Wow — that was about as close as you can get to hitting one out. I thought that ball was gone, would’ve been a nice way for Anderson to finally get his first homer. Alas, Gonzo will need to shut ‘em down again in the bottom of the 10th.
With Gonzalez and Soriano being free agents after this season, do you think Frank Wren will try to extend one of them during the season. My vote is for Soriano
Whatever did happen to Wily Mo? He’s still only 26 years old. Wily Mo is another guy kinda like Gabe Kapler that shows it’s not so crazy that the Bosox would be interested in Frenchy. They love their disciplined guys, but like their low risk, raw, flawed, undisciplined guys as well sometimes.
I think the Braves will try to sign Soriano. I don’t know if it will be during the season though. Knowing the Braves, I wouldn’t be surprised if they both leave after the season is over. The Braves don’t normally spend big money on the bullpen and if Soriano continues to have a good season he will command big bucks.
The Red Sox went against their M.O. with Wily Mo and then gave him the heave-ho.
Don’t see them breaking their philosophy to do the same with the Frency.
Gonzo only threw nine pitches that inning … but still at 30 for two innings. I don’t think Bobby would try to have him start a third inning, with the up-and-down and all between innings. But you never know.
I love me some me. And Gonzo. It’s purely platonic but what can I say.
I know he’s blown some saves but he’s also had to watch Diaz drop a fly ball (or not even come close to catching it) and have a runner thrown out but called safe. It’s not been entirely his fault.
He’s an all star in my book although I hope he doesn’t make the team. Gotta keep the big arms safe.
My apologies to Mr. Roberts from earlier. I believe it is Mr. Lopez who has gotten inked up very often.
And has anybody seen Andruw’s arms lately? Lotta new work there, too.
There are about 398 other players in mlb I’d rather have at the plate right now. But I like my crow with ketchup if Jeff wants to serve it up to me here.
Whatever did happen to Wily Mo? Certainly worth looking into I would think Braveheart. (KIRKINGA)
KIRKINGA, i never said certainly worth looking into, just wondered where he was. Why did you attribute something to me that I didn’t say when everyone else can go back up and read that I never said that. That’s pathetic dude
Schafer didn’t come until the bottom of the sixth, so he’s only had two at-bats. But he’s got some catching up to do to equal Frenchy’s swing and miss total today. Good Lord, son, that last pitch was nowhere near hittable or a strike. Just because it’s above the belt don’t mean you got to start the swing.
You know, i had a professor in college who always said, “Hope is not a method to passing this class”… maybe we should stop “hoping” Frenchy will be clutch for us
Tell the truth Furman Bisher – Was that last at bat the one that will cause you pause in your “get off Frenchy’s back” campaign? That was a typical at bat for him and it’s one of the reasons the Braves are struggling in their outfield. Three weak outfielders is tough to hide on a major league team. But you keep up your crusade.
