the ways that the Braves cut ties with the two legends are disappointing. I am certain, however, that they will both reconcile with the Braves front office once their careers are eventually over.
Hey, ya’ll, I am posting from a future DOB Blog, just to let you know, the Bravos don’t make the playoffs this year, then they do next year, Bobby’s last year, but lose to the giants(WChamps), then we collapse in september of ‘11, make no moves, except new hitting coaches for ‘12, oh yeah we did sign uggla for 5 yrs. $60 million, has been hitting worst since. ‘12, went to 1 gm elimination(WC)lost to the Cardinals who were WChamps in”11,now “G”’s about to win it all in ‘12. so, just thought to let ya’ll know whats ahead, now BACK TO THE FUTURE, selah!
