My God. The team of Hank, Justice, McGriff, Gant, the Big Cat etc. has Martin Prado batting clean-up tonight. Good little ballplayer but the frigging clean-up hitter?

We have issues.

And of course Eric, you think that the Braves have a shot at 90 wins? Now, who is a dumb blogger? That is as stupid a comment as you can make. The Braves will have a successful season if they win more than they lose. The last time the Braves won more than lost was 2007 and they had 4 players who drove in more than 90 runs that year. Who on this current team do you see driving in 90 or better? I doubt that Chipper will get the chance to with his injuries and the way pitchers pitch around him.

To elaborate, he’s proven he can’t hit without Arod in the lineup. Which means he gets more fastballs. Anyone that can’t carry a team by himself, at least while hitting 3rd, ain’t worth no darn 20 million per.

Interesting Decision,

Omar Infante vs. Johan Santana is what ownage looks like. David Ross was a different man back then, and he didn’t have the formidable combination of Jordan Schafer and Kenshin Kawakami hitting behind him back then either.

It is great to have Chipper back, no doubt, even slowed with pain… but the holes seem so significant without Escobar in the lineup…. seems like when Kelly bats lower and Escobar leads off we have a completely different level of offensive potency. Jerry he has a .380 OBP and 3 homeruns in 57 at bats. If take that with a normal amount of plate appearances,600, he would hit 35. The BA is an overated statistic, which is greatly outweighed by his OBP. OBP has much more to do with winning than BA. Once again you show why you are a moron.

It seems to me that the market dictates a player’s value rather than our opinions of that player. I think 20 million is way too much to pay for anything, but I don’t have that kind of money to throw around. A few mlb teams do. I do not think that Teixeira’s lack of performance in the early season is indicative of anything other than his career norm. Tex has always been a slow starter and given time he likely would have produced with or without A-Roid in the lineup.

The whole Rays team any day. No doubt they developed a team the right way, but it took a lot of painful seasons to get them to that point. There is certainly no way that team stays together without some serious cash being sunk into it at some point. Who doubts that Longoria won’t one day make A-Roid kind of money? That is the challenge smaller market teams face. They have to be great at identifying and developing talent in order to keep putting competitive teams on the field because they’ll never be able to keep that kind of talent together.

Who’s overreacting Eric? I’ve consistantly pointed out what I think are the flaws to this team. You haven’t see me once jump on the bandwagon when we win a few games, and then follow that up with b!tching when we lose a few. That is overreacting. In fact, I bet you and I see more eye-to-eye on this team than you are willing to admit. Probably the biggest difference is that I think it’s funny as hell how many ways this team can find to lose games. Just goes to show that life is a cycle of events. The Braves are well on their way to those oh so lonesome days of the 70s & 80s. Outside of their top 3 pitchers, they are already there. And the only thing that gives any hope of avoiding such a collapse is their minor league system.

SoWeGa exactly! A fan doesnt laugh when his team loses. Besides our trio of pitchers is what great teams are built around. I have said since September it would take 2 years(2010) for us to be good again and thats if we built our team right. Which we have. I have no problem being .500 this year and being good next year. We had so many holes at the end of last year you couldnt relistically expect Wren to fix it all in one offseason. There isnt enough time. I just hope we dont trade for Holiday. Lets keep those prospects for a good offseason trade. Also gives us a couple more months to know which prospects to keep.

Great options to have! Coffee and a pastry will have to do here while I try to get some work done. *SIGH* how nice to be able to watch the games at normal hours….

You know, the sad thing about Frenchy is that a change of scenery might do him wonders. I wouldn’t be at all surprised to see him put up some excellent numbers and rebuild his career away from his hometown and with the tutelage of a decent hitting instructor. KC or Cleveland, anyone? How about Seattle? An outfield with Frenchy and Ichiro- now that’d cut down on runners taking an extra base! Boston would be a horrible choice- if he’s raked over the coals on this blog, can you imagine the Fenway denizens after a game or two where he’s left a boatload of runners on base?

Regardless, Frenchy needs a fresh start somewhere, and we need to get something of decent value in return, whether that’s now, or later in the season.
