“How is Victorino more of an impact player than McCann?”

Nice idea, scoots. I’d take the blue, or a bla…who am I kidding, I’d take the red label, if you’re buying, but I’m too cheap to pay for the good stuff.

But isn’t Steve from Ohio still waiting for your check to cover the Extra Innings package?

Oh, I don’t know, maybe because Schafer is faster, plays better defense, has a much better arm, is currently slugging about what Blanco slugged last season, and has a better career minor league OPS, and posted better numbers in AA and high-A the last two seasons than Blanco has in his entire life? Did I mention that he’s posting better numebers in the majors than Blanco has in the minors, 9-game hitting streak included?

I’m sure that this will be of little relevance to you, seeing as how you pay little attention to empirical facts and instead post whatever knuckleheaded idea pops into your feeble brain every 10 seconds.

Victorino = maybe top 20 outfielder in MLB. McCann = absolutely top 3 catcher in MLB.

On plays at the plate, McCann prefers to backup home plate and have the pitcher actually take the throw.

It’s a freaking JOKE! What the heck? I’m not selling Rally McTurtle tee-shirts or anything. Jeepers, man! Chill out. I’m not even the one who originally called him “Rally McTurtle”. If you want, I’ll find out who did this horrid deed and tell you who it is so you cann go burn his house down.

Honestly, though, I have to think you’re not serious. This is just too much…it has to be a put-on.

Choppinmama

Yeah, you better call the ASPCA, just in case…

Nate

Nope–I’m not on board. Never really cared for the Reaper–mostly just because he plays for the Fillies and has been known to do well against the Braves. And if he wanted me to get on board his bandwagon, July 27 of last year didn’t help his case any, either.

Um…but yeah, I hope you’re kidding with that trade proposal.

Bringing up Blanco to give Schafer a few days off would be a good idea. Also would give us a lead-off hitter. Unless the Braves are going to get Edmonds soon. If he can even still play CF which I’ve read mixed reports on.

From now on, during a play at the plate, Bobby Cox will call a timeout and have Ross go in as the designated catcher.

“The problem with the Tex trade is that the Braves didn’t take advantage of having him on the team.” Chop Chop

NOBODY has. He’s not a winner. Winning doesn’t follow him. He’s a stat monger. Nothing more. Nothing less. Now he’s taking up a ton of payroll on a team that has a new park, where he probably wasnt’ needed. Rafael Furcal would have 10 HR playing in that park.

Glad he’s the Yankees problem, and not ours.

yeah, maybe so… but I’d at least like to talk about trades that happen in the real world rather that deal with a guy that changes his name every post and talks fiction. Im just hoping the Braves front office (as they did last year) can accept that once again this is just not a very good baseball team. No way does adding another bat turn this team into a contender. They are the definition of a .500 baseball team and the worst thing a mediocre team can do is pretend they are good and make trades that cripple the rebuilding process.

McCann drops the ball a lot because it’s hard to hold on to both his teddy bear and the ball at the same time.

In 07 and 08 McCann blocked the plate and ended up missing games because of it. In 07 he missed about 6 weeks because of his collision with Eric Byrnes. I would rather him go get the ball and try to apply a tag than risk injury in a collision.

Shaun,

While I don’t agree with N8’s comment that “winning” either follows a player or doesn’t, the fact is that Tex DIDN’T help the Angels at all. When they acquired him they were already a lock to make the playoffs, and theirs chances were better than 50% at having homefield advantage. The reason they acquired him was to help them advance in the playoffs, and a 1st round exit means he did not fulfill the purpose they brought him in for. Was that his fault? Probably a little bit, but he could have played awesome in the playoffs and they still could have lost. It’s very, very rare in baseball when a non-pitcher is able to win a playoff series without much help, and Tex didn’t get ANY help from the rest of the Angels in that series.

“Shaun May 28th, 2009 5:03 pm N8, yeah, Tex really hurt the Angels, didn’t he? The Angels only played at a .607 clip after Tex joined them.”

In that division, last year, The Braves could have played at a .607 clip. It’s well known Tex is a second half player, but I agree with N8 where the stats are concerned. Tex hits nost of his “bombs” when leading or trailing big.

“N8, yeah, Tex really hurt the Angels, didn’t he? The Angels only played at a .607 clip after Tex joined them.” shaun

Actually, the Angels won at a .607 clip (34-22), after trading for Tex. HOWEVER, before the trade, they were 66-40 (.627 winning percentage), BEFORE trading for Tex.

So not only was he NOT a difference maker (like he wasn’t in Atlanta), the were actually a little worse in the W-L department with him in the lineup.

Well worth the contract the Yankees gave him huh? Apparently, Cashman doesn’t have access to the baseball-reference website to check this stuff out?

Great one DB. Nice to hear a voice of reason amidst the fickle fan base. It’s early yet. Even with huge holes in the outfield our strong rotation should keep us in the race until teams are ready to deal in a couple of months. That should give Frenchy and any others on the trading block ample time to prove their worth or justify the action of shipping them out of town.

Wait one damn minute! What about Jordan in center? Why can’t Jordan S hit hi, middle and low inside pitches? Why has Terry P not fixed that? Why is it that every hitter seems to have a hitting coach that’s part of the family or in AAA or AA?
I think that we should start looking for a real Batting Coach. Remember, Terry never wanted the job in the first place! I think that attitude is finally showing it’s ugly head.
