I was shocked to see that you said “butthead”. Young lady, we have to stop that kind of language now, or pretty soon you’ll be swearing worse than RHR. In the words of one of your favorites, and mine, “we have to nip it, nip it in the bud”.–(Mr. Fife)
Am I just being a pessimist, or does anybody else see this production has less to do with the Braves offense and more to do with the Diamondbacks’ screw ups?

Way to show ‘em how it’s done, JJ!
WoW!!!! Double J has out-hit the AWfense on the entire roadtrip, we’ll take it!
why is kelly leading off again???
wow…not going to complain but…this is very Twilight Zone weird
Finally, I can sleep snuggley in my cozy bed tonight now that the Braves are catching some breaks.
JJ doing it himself. I guess we can thank TP for that hit. If you’re gonna blame him for the bad give him credit for the good.
Oof, KJ man…it’s Jon Garland.
May 29th, 200910:11 pm
shut up JD, we’re enjoying this
Holy moly, it’s raining runs!
DOB, did you ever check out that Kris Krstofferson interview (which was done by Ethan Hawke) that was in Rolling Stone a month or so ago? Dude’s got some interesting takes on life in general.
You are correct after seeing the last 2 outs and not getting the run homw, WTF!
OK Yunel looked better running there.
Chipper belting one would be icing on the cake.
Escobar still swinging at first pitches.
Two poor AB’s for KJ and Yunel.
May 29th, 200910:12 pm
Hey! How you been? I’ve missed you
Alright, McCann, perfect time for a 3 run knock.

Why does everybody gripe about Escobars at bats he is our best hitter with runners in scoring position?
Man That Ball Died!!!
I can hear that sycophant Boog from down here. Yeah. He caught it, Boog. Don’t lose control of your bodily fluids.
May 29th, 200910:14 pm
I almost called it. Thought that one was gone, but hey, we got 4.
Is the wind blowing in DOB?
Who is griping about Escobar’s at bats?
Now that’s what being patient at the plate does for you. They gave us a free one but the others were earned.
“Escobar still swinging at first pitches”
I know, I mean its not like he’s one of the best hitters in the league with runners in scoring position or something. I think the guy knows what he’s doing.
Texas has a large supply of outfielders. Marlon Byrd, Nelson Cruz, Andruw Jones, Josh Hamilton, and a guy named Murphy. They all hit, maybe they’d be looking to deal one of them(obviously not Hamilton or Cruz).
Minnesota also has a large supply of outfielders. Michael Cuddyer, Carlos Gomez, Denard Span, Delmon Young, and Jason Kubel. Delmon Young is kind of their Jeff Franceour, but he has always had a tremendous power potential, and has hit around 300 the last few years. He also has a cannon comparable to Frenchy’s.
May 29th, 200910:15 pm
JD was correct…
The Arizona defense made the Atlanta Awfense look good
It seems like Our Pitchers have more plate discipline and therefore Hit better than our regular position players
Goldenglove: Not much wind to speak of tonight.
May 29th, 200910:16 pm
Boog kind of reminds me of Kevin James.
4 runs are great but should’ve driven JJJ in with no outs.
Sutton and Grace are an awesome play by play combo.
May 29th, 200910:17 pm
thought so, man that ball just died.
Canadian Braves Fan
agreed cricket and that is whats killed them all year so far
May 29th, 200910:18 pm
Sign Jim Edmonds to do what? I mean, what does he bring to the table? I just don’t see how he upgrades our team. People say he can play center, and I guess he “can” play center, but it’s not like he can play center well. He was horrible in the field at Wrigley last year, barely passable. No way he’d be able to handle center at the Ted. And he doesn’t hit left-handed pitching that well, so you’re basically looking at replacing Garret Anderson with Jim Edmonds. Is that an upgrade? I doubt it. Probably not a downgrade, but I can’t imagine it’d be much of an upgrade. Or he replaces Francoeur in right. And I don’t imagine that’s much of an upgrade either. His range is so limited any additional contribution he makes with the bat he probably gives back in the field. Or maybe we bring him on as a LH-Bench Bat. Which I’m not opposed to. He’d probably be more effective than Greg Norton. But I don’t think Edmonds helps us as a regular. I just don’t see it.
Loaf with a pose lol
I know we are supposed to be looking for bats to assist the offense, but does anyone think the Braves could and/or should make a run at Cliff Lee? I would love to see us add a lefty to our rotation. What do you all think it would take for a Lee package?
May 29th, 200910:19 pm
Franceour’s at-bat just proved my point. If he gets a hit, it is a weak single to right. While the RBI hit gives the Braves a 1-0 lead, it doesnt mean that Franceour “has turned it around”. The odds were in Franceour’s favor of eventually getting a hit for an RBI at some point. However, in most cases, when Franceour hits it to right field, he ends up grounding out. The few hits that Franceour has gotten in the last month, have been weak singles to right. No power, no home runs, no hits off the wall…nothing but weak singles to right.
Jair Jurrgens “pulls” the ball down the right field line to knock in two runs. And he has a bad shoulder when it comes to swinging, lol. Take note Franceour.
are they seriously talking about chairs again? i mean, i know the braves have been playing some uninteresting baseball lately but cmon dudes…..yall are better than that.
Hey! How you been? I’ve missed you
LA Woman, Hey? OK. I can’t blame you.
Id get Escobar and Chipper out of there if we get a lead
May 29th, 200910:20 pm
Who was that muscle guy on the D-Backs broadcast?
Tonight would have been a good night to start Martin Prado in right field. With Escobar back at short tonight, Hernandez can be the back up infielder. If someone on the infield got hurt during the game, then Prado could move to the infield and then Franceour could be inserted in right. I feel that having Prado’s bat in the line-up would really help the Braves. Franceour basically is an automatic out.
In the stands I mean.
richie , ARE YOU KIDDING? starting pitching is NOT the problem
May 29th, 200910:21 pm
Honestly, Cox looked like one of those old farts yelling at kids to get off his lawn when they panned to him after ball four.
The Coalition for Betty Lonely to Be the Blog's Song
Come on DOB, make Betty Lonely your blog song tomorrow.
I was hoping you’d be aroud for these late night games…seemed right up your alley
May 29th, 200910:22 pm
I…wanted…an RBI double…BMAC!!
Hey! How’s it going?
Yeah, I’m sorry about that…that’s the worst you’ll read from me, I promise! Hey, good quote, though…
Yep! Not sure if he’s wearing them this inning…
Richie, Our Starting Pitching has been Great…The AWFense Needs to be Addressed Nuff Said!
I also think we need a bonafide leadoff hitter. Someone who is used to and comfortable setting the table for the offense? Do you think we should make a run at Pierre, Bourn or Taveras? I would have suggested Figgins but I feel the Angels are going to make a run now that Vlad is back there. We would move Anderson to the bench and DFA Norton. And go after DeRosa. Thoughts?
Sometimes when they show Bobby getting mad in the dugout he looks like an old man that is yelling at some punk kids to get out of his yard.
May 29th, 200910:23 pm
Actually I like the Idea of Going all out to get Sizemore…Power plus speed package is what this team needs!
“The Arizona defense made the Atlanta Awfense look good”
The offense has been bad but give credit where credit is due. Big Error by Parra I think but GA got a double, Kotchman a hit, Francoeur a hit, and JJ a hit. Schafer put the ball in play instead of striking out which gave him a chance to get on base.
How Flat-Earthers Think About Baseball
May 29th, 200910:24 pm
I know, I mean its not like he’s one of the best hitters in the league with runners in scoring position or something.
Wow, something more to do with luck than skill.
There are no such thing as clutch hitters. Stop the nonsense.
May 29th, 200910:25 pm
judging by what looks like glare on his face, I would say he is wearing them
No To Juan Pierre, His defense sucks and his arm is worse than a High Schooler
I like the Options of Taveras and Bourne…They are cheap options which wouldn’t cost us a lot via trades
But I’d Rather have Shane Victorino and Nellie (Nelson) Cruz
I know the starting pitching has been really good, I agree on that. However, it does help to have a good lefty in our rotation, Imagine putting him between Lowe and Jurrgens or between JJ and Javy. I know you would all agree on this would be a really good move.
May 29th, 200910:26 pm
Got him at the plate!
well, not always perfect for JJ.
Great job by Schafer to play that ball correctly
It’s almost as if the Diamondbacks feel bad for us and they’re trying to give us this game.
Good throw, Kelly.
Schafer played that one perfectly off the wall, finally. Stayed back and let it come to him on the carom.
Wow, he’s slow.
Yea We will take that…! Good Play on the Carom by K-Fer!!! Finally!
Wow.. nice combo. Schafer actually played that ball well and Mac actually blocked the line.
WOW !! nice play
WHAT AN ARM! WOW! I don’t care how old he is that was a grown man move right there. WOW.
Schafer is involved in another running getting nailed at the plate, eh? I wonder if Frenchy is just a tad bit jealous the kid is stealing his thunder..
I’d like those guys as well but you know those 2 arent being moved
Wow – Jordan played a ball off the wall perfectly! He is learning. And great job by KJ and Mac!
May 29th, 200910:27 pm
And that was good to see how Schaf played it off the wall. We’ve seen him get burned by wall plays before.
Then again….when the ball hits that high off the wall, I don’t even think Jordan thinks he has a chance to catch it.
Way to go Bravos. That’s more like it.
did Tracy just completely ignore the 3rd base coach with the stop sign there?
Getting rid of Franceour’s remaining $2 mil in salary, combined with getting out of paying Glavine the $3.5 mil he would be due if he is added to the roster and plays the rest of the year….would free up $5.5 mil to go towards making a trade for a right handed corner outfield bat. If Glavine, at best, can give you 5-6 innings…..why not continue to throw Medlen out there and if he continues to struggle, call up Tommy Hanson.
Damn, what a relay home. Great throws from both Schafer and Kelly. Nice to see McCann hold on to the throw (just kidding, I’m a big fan of McCann).
May 29th, 200910:28 pm
First let me make one thing clear, I like and respect Terry Pendleton. He may even make a good manager some day..but.Yes the ”but” rears it’s ugly head ( so to speak ). Bottom line is TP just hasn’t proved to be a good hitting coach for The Bravos. I think it’s time to judge him by results..it’s time for a change.
HA!! He is OUT!!!!
Was that good enough for y’all?
too bad turner field doesent have 300 foot high center field wall so schafer cant try to be like spiderman
Stinking Mets just won.
Who da hell is standing that close to film a Rattlesnake, “The late Jack Hannah”?
JJ’s era has ballooned to 2.14, oh woe…
Why can’t my boys trust me, man? I coulda knocked both them fools in. Why we gotta send a slow-a$$ man to the plate when they got a batting beast of a pitcher waitin’ to pounce?
Steve from OH
Charlie Morton with a complete-game shutout for Gwinnett tonight…7H, 1BB, 7K. ERA stands at a robust 2.51.
May 29th, 200910:29 pm
Yeah, he was wearing them.
I meant to put a smiley face at the end of my last statement. Didn’t want it to seem so conceited.
As I type this, McCann tags their runner out trying to score. I know that makes you smile.
I’m sorry about the eagle website I gave you. I knew they liked fish. Never knew turtles were a part of their diet.
If you’re still out there, the rumors of my death were greatly exaggerated!
Bottom line is TP just hasn’t proved to be a good hitting coach for The Bravos. I think it’s time to judge him by results..it’s time for a change.
What?!? That’s heresy on this blog! Everybody loves Pendleton here.
Garret just came very close to his first homer on that foul to right. He’s hitting balls hard.
Maybe the defense is helping us tonight, but the D-Backs defense gave us no help last night, they made some spectacular plays. Schafer is starting to look like a bona-fide veteran defender in center. Now, if we can just get that bat going….
I highly doubt that all these Braves listen to music on their phones.
May 29th, 200910:30 pm
I would never think that! I would have responded the same way to you
May 29th, 200910:31 pm
“There are no such thing as clutch hitters. Stop the nonsense.”
Um, tell me where in that statement I said clutch? Just looking at the stats buddy. One of the best hitters in the league with runners in scoring position. Call it what you want.
Kotchman will lead this team in hits!
Tom O – good to have you back, although I suspect I’ll soon be going to record mode (I’m a bit under the weather, and just took something (OTC – legal) that will probably knock me out soon).
Jon Garland is a hit giving up machine.
May 29th, 200910:32 pm
See…another weak pop-up to the ride side for Franceour. No power, no driving the ball.
May 29th, 200910:33 pm
PWH, the bat will come, like scoots said earlier today (last blog). He’s a rookie guys, don’t forget. He’s gonna struggle, whether it be now or after some seasoning at AAA. How often do you see guys come up and light the world on fire in their first two months? Take Adam Jones, a guy a lot of people want…he’s a stud this year, and was a top prospect for a while, but last year he OPSed .711 in his first full season, after TWO partial seasons before. Patience folks, he’s got the tools. He’ll learn how to use them eventually. And unlike Frenchy, he knows how to take a walk.
Nellie Cruz in left, Victorino in Center and Heyward in RF
Man I’m living a Fantasy…I might as well be banging Mariah and Erin Andrews…
Anyways back to reality…
It may be a hard pill to swallow but If Heyward and B. Jones are playing well a month from now we need to bring them up…
The F.O. was Cheap addressing the AWFense in the offseason so we need might need to go with the rookies, Much like we did in 2005…
Man is JF’s bat slow.
We talk baseball, other sports, music, movies, BBQ and whatever (except politics or religion)
