Okay I have wasted enough time on this garbage can team, Wren until you do something about this $hit ,I am calling for a complete Boycott of Turdner Field immediately!!!
And the middle relief is still a problem for the Braves. With the offense as bad as it is, we need a near perfect middle relief and set of closers. EOF has been good, but Moylan just isn’t himself, we can’t be giving up runs like this.
6-3, too much for this offense to overcome. It’s so sad, but true. Braves just aren’t good enough to win this division. And Bobby once again makes a move too late. Guy doesnt have it, but he leaves him in. Same old Bobby night in and night out.
dylan w/o the dead
I want a moon pie
TBF(n)K as Billy
Joe the problem is I dont worship baseball players….seems to me your insecure in you own world you have to pick on people you dont even know….your the defintion of “internet tough guy”. Its ok I understand its tough being you. peace bro.
May 28th, 200912:45 am
Well this game has not been fun…oh, how I long for the braves of two weeks ago
lol, braves tried so hard to just to score 2 and O’flar..whatever, easily gives it right back.
“This is our team” this is what we have to look forward to every day … *sigh*
Chippers extension is also looking like a huge mistake.
Dude looks old and done for.
Yeah, Rob, but it seems like EVERY GAME that we’re down by 3 or 4 in the 6th or 7th, we score a couple, and then give them right back minutes later.
Ok…now we’re in disaster territory. We just caught the Giants ant the wrong time, everything going right for them, just as we caught the Blue Jays at the right time and everything went right for us.
Chipper hurts this team by playing hurt. Sometimes they need to just suck it up and let Chipper heal no matter if he says he can go or not. Happens every year that he rushes injuries and ends up with a nagging injury.
For the record Diaz/Anderson are on pace to have 91 RBI’s combined. They are a very servicable combination in left. Schafer and Francouer are ruining this team. AT LEAST ONE HAS TO GO. Try something different….anything different.
Jordan Schafer has no business batting in the bigs, right now, folks; pure and simple. He seems to idolize Jeff Francoeur’s approach at the plate, and this team can ill-afford two such guys in the lineup, right now.
Wow, I mean, I realize the team’s options are limited, but good grief, there has to be a way to sit him, send him down, put Dias and Garrett in the lineup at the same time til we figure something better out.
The more this season plays out, the more signing Glav and Kawakami (who’s actually a quality #3 or #4 at this point, really) instead of going after Ibanez looks foolhardy. Yeah, pitching woes, 2008, yada yada yada; but we over-did it, in retrospect, and that power bat we’re lacking is RAKING for the Philthies.
The good news is, nobody’s running away with the NL (L)East, so the sense of ‘urgency’ isn’t there, but I have serious doubts we’ll be able to hover around .500 through July with Schafer showing NO signs of actually learning anything about his approach at the plate, and with Francoeur just being, well, Francoeur. We need better out of their slots in the lineup. And I think in the next 30-45 days.
May 28th, 200912:46 am
can someone please enlighten me as to what, exactly, a moon pie is?
Manny Acosta. This should get interesting.
Rob in Mobile
MFin04 – “And Bobby once again makes a move too late. Guy doesn’t have it, but he leaves him in. Same old Bobby night in and night out.”
And same old Bobby tomorrow, and the next day, and the next day…………..
Chop It Up All-star
14 hits for San Fran…now that’s a joke.
I thought Schafer was still in the majors because he could field his position-
OMG, we are about to be swept by the Lowly Giants, I mean, seriously!!!! How the hell does Randy ‘I am 80 something years old, but can still get Braves hitters out’ Johnson only give up 1 run in 6 innings. He looked like Cy Young out there. And there goes our boy O’Flaherty finally joining the rest of the pen in being mediocre.
May 28th, 200912:48 am
I’m loving the 98 mph from Acosta!
cabravesfan, they are a popular item down here in Mobile, especially during Mardi Gras (and Mobile is the true home of Mardi Gras). It’s two chocolate (or banana, or vanilla) soft cookies with a marshmallow center – think of a jumbo Oreo cookie with a marshmallow middle.
DOB you’re around the players all the time, does Jeff Francoeur really not get that swinging at the first pitch, particularly when it’s not your pitch, is a bad idea. Chipper or some of the other vets don’t rag him about that? Is he trying to get released on purpose?
May 28th, 200912:49 am
Can’t we all say Wren trading Josh is bad in hindsight? If Josh was hitting .240 and GA was tearing it up no one would be saying anything. Almost every single one of you wanted Schafer to start, and that had nothing to do with GA. The fact that the Braves didn’t want both Josh Anderson and Schafer on this team lead to them signing him. Get Over it.
I wish the Braves would just play passionately. They don’t even act like they want to win. I mean, really!
Once upon a time, they would have responded right back with 3 or 4 runs of their own…
May 28th, 200912:50 am
Oh god I’m so sick of all you idiots bringing up the josh anderson trade! K-fer sucks but please give that a rest.
Rob in Mobile-
Appreciate it, thanks! I’ve always wondered what they were…and now I want one too
if the braves do make some trades, it needs to be for the future. Start rebuilding the minors with guys who have potential. If Francoeur is traded to the Red Sox, we need to get 1-2 minor league guys in return. Same thing if they trade one of our excess starters.
May 28th, 200912:51 am
and you have to have an RC Cola with a moon pie!
It’s just Southern Logic!
Gawd Dammit!!!No-Fcking Accountability at all for the Fcking AWFense! No Accountability from Bobby, From the Players, Fron TP, WTF!!!
TP Needs To go!
Send K-fer’s A..s Down and Dump Francoeur I’m tired of this “Atlanta Golden Boy Crap” Had It been Heyward struggling like this some of the fans/media (xcluding D.O.B.) would of ran him out of Town a long time ago
Last but Not Least Bring Ned Yost in and Let Bobby Go Out before it gets any worse
Josh Anderson 304 ba 10 sb 10 rbi , so what does that tell you about Spring Training hot spells. Thanks Bobby.
“Can’t we all say Wren trading Josh is bad in hindsight?”
Sure – we can, but hindsight isn’t going to do us a dang bit of good. Whining about it isn’t either. What’s done is done. This is Frank and Bobby’s mess to clean up, which means it won’t likely get done any time soon…..
Our blowpen is as streaky as our Awfense.
May 28th, 200912:52 am
What’s almost as pathetic as Francour’s approach to hitting is the fact I’m probably going to watch these last two AB’s for the Braves (just in case)
There is no need to panic……….we have the best manager on earth , he will come up with something…………right?
Hey, look at it this way, at least when we lose and the Giants win, we will have matching records, isnt that cute?? Finally 3 games above .500 again and we get swept by the Giants to put us right back at .500, this team is so pathetic.
at least bay area steve is getting in some quality drinking time tonight.
May 28th, 200912:53 am
“Last but Not Least Bring Ned Yost in”
Luke Scott. I read on another blog that he might be a good fit here. He has got some pop for sure!
This team is getting to the point where it’s almost beyond fixing. Same stuff every night and no changes in sight. Very depressing. We did find a position for GA, permanent pinch hitter to replace Norton.
Dr. Van Nostrand
You do realize that Josh Anderson has a pathetic .680 OPS this season, right? You also know that he’s posted an even more pathetic .506 OPS so far in May, right? Sure, he has 9 SB, but that’s really the only positive when you look at his stats. What do you think is so great about him?
May 28th, 200912:54 am
cabravesfan, Necromancr is right – an RC cola is a must with a Moon Pie. RC is big down here, too. On New Year’s, Mobile has the “Moon Pie Drop,” sort of like a southern version of the ball in New York City….
,I am calling for a complete Boycott of Turdner Field immediately!!! JoeBrave
how ’bout if you just boycott the blog, nitwit? That would be a public service.
Cabraves, moon pies are nothing to write home about. Theyre cakey marshmellowey big cookie sort of things. I’ll send you one if youd like to try it lol.
This is the longest game ever. Just a few Minutes short of 3 hrs and 2 innings left. Good lord im going to bed. Night yall.
Rob in Mobile
Did you not read my post? sheesh obviously not…it was basically telling people to get over it. If you did I’m sorry I blew up on you but the way you responded it doesn’t seem like it.
Anyone notice that Casey Kotchman hits a ton of weak ground outs to the first baseman off of his hands? That’s two tonight.
May 28th, 200912:55 am
Swept by the team with the fewest runs scored in the majors (before the series started).
I’m calling it 4 K’s for Chipper!
BigMacAttack…..problem is, if the Braves send Francoeur to Boston, somebody HAS to play RF for us once he’s gone, so just getting prospects isn’t the answer.
Doc Holliday….I’m fully aware what Schafer’s still here for; but his defense was never in-question. I guarantee you if Frank Wren could go back and undo the Anderson trade to Detroit, though, knowing what he knows now, he’d have started the year platooning ‘em both. Josh Anderson was our OF insurance policy “if” Schafer wasn’t ready.
Well, Schafer isn’t ready.
Right Doc, you bet! I wouldn’t trust my —– with Bobby.
Golden Sombrero 1st time in Chippers career
May 28th, 200912:56 am
Theres Chippers 4th strikeout of the night, isnt that wonderful.
Let me say this again, Chipper is hurting this team by playing hurt. Not sure what Bobby is watching, but Chipper should have been out of this game innings ago.
Sit Chipper Down NOW!!! WTF Bobby!!!
First ever Golden sombrero for my Chipper? i wish id gone to bed an hr ago.
lol I guess we finally see what Schafer has been learning from Hoss ( joke)
Coach (2010 or Bust)
We don’t need Josh Anderson, our Braves are losing just fine without him
Chipper should be on the D.L.
May 28th, 200912:57 am
Jordan was tearing the cover off the ball in spring training, while the other candidates for CF were either off playing in the World Baseball Classic or just not hitting or playing as well. He earned the job, and like most rookies not named Pujols, he’s struggling. I think we could all live with a rookie struggling if we were getting anything from RF and more consistency from LF.
Rob in Mobile
Shoot yeah, dude, you can get those things by the box full for dirt cheap, too!
I like em and all, but I don’t eat a lot of them cuz there loaded with calories and other “sinful” things.
But oh well.
3 days ago: tied with Mets
After tonight: 3.0 GB of Mets
I agree…Chipper hasn’t exactly helped these last 2 days.
May 28th, 200912:58 am
First time in 2,060 career games that Chipper has struck out four times. He had 28 three-strikeout games, none this season.
Actually Pujols is kinda struggling. He’s been walked a ton and he’s struck out some.
May 28th, 200912:59 am
This team can look so good and then so bad. That equates to .500.
Come On Martin, Throw The Fcking Helmet!!!!
bravos2249, my mistake. I admit I sort of “breezed” over the first sentence, mainly because like you, I’m tired of reading about how we shouldn’t have traded Anderson. I’ll be a bit more careful in reading next time.
Chipper should not have gotten the chance to get 2, 3 or 4 strikeouts today. He’s looked hurt at the plate all night long. He was going to have a tough time getting to first even if he hit the ball.
Prado got screwed!!!!
May 28th, 20091:00 am
prado was robbed
Chipper had 8 K’s for the whole month before tonight….dam
That was a “you’re not coming back anyways and I wanna go home” call on the Prado’s groundout.
You know, moon pies are made here in Chattanooga. I worked there for like two weeks and it is grueling working the assembly line for 7 hours straight. I had Chipper Jones type feet after that week. And yeah, they’re not that tasty to me either.
May 28th, 20091:01 am
suck it up prado. You’re team is going to get swept … you being on base isn’t going to change that.
At this time it doesnt matter who we trade for, he (they) will end up playing as bad as anybody in this lineup………..
BTW, AJ is hitting above .290 for texas………….wasnt he supposed to be done for his career? Does playing nder bobby has anything to do with it…………..just think about it.
JF supposed to be a superstar…………failed
AJ leaves…………he plays better
GA comes——–he underproduces
TEX leaves———he gets back to form
Kotchman comes……..lowers his production
Necromancer & Rob-
I may have to make do with a homemade version of the moon pie…not sure where i can get RC Cola out here
cakey, marshmellowy, chocolatey goodness? What’s not to love there?
WTH, we all should have known we were going to lose tonight, I mean, look at the stupid lineup that Bobby put up, PRADO BATTING CLEANUP AND DIAZ HITTING FIFTH?!?!?! Yeah, thats a lineup that strikes fear into opposing pitchers. I dont give a rats arse who is on the mound, we should have had McCann in there along with Kelly. This was a weak lineup and it showed.
May 28th, 20091:02 am
Lordy as if having Tomahawkin wasn’t enough now we’ve got MFin04 too? Aye Yhay!
Pig People Everywhere!
No problem. I mainly typed that…the first one about the trade….cause it’s last and I’m irritated. No problem, I just wanted to make sure you knew what I meant, lol. And that I probably knew you skimmed over it.
You worked at the moon pie factory? Lol, that’s some cool trivia. I bet that was a pretty interesting job.
who are the idiots still defending Jordan’s defensive skills???? Broke the wrong way and let a soft liner drop again.
What a bust for an outfield!
If Chipper didn’t have his arsenal of injuries, how would pitchers ever get him out?
May 28th, 20091:03 am
Of all the games I have to miss…Haren v. D Lowe should be a great match up tomorrow
9 hits one earned run in 17 straight innings. dan haren tomorrow night.
May 28th, 20091:04 am
Chop it: Jordon just got hot at right time. Earned it, well you got it and he’s looking great.
They also go pretty good with chocolate milk. Something about chocolate milk helps enhance the flavor.
Eventhough there’s not much flavor to begin with.
Mr Negativity is back …
THis team is a bunch of head cases
This team has a will to lose and lose they will
I dare any of you Fat A$$ Cox supporters to tell me why Chipper is still in the game. What?? Did KJ show up late to a meeting and you REFUSE to play him because of principal while the NL batting champ is playing his way to a 30 day DL stint instead of 15. This is the worst MLB game I have ever watched. From the crossups from the pitcher and all the WPs. The three stooges act by Ross , The tweedle dee and tweedle dumb show in CF and RF. To top it off Flobby Cox has our franchise player trying to pull a Wllis Red in May. JESUS CHRIST BOBBY COX SUCKS
Toronto has lost 9 in a row and they are 1.5 out………..WTF
May 28th, 20091:05 am
Blaine Boyer is the Jordan Shafer
What exactly is the Jordan Shafer? And why is Blain Boyer one of these?
Did You see My last post addressed to You..?
If you don’t like it then so be it…!
Well said a643dp, well said!
NEVER GET & KEEP MOMENTUM – not in an inning (always give back runs they score when trying to come back) and not in a season as 3 games above 500 has now been successfully blown.
Moon Pies are the best. I love the banana flavor. Made in Chattanooga. You can order them online: http://www.moonpie.com/
May 28th, 20091:06 am
MFin04, yeah like six years ago. Me and my brother got the job through a temp. service, and it wasn’t that interesting for me. Of course, we had the worst job of most of the other workers there. I guess there are worse jobs though.
I think I’d rather talk about moon pies than make my hair turn prematurely gray by griping about our baseball team…
May 28th, 20091:07 am
does francour swing at the first pitch here?
I agree. Failure is contagious and so is winning. It’s going to take a several player change. Hopefully that change will come from players playing to their potential.
I want a moonpie too. We have Strawberry and Jalapeno(yes it works) flavored moonpies just down the street. 50 cent for pure joy!
cabravesfan, Moon Pies are quite dry (but good with an RC), and RC (like Moon Pies) is a southern thing, so good luck finding some. You might be able to go to each of their websites and order them. I love Cheerwine (a cherry soda mainly sold in North Carolina) and I order it online and have a case shipped to me every now and then.
May 28th, 20091:08 am
I would bet my home, car and dog that we wont score a single run and that we will win next game by a margin of 8 runs…………wanna bet?
This season is 2008 all over again but now we have pitching and less offense (tex).
Pete Orr and Woodward fit this team perfectly, arent they available……….invite them to the dance.
Necromancer, NO. Chocolate milk goes good with a big chunk of dip.
The Braves Motto & Disclaimer all in one:
DON’T GET YOUR HOPES UP
May 28th, 20091:09 am
There are worse jobs.
For 4 days last summer, I cleaned porta toilets til I got a more respectable job.
I saw some things and smelled some things I wish I never came across!
Note that it was the summer. You could only imagine the smell!
braves70, thanks for posting the Moon Pies link. I was certain you could order them online, but since they’re quite plentiful here, I can drive down to the store and grab one instead….
We talk baseball, other sports, music, movies, BBQ and whatever (except politics or religion)
