“When you load bases with none out, you don’t really want Francoeur and Schafer to be two of the next four guys coming up.”
Which is why I hope the Braves are furiously scouring for someone, anyone that can make consistent contact with runners on. Schafer needs to get his hitting straight in AAA, and Frenchy needs to be on the next train out of town. Heck, I’d take a chance on Jim Edmonds in CF right now. He couldn’t be much worse than Schafer, right?
Bobby Cox is the only manager in the majors that lets Schafer hit in that spot. By all rights, Chipper hits in that spot and Garrett Anderson goes in defensively in left with Francoeur in center. Un-friggin-believable. And you guys think this team has a chance to make the playoffs? Cox is the playoff killer.
I fart in schafers general direction
May 25th, 20096:04 pm
So, I know Schafer & Francouer were once deemed the new Braves’ golden boys & it’s tough to cut ties…but how long do you keep them in the starting lineup or even on the squad? Until the offense officially fades into nothingness? Until they cost us a few more big innings on the way to a few more losses?
Situational hitting is going to kill this team all year long. Braves couldn’t get guys over in the Toronto series and can’t score runners without hits in this series. Bobby needs to do a lesson on the sac fly. It’s sad when double plays will score runs and we can’t even hit into a double play!!! Bobby might want to pinch hit with Chipper for Schafer or Frenchy in that situation, they are that bad.
Ymir The Frost GIANT
Hahahaha !!! pathetic. you can’t even score when our stupid pitchers try to let you. What a murderer’s row the last 5 in your line up are. I wasn’t worried at all. What, you guys have scored about half your runs on bases loaded walks. Other teams have to spot you a few just to give you a chance.
May 25th, 20096:05 pm
you would think that scoring two runs and cutting the lead to only one would be a good thing….
but when you blow chances to tack on more runs it kills all of your momentum. i hope im wrong but i could easily see us not scoring another run the rest of the game. it should be tied at least and yet its not. i guess you could look at it as we were fortunate it enough to get 2 runs.
but back to frenchy, its AAA time or flat out releasing him time…. dude wont succeed in this city i think thats quite obvious. its time for a change…for us and him. cut your losses while you can and lets get a real outfielder. although we could have done this in the offseason by signing dunn. if you dont sign anderson and glavine and take frenchy to arb hearings then you have about 6 to work with and surely you can come up with 4 more… i posted this on mlbtraderumors, but what could have been….
would have been nice. i eluded to this earlier but now we are going to not only have to pay big money for an outfielder but we are going to have to part with some prospects, and you all know that our farm system is not in the best of shape right now. frenchy/wren have put us in a bad spot….
Please, Francouer has to go.
That Francoeur at bat was bad. Brian, Casey, and Jeff were the veterans with the bases loaded while Diory and Schafer were the rookies. Casey and Brian find a way to get a run home while Jeff goes up there and strikes out and looks like he has no idea what he’s doing. Bases loaded, nobody out, you gotta know who is in trouble. I mean you would think after playing the game with someone like Chipper who is one of the best hitters and having Brian McCann who is young and a great hitter something would rub off.
Couldn’t agree more. Words well spoken.
May 25th, 20096:06 pm
Schafer is by no means in the same situation as Frenchy. This is Frenchy’s 5th season and he looks worse today than he ever has. Schafer is learning and makes league minimum
Chop It Up All-star
Stick a fork in Vasquez…he’s done.
Where’s the hook??
J.Schafer(ATL): 142 AB, .211/.331, 2 HR, 8 RBI, 51 SO, 1 SB, 1 CS
J.Anderson(DET): 80 AB, .263/.314, 0 HR, 9 RBI, 12 SO, 9 SB, 1 CS
MFin04 is back with all of his/her negativity.
Nice bobble Jeffy boy! Take javy OUT! He looks terrible today.
Hello again, denizens. I see Mark Bradley is going for “most clicks” today.
The Inning Part Two?
May 25th, 20096:07 pm
Co-Sign, Francoeur Has to Go, I’m tired of his act…He needs more seasoning in Gwinnett as well…
I just said it a few days ago… if Vazquez didn’t retire the leadoff hitter in the 6th, we HAD to go get him. He didn’t retire the leadoff hitter, and BC didn’t go get him, and here we are. BC STILL hasn’t brought the hook. This is F’ing ridiculous. If we lose the game 3-4, it’ll be Bobby’s loss.
Giving up 3 runs and most likely more to this lineup is absolutely ridiculous as well.
May 25th, 20096:08 pm
Booooooo! He was OUT!
Bobby needs to get his ass out there. He was out by a frickin mile.
Schafer needs to be sent down to AAA and Gregor Blanco needs to be sent up. All Schafer does is strike out! He cant even make contact with the ball!
We’re going to have to see that on replay, but it looks like the home plate umpire just gave the Giants another run.
get rid of francine NOW! he f*cking sucks.
Can we start Lowe and Vazquez in the OF instead of Schaffer & Francoeur? They have more RBIs and hiots.
YODA HARD AT WORK
Matt Holliday you do not need. Big right handed bat, Braves do not want. Three time all-star cannot help. Three time silver slugger doesn’t a winner make.
Jeff Francoeur you will keep. He is the golden child. This you will obey.
Hell of a slide there.
May 25th, 20096:09 pm
Mac’s having a hell of a day behind the plate today.
Good throw, great slide. I thought Mac came out a little too far to get it. Might have been better off directly in front of plate, though he might also be concussed right now.
Anyway, great slide.
That was an out! McCann brushed him.
May 25th, 20096:10 pm
That was a spot where you would have pinch hit for Schafer if we had a legitimate CF back-up.
The ONLY WAY he was safe is if BMAC missed the tag. Which by reply shows that the tag was successful. What a load of crap.
Jerald I agree totaly we don even have a back up center firlder I just think that Ole BC didnt want to hurt little Jordans feeling he is sensative ya know. By the way Frenchy would have thrown out lewis if he was in center if he would have even tried with his arm.
Again, if we lose this game 3-4 or 3-5, this loss should be hung squarely on Bobby Cox. Should have brought the hook after the leadoff guy reached.
Could someone look up how many times Schafer strikes out when he starts an at-bat with an 0-1 count? I’m willing to bet it’s in the 90th percentile.
Steve from OH
BlahBlah, (No Offense) but As Much as K-Fer Sucks, You have to be on something to think that G. Blanco is the Answer
Rob from SC
May 25th, 20096:11 pm
Schafer does need to go to Triple A. I was against is but after today I agree.
In case you are wondering about how Bobby Cox feels about Schafer, Cox was on the radio pregame show and he was simply beaming with man love at how Schafer stood in and took a walk yesterday. Of all the things to get mushy about and that’s all he could come up with. He actually said that Schafer had a great at bat. Cox absolutely does not give a diddly squat about this team winning. If he did, he would give up on wiping some of these guys a$$es that don’t deserve to be up here.
Like I said, toast on the coast !! 4 runs will be more than enough ! Vazquez sux !
Pull Javy NOW!!!!
Francoeur should have caught that
May 25th, 20096:12 pm
Getting too close.
Damn Bobby, how many more you gonna let him give up?
This one is getting out of hand.
Well it was obvious Javy lost in last inning but Bobby sees it differently.
Schafer is swinging at a ton of bad pitches lately
Tomahawkin, I must be on something because I right now, I’d consider replacing Schafer with a garbage can.
Only The Braves Would Make The Giants AWFense look like the Yankees…
Whatever happened to diving catches in the outfield?
Do we have anyone who can actually throw TO homeplate and not up the line?
The Ole HOFer must be takin a nap not to pull Javy after 1st and 3rd with no out. Stupid decision.
For the love of God, what is it going to take to get Wren and Cox to do something proactive about this piece of shi* lineup. Get Schafer sent down already and either bring up somebody else or make a friggin trade. So F-ing sad to watch a team with such talent on the pitching staff (esp after Hansen arrives and Hudson comes back) to blow it cause they got their’re finger stuck up there ass…somebody light a fire under these guys!!!
May 25th, 20096:13 pm
I was beginning to think the bullpen guys forgot to get on the plane yesterday.
Jerald Holcombe, LOL
Not a good outing for Vazquez.
Vazquez is soo darn inconsistent. Can’t get out of jams. Just awful. Bobby needs to see some of this coming though. Vazquez has been very hittable the last two innings and now the scoreboard shows it.
Good ole Bobby, if he knows nothing, he’s knows timing.
What happened to Bobby’s temper? Two inteference situations on stolen bases and the tag at the plate and nada from our HOF super ejected boss
Javy got knocked around by the worst offense in baseball. Just not his day today.
May 25th, 20096:14 pm
Wow… glad Bobby could make it. Must have been watching a different game up ’til now. But just so long as he makes the pitching change before one of the worst offensive teams in baseball posts a 7-run inning on us… that’ll be fine.
If Francoer of Schafer do their job though, Chipper pinch hits for Javy and maybe they don’t score 2 more runs. See how Fredo and Schafer are f’n up the team with their minor league hitting?
Rob, LATELY? Schafer has been swinging at bad pitches since day one. He is overmatched.
Frenchy isn’t a ball player…he’s an Ath-A-lete…..
Somebody on the team needs to teach Brian how to throw a hissy fit. Not one intense enough to get tossed from the game, but enough to show he felt he made the play. He needed to have thrown a couple already when he was interfered with, then just now with that tag at the plate. Phantom or not, it may help him get the call the next time.
JD…(No Offense) You Wanna Challenge Me again when I called the AWFense was gonna lose this one…?
May 25th, 20096:15 pm
Back down 3 runs, need a miracle.
Sorry bloggers, my aching knee’s keep me from making too many trips to the mound.
Since Lincecum and Johnson are good pitchers, maybe they’ll Santana/Halladay em and take the win those ways.
What A F’d Up Inning…! I could Understand if this happened to the Jays but it’s the Fckin Giants, Cheese-Whiz…!
Think this ump hates us, but I’m not gonna go all Mark Bradley on him…at least not now…
Might have been better off directly in front of plate, though he might also be concussed right now.
That wouldn’t be any fun. This game has, um, “stunk” enough as it is…
Question: Who on this team cannot, to save their life, hit the high inside fastball?
May 25th, 20096:16 pm
Fat a$$ Bobby always 2+ runs late in his bull pen moves. If he would have pitch hit for schafer he would have done a double switch forcing him to make a pitching change to start the 6th. Its funny how BC always makes himself look bad for never making the strategic moves that are anyway shape or form unconventional.
Bobby lost them another one…thanks big guy!
do you think the offense has another rally in them??? I dont think so
May 25th, 20096:17 pm
Even with all this crap so far today, the Braves have to find a way to win one of these games “only” being down 5-2.
Okay, geez damn, how long is it going to last, how much more time do these two WORTHLESS LAZY_ARSED SOB”s need before they are no longer tarnishing a Braves Uniform??????
That damn Schafer, and The worthles no good piece of dog feces Francan’t!!!! these two can’t get out of their own way, and with the bases loaded BOOBY should have his ass fired on the spot for letting that little turd hit!!!!
“Javy got knocked around by the worst offense in baseball. Just not his day today.”
Yeah, but he should have only given up 3 runs today. Inexcusable F’ing brainless managing on Bobby’s part to leave him in after the leadoff guy reached. It was painfully obvious that he just didn’t have it at that point. After the leadoff guy, we had a lefty hitter at the plate, and a lefty up in the pen. That was the time to make the move.
But if not then, the move should have been made after the next hit… or the one after that.
I’m not calling BC an idiot, because I don’t think he is, but his decision making today WAS idiotic. What the F’ing name of all that is holy was he thinking leaving Vazquez in that long??
Norton up, 1 out.
Unknown, If the AWFense had not come out flat today and spotted Jazy 2 runs early…
We’d be leading right now… Javy was nasty early on…It just seems like he gets unraveled from the pressure of having no run support….
Good throw, great slide. I thought Mac came out a little too far to get it. Might have been better off directly in front of plate (DOB)
not the first time, he has a bad habit of doing that.he won’t stay home. the ball is coming faster that you can catch it and move you body the rest of the way. He is not a very good fundamental receiver…but I’ll let him stay on the team….maybe as Ross’s backup and a PHer?
May 25th, 20096:18 pm
Bobby Cox has never been the problem.
Ron in SC:
Where the hell you been all year? You must be as blind as Cox!
This is starting to look just like 2007. The Braves split a 4 game series in SF before going to AZ to lose 2 outta 3. That was pretty much when that season ended. Let’s hope history doesn’t repeat itself. I really don’t want to pay money to see the Braves get their butts kicked by AZ again.
Frenchy could be nice traid bait to package with Schafer, both are doing horrible, but Schafer has room to improve; hasnt played above AA. Frenchy, however, has played 3 big league seasons and has just gotten worse. Trade him for someone who can actually play, please.
DOB – do you have any sense from the brass that they’ve considered sending Schafer down? Aside from the immediate problem that he’s basically a black hole in the lineup at this point, I’d think that being marched out there every day to get destroyed by major league pitching would erode anyone’s confidence, no matter how confident or talented said person may be.
what are talking about Rob from SC?
frenchy has to protect his money maker. i mean, what would happen if jeff was called back by sports illustrated with a cover spot entitled “The Bum”?
May 25th, 20096:19 pm
Damn Norton, get that piano off your back.
man this sucks.
Now those two can’t hit kids are rubbing off on Norton!!!
Speaking of slow…….there’s Norton.
I dont care who we get, but Francour has to go. He’s a walking stinkbomb on the diamond. braveshater
Your absolutely right Bravos229-Mcann blew the last inning, lets hope he can make up for it. braveshater
Mcann is pretty good at hitting, but his defense sucks! braveshater
This guy sucks. He’s a disgrace to the number 7. braveshater
Braveshater – I think Soul Train is on channel 5 now, Why don’t you watch it and quit putting yourself through this torture.
Does The AWFense have it in Them
No as a matter of fact Hell No…
This has to be the Slowest team I’ve seen years, No F that That I’ve seen in my life
We talk baseball, other sports, music, movies, BBQ and whatever (except politics or religion)
