SoWeGa, beats the hell outta me. Truth to tell, I was a diehard fan from the time the Braves came here in 1966. Until I went into the military, I never missed a game. Throughout the terrible 70s and 80s with only a few winning years mixed in, I still rooted for the Braves. I think what happened is that I just got so used to the winning during the 90s and early 2000s. Now, I see a team that, in a lot of ways, resembles those cellar dwellers of decades past and rather than lose sleep about it, I laugh about it. At any rate, it’s time to call it a night.

Here’s some good news for a change. Saw the Myrtle Beach Pelicans play yesterday. Heyward was awesome. Cody Johnson played well. Freeman was a non-factor. But watching Heyward, you can see that he will be an impact player. Hope he’s in AA by end of year and in Atlanta. Kid reminds me of a young Eric Davis. Fierce talent, great love of the game, and speed. He beat out an infield single.

I think Frenchy still has some value. He is still very young at age 25, he plays gold glove defense and has one of the best if not the best arm in RF. And offcourse there’s alway’s the potential for power he has shown in the past. Not only that, he also has improved a bit from last year.

I think the Braves should trade him. Unfortunately the Braves can’t keep giving him the patience he needs to find his groove once again. They have some pretty good outfielders in the minors a.k.a. (Jayson Heyward, Gorkys Hernandez, and Cody Johnson). They only need a 2 year rental.

I think for obvious reason they won’t trade for a guy like Matt Holliday, they don’t want anothe Mark Texeira situation(in Holliday’s case he’ll be a FA after this year) so he doesn’t fit, he’d only be a 2 month rental.

But not only do the Braves need an outfielder, but they need a quality power hitter who bats right handed(considering all their best prospects are left handed, and this is an already left handed dominated lineup).

Jermaine Dye is a good choice. He is under contract till the end of this year, and has a mutual option worth 12 million(which he’d better agree because frankly after seeing the market for this year’s outfielders, he won’t get anything better than that).

Brad Hawpe is a good candidate, but he is left handed.

Magglio makes too much money(and his performance has been dropping, especially his power).

Jayson Werth won’t be traded to a division rival.

Josh Willingham, or Austin Kearns are not an improvement.

Corey Hart if the Brewers fall out of contention.

Brian Giles is left handed and is hitting 158.

Delmon Young seems to be an ideal candidate, but his power figures the last few years haven’t been particularly great.

Nelson Cruz, seems ideal but not sure if texas would trade him.

Randy Winn good profesional hitter but not a power hitter.

Aubrey Huff good candidate, but hasn’t played the outfield in the past few years and he is left handed.

Luke Scott good candidate, but he is left handed.

Mark Derrosa good candidate but a FA after this year and not exactly the best outfielder.

Ichiro Suzuki, would fill the leadoff position, be an immediate impact player. But it will be tough for the MAriners to trade him but if I were them I wouldn’t be on no listen mode. He is under contract until 2012 and is making 17 mill/per year, so it’s a pretty big commitments.

Xavier Nady, the guy needs shoulder surgery is a FA after this season.

Nick Swisher, no way the Yanks trade him the way he is hitting, and they need him after Nady’s injury.

The most realistic candidates are Jermaine Dye, Brad Hawpe, Mark Derrosa, and Delmon Young.

In regards to Pendleton… I always liked him as a player, but that doesn’t make him qualified to be a hitting instructor. It is concerning that one of our key players (Francoeur) went outside the organization to fix his problematic swing. I’d like to know what the inside buzz from the clubhouse is in terms of the players’ feelings about TP being the hitting coach.

Talked to Huddy about his return to throwing off mound yesterday. He threw 15 pitches yesterday, 20 today, and now will start skipping a day and building up quickly to 75 pitches, where he was in spring training before his prescribed rest period.

He said his arm feels better than in has in years, and that it’s obvious now to him that something was wrong, and now it’s fixed. In other words, sounds like he’d learned to pitch with the pain or discomfort before, to point where he didn’t notice it. But now that it’s gone, he notices it.

Tokyo tea, huh? Sounds tempting. With summer coming up, though, something lighter might be nice. Maybe an oolong tea-shochu (shochu is a liquor between 20-40% alcohol), or shochu and lemon or lime juice. Nice, mellow buzz, that. Really takes the pain out of another Frenchy K, say, or reading virtually anything from the goofball-du-jour (that’s be Urban, Yoji, or the stangely MIa MariettaDerek) on this blog. great news about Hudson. I am excited for him. It would not surprise me at all for him to regain his dominating form we saw in Oakland. I hope he can come back, the Braves exercise their option, and he can remain a Brave for a while.

Lowe, Hudson, Jurrjens, Hanson, Kawakami/Medlen – very strong 5 for next year and that is assuming that vazquez gets traded for a bat and/or prospects
