abwright: Whatever happened to diving catches in the outfield?
That went out the door when Andruw left. You can’t ask these wussies to lay out for a ball. They might get hurt.
I am so surprised that norton did not get a hit…
May 25th, 20096:20 pm
Need KJ to stay hot
we need base runners. then for mccann to get a huge hit. but im only hoping that will happen
Javy’s day ended when he tried to get the out at second on a sac bunt in the 5th. He should have thrown to 1st. You can’t blame Bobby for Javy’s ill-advised throw.
WOW – That was a foot outside
May 25th, 20096:21 pm
That was ball 4!
What the heck is this ump looking at today!?!
Three good outings in a row by Bennett. What did our pitching coach do to fix him?
DOB…alot of good questions out there still unanswered. What do you even do during the games man? Pick up the slack here dude.
I’m out. Again. I love my job, I love my job, I love my job, I love my job. And Bobby loves me:)
If Greg Norton is a specialist, he’s the worst one i’ve ever seen.
Is Jerry Mills on the Giants’ payroll?
2 non-calls on batter interference against the Giants….Now he has an Eric Gregg sized strike zone.
Man! Is It Me or has anyone Noticed The drop off in Enthusiasm From Joe and Boog as Compared to last yesterday…?
Cheese-Whiz…The Braves Played with their emotion as much as they did mine
Waaaaaaah, waaaaaaah, waaaaaaah.
It’s all the ump’s fault.
Umpires need to be fined and held accountable for missing blatantly obvious calls.
May 25th, 20096:22 pm
Cox leaving ‘em in too long again. Ball four called a strike.
Well, I’ll concede this loss, barring a miracle comeback. Maybe playing two good pitchers will get them to play better.
I understand that Schafer can’t be sent down, but how about a day off? Are AT&T and Chase just too big for an inexperienced Center Fielder?
Chop It Up All-star
Wow, we really do have some pretty slow guys on this team.
May 25th, 20096:23 pm
The Braves are like the Hawks these days, they get no RESPECT.
what really sucks is that timmey will be on the mound for the giants tomorrow. but we have hit team’s aces well, or at least good enough to win, this year. (santana, halladay etc.)
Dang…hard enough to score with the offense the way it is. Don’t need the dang ump calling strikes that are a foot outside.
May 25th, 20096:24 pm
MFin04 What the heck is this ump looking at today!?!
I’ve been wondering that…pretty much through this whole game.
How do you not call interference on Uribe for hopping in front of McCann? I’ll give Molina the benefit of the doubt on his (very hard…but I’m gonna do it) and say he fell…but Uribe hopped…he so hopped…
And that first play at the plate? He was out…
Seriously Javy made a bad throw but other players are suppose to tell him what base to throw to, if they said 1st then it is his fault if they said throw it to 2nd…then.
May 25th, 20096:25 pm
The Grand Slam boy is in.
Blaming the umpires is loser talk.
The Braves have played well lately, hopefully today is just a blip.
May 25th, 20096:26 pm
Your 6:23pm post is my point.
They seem to play good enough against the teams better pitchers.
Cruz will look nice between Chipper and Mac. Betcha that’s who’ll we’ll end up with. Morton/Frenchy/Locke or Hernandez sounds more than fair to me.
DOB looks like this guy was right huh.
its over guys. braves are dead. have no fire in them. offense cant come from behind. — MP31 at 5:40 pm
ATL 2 SF 5 at 6:26PM
McCann very easily could have decided to “trip” over Uribe on that play. He didn’t do it. You can’t rely on the ump to give you an interference call. You have to make him give it to you.
Dammit, Buddy Carlyle is in = FATALITY! for all the old school Mortal Kombat fans out there!
I do think this could be just a blip. A bit of lag from the flight at night and playing a day game.
May 25th, 20096:27 pm
Nothing good usually comes out of throwing to second to get the force out. More things can go wrong then right.
Can this team please score 4 runs?!?
havn’t we won 12 of 17
who’ll we’ll…i’m not that dumb, believe me.
That looked like a candidate for the LOL Frenchy files.
In all fairness they can only be blamed on 1 run. The second interference call that wasn’t made, lead to a run. Other than that nothing can be blamed on them.
May 25th, 20096:28 pm
Well i guess ol Frenchfry really is the golden boy, hell that damn punk can’t even lay out on a catchable foul!!! PUNK earn your damn paycheck wothless PUNK
With the game out of reach, BC puts in Buddy.
I agree though you have to make contact for it to be called defiant interference…step into him.
Steve from OH
Nah, we suck, man. Don’t mean squat. Can’t be jubroni teams. Awful. Fail.
May 25th, 20096:29 pm
If you want to play the blame game….I do believe this game can be blamed on the offense only scoring 2 runs so far.
In the words of the Zen Perfect Master: “Patience.”
Vazquez had a bad outing but everyone is due one everyone now and then. Schafer is out there because this is San Francisco and there is no defensive replacement for him. His struggles wouldn’t seem as bad if we had a better offense but we don’t. Not having two of your best hitters hurt so it was nice to get that sweep against the Blue Jays but I knew it would be hard to keep it up without those two guys. Tough assignment tomorrow with Lincecum. Hopefully we can get something off of him.
I hate to blame a loss (if this does in fact become a loss) on the umpire.
After the first interference non-call, which led to a run, B. Mac had some words for the home plate umpire. Perhaps that interference could have been missed, but the second one was so blatant that it wasn’t funny.
Now, we have a close call at the plate (which doesn’t get called…ultimately leads to two runs). Then, a ball 4 to KJ which ultimately leads to an out.
On occasion a bad call affects a game (non-call at third to Beltran). But, over 162, those rarely affect a campaign. This home plate ump, however, seems to be going out of his way to make his point to the Braves (don’t question my calls).
I suspect that BMac is wisely “shutting up” so that, hopefully, this does not carry over into the rest of the series.
Tomorrow: Medlan vs. Lincecum.
May 25th, 20096:30 pm
I would not have laid out on that, but it was catchable. Now the hit that scored a run was catchable too….dive b**** dive. lol
Yep….Braves have won 12 of 17 and also scored 4 runs or more in 12 of 17. They’re 11-1 when doing so and 1-4 when they score less than 4 with the lone win Friday against Halladay.
I reeally don’t think Gorkys (?) could be as bad as Jordan and if Francoeur – well —- Just shoot him
Seems to be pretty clear ha cannot develop under Pendleton and cannot control his urges.
That Fcking!!! Winn, He has killed us over his career!!!!
How is Buddy still on the team?
Boy most of you guys are really bipolar! First Javy is awesome, the best thing since sliced bread and now he’s garbage! Then we can’t score any runs our AWfense is the worst in then we start scoring and we all of a sudden have some of the most clutch hitters in the game! STOP WHINNING!!!
Now that little SOB Schitfer brains is out of position!!! Geez this outfield is PATHETIC…
Game’s over. Let’s get ready for the reigning Cy Young award winner tomorrow.
May 25th, 20096:31 pm
Well I’m waiting for somebody besides DOB to point out that our all-star catcher was at fault for both of those plays at home. The announcers were begging us to vote for Brian for the ASG. Well I refuse to vote for a catcher that refuses to make even the slightest effort to block the plate. Shoot, he wouldn’t really have had to block it, even if he’d just get his damn leg across the line it would have made the difference. Maybe the ump missed the first call, but if Brian had been in better position there wouldn’t have been any doubt about the tag. Sure he may get run over and he may get hurt and we could lose a key bat, but that’s the reason you get a tough guy as a catcher and Brian’s not tough.
Even earlier in the game Brian should have been calling for Vazquez to make the throw to first on that bunt – the replay didn’t show McCann saying anything and the announcers didn’t either. And while I’m at it, they make a big deal about his blocking a ball in the left-hand batters box – hell, he was already out there calling for the breaking pitch in the dirt, he didn’t even have to move to his right. I guess you might say that I’m not a big fan of McCann’s defensive abilities. Give him another position to play cause he’s going to be a liability behind the plate and we need his bat.
Hey Chop Chop or should I say “Chump Chump”? Cram it up your cram hole!!
Its okay to criticize players on this blog but when an umpire blows at least 3 obvious calls no one can bring it up?!?!?
I think you’re the baby.
DOB, is Bobby going with the rookie, Medlan tomorrow against Lincecum?
May 25th, 20096:32 pm
Still doesn’t explain why Frenchy is out there. If a teams going to have a CF hitting around and below .250 you can’t have that same type of hitter in RF, with let’s be honest sub-par defense. If you can’t dive or jump against the wall to catch a ball in the big leagues that’s just sad.
Look folks it aint the Ups fault it’s BOOBy Kooks dang fault for not pinch hitting for Schitfer brains with the bags full!!!!
May 25th, 20096:33 pm
I’m with you…that second one was as blatant as a Francoeur strikeout.
That ump must be holding his own over something…
At least we won’t have Meals behind the plate the rest of the series.
May 25th, 20096:34 pm
Does he need glasses to catch?
how bout we trade frenchy or shafer to sportsouth for brian (gained a few pounds) jordan!!!
I believe we are about to hit our stride like the old days. we’ve won 12 of 17 and honestly have 3 spots in the line up that are killing us. we get them hitting even a little and it’s on.
Seriously, how much more of Francoeur must Wren and Cox put us all through? Pull the f-ing plus on this failed experiment already!
Has Medlen figured out how to throw a strike since last game? Bases loaded hitting the pitcher comes to mind? Hope the kid figured that crap out, we are going to need him to come up BIG tomorrow.
Best laugh I’ve had all day. Thanks.
May 25th, 20096:35 pm
I just want to SLAP the Hell out of Bobby Cox!!!
David Price is making his first start of the season.
He put runners on 2nd & 3rd in the 1st with no out, then struck out the next 3 batters. 0-0, 2nd inning in Cleveland.
WHy do you walk a player to get to one whose 3-3 today?
May 25th, 20096:36 pm
A useless piece of trivia…Buddy Carlyle made his Braves debut in San Francisco and struck out Barry Bonds on three pitches.
Game is over
Joebrave…….slap bobby in his mouf?
Oh…how times have changed.
Look at Buddy!
Nice going Buddy and Bobby.
Wow, you just felt like it was a matter of time with Buddy pitching.
AW Godammit that fkng Carlyle
Buddy has become a home-run provider of frightening magnitude.
Like I said, with the game out of reach, Bobby puts in Buddy who gives up a homer per inning.
It certainly didn’t help Vazquez to have no run support until after he gave up some runs; seriously, that has to affect a pitchers demeanor to think that you have to be perfect since your team rarely scores…
Send Shafer down, please….and diory hasn’t gotten off to a good start…man, what is up with our minor league prospects?
Get Bennett Out NOW!!!! WTF is It With this Guy?
Buddy’s getting better…..only 3 run HR this time!
May 25th, 20096:37 pm
Damn ump gave up a tater. Damn him.
In case you need to know, “The Land of the Lost” marathon is still on Sci-Fi.
Pure Genius from the HOFer. Let’s walk Lewis to get to the guy who’s 3-3 today. Brilliant!!!
That ball wasn’t hit all that hard… didn’t make the bay.
R U Fcking Serious….!!!!
This Is Embarassing!!!!!
It’ll take a big miracle, which isn’t likely.
Here’s to tomorrow
Game Over. Braves have to do something with this Middle Relief group. They all put games out of reach more often than not.
Buddy, Bennett, Jo-Jo, all just not working for this team.
Buddy Carlyle would be a great batting practice pitcher for my little league team, any one have his number???
Javy is not garbage – and we are not biploar, just fickled!…… lol Javy ran out of steam. You could see it in the last inning, but Bobby send him back our at 90+ piptches. So who is to blame, Javy? I don’t think so.
May 25th, 20096:38 pm
Wow…The Bobby loves Buddy tandem strikes again…
So much for the ’surging Braves’…get some more damn ballplayers or be out of the race by July.
But Buddy is doing great –choke choke choke – not to be considered bipolar
We talk baseball, other sports, music, movies, BBQ and whatever (except politics or religion)
