Okay I have wasted enough time on this garbage can team, Wren until you do something about this $hit ,I am calling for a complete Boycott of Turdner Field immediately!!!
And the middle relief is still a problem for the Braves. With the offense as bad as it is, we need a near perfect middle relief and set of closers. EOF has been good, but Moylan just isn’t himself, we can’t be giving up runs like this.
6-3, too much for this offense to overcome. It’s so sad, but true. Braves just aren’t good enough to win this division. And Bobby once again makes a move too late. Guy doesnt have it, but he leaves him in. Same old Bobby night in and night out.
Joe the problem is I dont worship baseball players….seems to me your insecure in you own world you have to pick on people you dont even know….your the defintion of “internet tough guy”. Its ok I understand its tough being you. peace bro.
Ok…now we’re in disaster territory. We just caught the Giants ant the wrong time, everything going right for them, just as we caught the Blue Jays at the right time and everything went right for us.
Chipper hurts this team by playing hurt. Sometimes they need to just suck it up and let Chipper heal no matter if he says he can go or not. Happens every year that he rushes injuries and ends up with a nagging injury.
For the record Diaz/Anderson are on pace to have 91 RBI’s combined. They are a very servicable combination in left. Schafer and Francouer are ruining this team. AT LEAST ONE HAS TO GO. Try something different….anything different.
Jordan Schafer has no business batting in the bigs, right now, folks; pure and simple. He seems to idolize Jeff Francoeur’s approach at the plate, and this team can ill-afford two such guys in the lineup, right now.
Wow, I mean, I realize the team’s options are limited, but good grief, there has to be a way to sit him, send him down, put Dias and Garrett in the lineup at the same time til we figure something better out.
The more this season plays out, the more signing Glav and Kawakami (who’s actually a quality #3 or #4 at this point, really) instead of going after Ibanez looks foolhardy. Yeah, pitching woes, 2008, yada yada yada; but we over-did it, in retrospect, and that power bat we’re lacking is RAKING for the Philthies.
The good news is, nobody’s running away with the NL (L)East, so the sense of ‘urgency’ isn’t there, but I have serious doubts we’ll be able to hover around .500 through July with Schafer showing NO signs of actually learning anything about his approach at the plate, and with Francoeur just being, well, Francoeur. We need better out of their slots in the lineup. And I think in the next 30-45 days.
OMG, we are about to be swept by the Lowly Giants, I mean, seriously!!!! How the hell does Randy ‘I am 80 something years old, but can still get Braves hitters out’ Johnson only give up 1 run in 6 innings. He looked like Cy Young out there. And there goes our boy O’Flaherty finally joining the rest of the pen in being mediocre.
cabravesfan, they are a popular item down here in Mobile, especially during Mardi Gras (and Mobile is the true home of Mardi Gras). It’s two chocolate (or banana, or vanilla) soft cookies with a marshmallow center – think of a jumbo Oreo cookie with a marshmallow middle.
DOB you’re around the players all the time, does Jeff Francoeur really not get that swinging at the first pitch, particularly when it’s not your pitch, is a bad idea. Chipper or some of the other vets don’t rag him about that? Is he trying to get released on purpose?
Can’t we all say Wren trading Josh is bad in hindsight? If Josh was hitting .240 and GA was tearing it up no one would be saying anything. Almost every single one of you wanted Schafer to start, and that had nothing to do with GA. The fact that the Braves didn’t want both Josh Anderson and Schafer on this team lead to them signing him. Get Over it.
if the braves do make some trades, it needs to be for the future. Start rebuilding the minors with guys who have potential. If Francoeur is traded to the Red Sox, we need to get 1-2 minor league guys in return. Same thing if they trade one of our excess starters.

Sure – we can, but hindsight isn’t going to do us a dang bit of good. Whining about it isn’t either. What’s done is done. This is Frank and Bobby’s mess to clean up, which means it won’t likely get done any time soon…..
Hey, look at it this way, at least when we lose and the Giants win, we will have matching records, isnt that cute?? Finally 3 games above .500 again and we get swept by the Giants to put us right back at .500, this team is so pathetic.
This team is getting to the point where it’s almost beyond fixing. Same stuff every night and no changes in sight. Very depressing. We did find a position for GA, permanent pinch hitter to replace Norton.
You do realize that Josh Anderson has a pathetic .680 OPS this season, right? You also know that he’s posted an even more pathetic .506 OPS so far in May, right? Sure, he has 9 SB, but that’s really the only positive when you look at his stats. What do you think is so great about him?
cabravesfan, Necromancr is right – an RC cola is a must with a Moon Pie. RC is big down here, too. On New Year’s, Mobile has the “Moon Pie Drop,” sort of like a southern version of the ball in New York City….
Cabraves, moon pies are nothing to write home about. Theyre cakey marshmellowey big cookie sort of things. I’ll send you one if youd like to try it lol.
This is the longest game ever. Just a few Minutes short of 3 hrs and 2 innings left. Good lord im going to bed. Night yall.
Did you not read my post? sheesh obviously not…it was basically telling people to get over it. If you did I’m sorry I blew up on you but the way you responded it doesn’t seem like it.
BigMacAttack…..problem is, if the Braves send Francoeur to Boston, somebody HAS to play RF for us once he’s gone, so just getting prospects isn’t the answer.
Doc Holliday….I’m fully aware what Schafer’s still here for; but his defense was never in-question. I guarantee you if Frank Wren could go back and undo the Anderson trade to Detroit, though, knowing what he knows now, he’d have started the year platooning ‘em both. Josh Anderson was our OF insurance policy “if” Schafer wasn’t ready.
Let me say this again, Chipper is hurting this team by playing hurt. Not sure what Bobby is watching, but Chipper should have been out of this game innings ago.
Jordan was tearing the cover off the ball in spring training, while the other candidates for CF were either off playing in the World Baseball Classic or just not hitting or playing as well. He earned the job, and like most rookies not named Pujols, he’s struggling. I think we could all live with a rookie struggling if we were getting anything from RF and more consistency from LF.
bravos2249, my mistake. I admit I sort of “breezed” over the first sentence, mainly because like you, I’m tired of reading about how we shouldn’t have traded Anderson. I’ll be a bit more careful in reading next time.
Chipper should not have gotten the chance to get 2, 3 or 4 strikeouts today. He’s looked hurt at the plate all night long. He was going to have a tough time getting to first even if he hit the ball.
You know, moon pies are made here in Chattanooga. I worked there for like two weeks and it is grueling working the assembly line for 7 hours straight. I had Chipper Jones type feet after that week. And yeah, they’re not that tasty to me either.
At this time it doesnt matter who we trade for, he (they) will end up playing as bad as anybody in this lineup………..
BTW, AJ is hitting above .290 for texas………….wasnt he supposed to be done for his career? Does playing nder bobby has anything to do with it…………..just think about it.
WTH, we all should have known we were going to lose tonight, I mean, look at the stupid lineup that Bobby put up, PRADO BATTING CLEANUP AND DIAZ HITTING FIFTH?!?!?! Yeah, thats a lineup that strikes fear into opposing pitchers. I dont give a rats arse who is on the mound, we should have had McCann in there along with Kelly. This was a weak lineup and it showed.
No problem. I mainly typed that…the first one about the trade….cause it’s last and I’m irritated. No problem, I just wanted to make sure you knew what I meant, lol. And that I probably knew you skimmed over it.
I dare any of you Fat A$$ Cox supporters to tell me why Chipper is still in the game. What?? Did KJ show up late to a meeting and you REFUSE to play him because of principal while the NL batting champ is playing his way to a 30 day DL stint instead of 15. This is the worst MLB game I have ever watched. From the crossups from the pitcher and all the WPs. The three stooges act by Ross , The tweedle dee and tweedle dumb show in CF and RF. To top it off Flobby Cox has our franchise player trying to pull a Wllis Red in May. JESUS CHRIST BOBBY COX SUCKS
NEVER GET & KEEP MOMENTUM – not in an inning (always give back runs they score when trying to come back) and not in a season as 3 games above 500 has now been successfully blown.
MFin04, yeah like six years ago. Me and my brother got the job through a temp. service, and it wasn’t that interesting for me. Of course, we had the worst job of most of the other workers there. I guess there are worse jobs though.
At this time it doesnt matter who we trade for, he (they) will end up playing as bad as anybody in this lineup………..
I agree. Failure is contagious and so is winning. It’s going to take a several player change. Hopefully that change will come from players playing to their potential.
I want a moonpie too. We have Strawberry and Jalapeno(yes it works) flavored moonpies just down the street. 50 cent for pure joy!
cabravesfan, Moon Pies are quite dry (but good with an RC), and RC (like Moon Pies) is a southern thing, so good luck finding some. You might be able to go to each of their websites and order them. I love Cheerwine (a cherry soda mainly sold in North Carolina) and I order it online and have a case shipped to me every now and then.
braves70, thanks for posting the Moon Pies link. I was certain you could order them online, but since they’re quite plentiful here, I can drive down to the store and grab one instead….

And that I probably knew you skimmed over it.

who are the idiots still defending Jordan’s defensive skills???? Broke the wrong way and let a soft liner drop again.
What a bust for an outfield!
If Chipper didn’t have his arsenal of injuries, how would pitchers ever get him out?

They also go pretty good with chocolate milk. Something about chocolate milk helps enhance the flavor.
Eventhough there’s not much flavor to begin with.

I would bet my home, car and dog that we wont score a single run and that we will win next game by a margin of 8 runs…………wanna bet?
This season is 2008 all over again but now we have pitching and less offense (tex).
Pete Orr and Woodward fit this team perfectly, arent they available……….invite them to the dance.

There are worse jobs.
For 4 days last summer, I cleaned porta toilets til I got a more respectable job.
I saw some things and smelled some things I wish I never came across!
Note that it was the summer. You could only imagine the smell!

braves70, thanks for posting the Moon Pies link. I was certain you could order them online, but since they’re quite plentiful here, I can drive down to the store and grab one instead….
