As hapless as the Braves offense has been, let’s keep this in mind, guys: the Cubs scored 5 runs in 5 games last week. Fontenot, Lee, Soto, and Bradley are batting .223, .242, .216, and .200 respectively.
Dempster, Zombrano, and Harden all have ERA’s above 4.00. Can you imagine how much vitriol would circulate this blog if those were our stats?
Wayne, don’t let that screen door hit you in the head!
Oh the pain.
Wayne in Utah
Is there any chance we can forego the simulated “f-bombs” on the ole blog??

I take it back no one on this team deserves to be on the all star team that plays offense. McCann does but like you said he’s been out for awhile. Lowe and Jurrjens deserve to be on the all star team and it would be a crime if they don’t make it. Especially Jurrjens who has had no run support.
Leading by Example
Runner on third with one out. Chipper K’s against The big unit. Atlanta fails to execute and score.
Not A-B-C baseball.
Tokyo Brave And THEY STOLE HOME?!?! How did THAT happen?
Hmm…gee…I don’t know…guess Ross is human, too.
Someone please tell me how TP still has a job.
May 27th, 200911:27 pm
Here Comes Kamakaze’s Inning to Blow Up…Come on, Get Tough!
I’m sorry, did I push one of your buttons? I don’t think I was talking to you, but……whatever.
Giants have a swept a 2 game series this year, but not a 3. I suspect that’s the Braves goal, to help them out a bit.
And that’s the result of Martin Prado hitting cleanup.
I’m embarrassed to have a guy hitting .246 with 2 homers and 7 RBIs “protecting” Chipper. That’d be like having Dan Kolb or Bob Wickman as your closer.
May 27th, 200911:28 pm
Aight D-Ross, Time To kill the pick-off attempts
This game should be tied 1-1: if Ross catches the ball (or Prado makes a better throw) and Chipper makes decent contact.
Very disappointed in Kawakami. Thought he was on track, but thought wrong. I think this is going to be a team of extreme highs and lows until they start doing those little things consistantly. I hate saying this, but the Mets are a better team right now. Oh, and the Phillies are two steps better right now.
May 27th, 200911:29 pm
yes, USC had Randy Johnson & Mark McGuire in the same starting rotation…needless to say, the team was really good
Good our defense didn’t F that play up…
Great to have someone that can bunt.
May 27th, 200911:30 pm
Had The Awfense spotted Kamakaze 1 or 2 runs early the game would going at a different pace right now
I’m not usuing that as an excuse but the AWFense Blows!!!
May 27th, 200911:31 pm
The Braves “road game” marketing crew, or the marketing teams of their opponants, should use this slogan when promoting (ahem) contests, against the Braves:
“The Atlanta Braves…. making mediocre teams look World Series bound since August of 2005. Come check em’ out!”
It’s sad when a two run deficit is insurmountable…
LOL @ Bobby.
I guess if you don’t want to take the time to walk the guy… just hit him.
Unfortunately, the team needs to be significantly upgraded offensively at 4 positions. Anybody think FW can pull this off, or even agree that it needs to be done?
May 27th, 200911:32 pm
I smell a big inning now! Thats what usually happens when the opponent has a big inning!
The announcers need a “and he hits the batter to load the bases” button to hit for this season so far.
Not another bases loaded walk! Please no!!!!
Tomahawkin, true, but the walks he giving is really what I’m talking about. No sense on walking the Giants hitters…none.
May 27th, 200911:33 pm
What was all that?
They turned a double play with two outs…
watching KK pitch i like giving a monkey a hand grenade.
Dodged a bullet there. Time to get some runs.
If you didn’t know better, you’d think the Braves were 20 games out by reading the blog.
Phillies pitching is still a MAJOR issue for them though. There is no doubt that they have the top offense in the division, but they’ve still got some issues on that pitching staff. After 2-3 encouraging outings, Brett Myers had another rough one tonight before leaving w/hip inflammation. Brad Lidge has been extremely shaky. Jamie Moyer has been awful and possibly giving us a preview of what we’re in store for with Glavine next month. Blanton has struggled aside from last night’s start.
We will take That
Fcking AWFense, Come On!!!!!
“Had The Awfense spotted Kamakaze 1 or 2 runs early the game…” Tomahawkin
I’m not sure this offense would recognize a run if the spotted it. Ba-Dump-Bump!
Thanks, I’ll be here all season (like it or not).

Didn’t even know how many were out? Great sh@# Bobby.
What did he do I missed it.
May 27th, 200911:35 pm
That is the first time I have ever seen an infielder go for 4 outs WTF is going on with this team. Dear God
Good news Braves Fans.. we get to see Frenchy bat.. whooo.. Even better news: we don’t have to see Schafer til the next inning.
Prado may have thought he missed 2nd…or he forgot how many outs there were…sheesh it’s not like Chipper has never forgot that before.
Eric from MO
Scott its ok. Thanks for seeing it my way.lol
Can that 4th out carry over to the next inning? Please?
May 27th, 200911:36 pm
Okay Joe Mauer is hitting good, but how did he get so many votes all of a sudden?
bravos – I was referring to the double play they turned with 2 outs.
Wow. Nice play!
No sense walking The Giants Hitters especially since we all know how bad they are other than when they play the braves.
Plus we are playing in a relatively pitchers park…
Damn These Turds are making WEB-Gems on us now…Gawd we are getting Clowned!
May 27th, 200911:37 pm
I think that if we added one decent bat, that we would see some real improvement. The games missed so far with nagging injuries and Mac’s eye issues have be problematic.
I really think a clean up hitter makes all the other players better in their true spots.
Question for Braves Offense
Where’s the non-suck?
God Frenchy SUCKS!
But if you blink, braves fans, you’ll miss Frenchy batting.
Perhaps those predicting doom by the pitch and by the inning have learned a little something?
I wish the Braves would play with a little more pride, here.
Seems like if the Braves win a few games and get 3 or 4 games over .500, they lose 3 or 4 and get at or below .500.
This is frustrating beyond comprehension.
Lets see…………most HR from KJ in a season……..16
How many times Ryan Sandberg hit less than that from 1984 to 1992………..just once.
How many 2b hit at least the same amount of HR he hit last season? 7…………thats half the leagues 2b, not to mention Belliard (Nats) and Barnes(Col) hit 11 HR and had at least 150 less AB than he did. That makes it 9 2b with more at least the same amount of HR he hit in his best season.
He is tied for 5th in HR this season, but we all know he will hit 15 at best……….and he might not finish the season in Atl.
So if KJ is not the power guy you like to think Boo, and he is not a guy that hits for AVG and he is not a great guy with the glove and he is not a base stealer………… what is he? just a mediocre 2b.
Thats all he is……….some power, but not near the power of the elite 2b in the majors……….no base stealing treath———–no high average and horrible mistakes with the glove………….what do we have?
May 27th, 200911:38 pm
Golden boy grounds out!
17 straight innings…
GOD BOOG SHUT UP ABOUT OBP! ITS NOT EVEN ON THE SCOREBOARD YOU FAT LOSER.
LOL..Joe, Frenchy being next to last among qualifying obp% for outfielders ….68th out of 69th…THAT IS BELIEVABLE.
That had to be the quickest inning in some time WTF!
That was pretty ugly.
“Okay Joe Mauer is hitting good, but how did he get so many votes all of a sudden?”
What else is there to do in MN besides sitting around casting votes?
Rob in Mobile
a643dp, this is “twilight zone” kind of stuff going on. Jim Powell just remarked this is the “worst four innings the Braves have played this season, and yet they’re only down 2-0.”
Powell just commented with a hint of disgust about Francoeur swinging at the first pitch, too, by the way.
May 27th, 200911:39 pm
Frenchy isn’t an exception on this team. He’s the blasted poster boy for our inept lineup.
Man, we are making Randy Johnson look like the Randy of five or six years ago.
Wow I took a sip of my drink and before I put it back on the table that half of the inning was over.
I went to pee. Came back and the Braves were already done batting…
Oh well….. I’ve spent an hour and a half in mediocrity… time for bed!!
Lakers are getting all the calls in the late 4th quarter. Too bad…
69th out of 70 outfielders !
I’m guessing the Braves are making outs this quickly so they can get out town early?
DOB – better score that next batch of bleu cheese fries quick, or the game might be over!
And those fries – I don’t remember anything at the Ted sounding so tasty. How do you you rate the fare there compared to other ML stops?
May 27th, 200911:40 pm
Well I remember earlier they said something about Bobby not liking it either and I had missed it. I know he hit Rowand but I thought Bobby may have done something.
Only one earned run against Kawakami — other was unearned because of the passed ball.
Jim Powell just remarked, “Not sure Randy Johnson has worked up a sweat yet.”
Not when the Braves are doing everything they can to help him win number 299……
We just got SWEPT by the team that scores the least amount of runs in the NL. Next up… 4 straight losses to the diamondbacks.
Braves should just set up camp around .500, when they’re over .500 it gives false hope. Their home this year is around .500, they need to stay home.
May 27th, 200911:41 pm
Randy Johnson had an ERA over 6.00 before this game started. If Frank Wren has too much patience, then his 96 million dollar team is not going to break 80 wins this year. As good as this team is at preventing runs, the trio of Lowe/Jurrjens/Vasquez won’t be this good all year long. So that means you need to score more runs. Also, the 4th and 5th spots in this rotation suck.
We have one hit in 6 innings against a 45 year old has been with an ERA of 6.26. Only the Braves. Pathetic.
May 27th, 2009
LOL..Joe, Frenchy being next to last among qualifying obp% for outfielders ….68th out of 69th…THAT IS BELIEVABLE.
Well he was last year I think. Seems like he is starting to come around.
So let me get this straight…Francoeur is number 68 out 69 as far as MLB OF’s making outs and Bobby Cox continues to play this guy EVERY single game? I’m lost, and Joe S. is trying his darndest to make Frenchy not look so bad to the world, but the numbers don’t lie. Of course, he knows Jeff is young and doesn’t want to bash him like 98% of others do. But man, that’s just sad.
I’ve been suffering through mediocrity with these Braves for the past 3 years!
May 27th, 200911:42 pm
lol I go the the official page and half the stories are about minor leagues. Not much going on up here I can tell.
I don’t think they are listening or learning… (your 11:37 post)
Plain and Simple this is a display of Uninspired baseball tonight…
I know this game isn’t over but they seem like they are just trying to get to the off day. I don’t boo when I go to games but I Would if I was at the game tonight. It’s one thing to get shut down by great pitching but it’s another to don’t care about getting Punk’d by the Jubroni teams of the league
It seems like we love to lay down against the Garbage teams of the league
Wonder Why people rather go to see the Gwinnett Braves more!!!!
Tomahawkin, please shut up! My gawd you’re an insufferable biatch! Why do some of you idiots feel the need to editorialize by the minute?
May 27th, 200911:43 pm
Amazing that the Atlanta Hawks drafted all those big white dudes (Adam Keefe, Cal Bowdler, etc.) in the 90s and early ’00s and they all sucked. The one exception was Pau Gasol and of course he’s the one they traded immediately after drafting him.
To spend 96 million on a team, and not break .500, well that means someone should lose their job. Cox is going no where. Looks like Wren is gone then.
I’m sorry, did I push one of your buttons? I don’t think I was talking to you, but……whatever.”
NO, NO, Wayne. You told friend to not let the screen door hit him as he exited, he responded to kiss his a–, and I said don’t let the screen door hit your head . . . assuming you did as he asked and the screen door . . . aw, never mind, but it wasn’t meant as a slight.
Folks,I love this team as much as anybody, but we don’t have it this year and that’s that.We could bring up hanson and trade for two or three bats and this team won’t make the playoffs.
Meant to say he was last, last year.
May 27th, 200911:44 pm
I’m sorry, Frenchy’s OBP%. You’re right “bravos2249″. That’s still bad.
ummm, what was martin doing there?
Skip the fries, and go for the nachos!
All he had to do was go tag him, not throw to first.
KJ is 10th in the majors in HR among 2b.
23……..count them…………23 guys that play 2b have more SB than him.
18………….count them……18 2b have a better batting avg than him in the majors.
20 second baseman have more RBI than him
11 second baseman have a better F% than him
The guy is not intimidating anybody………..he is nothing but average, stop thinking he is in Utleys or uglas league………..he is not……..At least lemke was clutch and a great fielder and at least giles was clutch and played hard.
May 27th, 200911:45 pm
Slowest man in baseball. Easy play for Francoeur.
Bengie Molina might be the slowest human alive
