Maybe the Braves ought to trade for Byrnes — just to keep him from killing them.
I’d have walked the sacks full, to get the force at home on a grounder, and then pitched to a pinch-hitter, especially with the way Byrnes hits against the Braves.

What does it mean if you’re a 500 team and you regularly beat good teams but lose to bad ones?
Are we not worse than the D-Backs if we’re 2 and 3 against them even if they’re like ten games under 500 or whatever they are?
What does that mean? I’m just trying to figure out what that really means. Are we bad or are we good?

Tough loss. I’m not sure what to say about Frenchy anymore. I really think the powers that be should consider bringing up Brandon Jones. He is nothing special. Probably a career fourth outfielder. But Jeff just isn’t getting it done. He isn’t the sole reason for this loss though. Clearly, 2 runs scored isn’t enough.

What’s the Braves record in 1-run games the past few years? How does that not reflect managing? I mean if anything should reflect managing it is 1-run games.
You don’t put Bennett in. And it isn’t that Jeff Bennett was the best option available. It was that Bobby didn’t think ahead in a 2-2 game. You throw Soriano 2 innings, Gonzo 2 innings. And the way EOF is pitching you might throw him more than 3 pitches. You have to think ahead in a game that you know is going to extra innings.

SoWeGa Fanatic – no I don’t necessarily like the move of bringing Moylan in. He hasn’t been pitching great….but you have to have the double play in order…or even the bases loaded to allow for force outs.
The other part of the equation is we still should have had Gonzo pitching that inning, not Bennett.

Cox is an idiot and naturally he mishandled the extra innings BUT …
this game was lost WHEN he failed to yank Vaz while he still had the lead. IF he does that, Braves just might have won this in regulation rather than losing in extra & using up your closer over 2 innings thus making it unlikely to have him tomorrow.
Much like his team, this manager has a will to lose and lose he will

Ease up on Bennet, Reynolds hit a pretty good pitch almost out of the dirt on the outside corner. Frenchy struck out 3 times, don’t ease up on him, trade him now. No need to worry about the future when you have guys like Jayson Heyward, Cody Johnson, and Gorkys Hernandez.
Trade Frenchy, and Morton or Reyes for a decent hitter who can play RF. Why not Matt Holliday, because they traded for Mark Texeira a few years back and couldn’t resign him, and now the Rangers have Elvis Andrus and Salty. This division can be won by anyone, and all this teams needs is a right handed power hitting outfielder.
How about trading Kawakami. The guy is a good SP, but the Braves have some pretty good starters coming up, and some other proven stars getting healthy.
Matt Holliday is the biggest star rumored to be traded so far, and if you ask me I’d say the Athletics need some pitchers. They appear not to be in contention 10 games out already. Kawakami is under contract for the next three seasons, and it’d give them a veteran starter. And offcourse it wouldn’t be just Kawakami, but some young players like Jeff Franceour, and Jojo Reyes or Charlie Morton.

Doesn’t Cox and Wren realize that he is hurting the team? I say send Schafer down too. Bring up Blanco and Brandon Jones. Send Francoeur and Schafer to Gwinnett. Cut Garrett Anderson. Outfield should be Diaz, Blanco, Jones and Barton. I bet they are just as good as the others.
