McCann looked scared when that ball hit the dirt, did not even look at ir
B-Macc WTF “Get in front of the damn ball enough of this O-lay Bullshyt!!!”
My Bad. I might not have worded that correctly, I meant the Braves moving into first place in the division while they were riding their current hot streak and the Mets and Phils were not exactly playing their best. I wasn’t talking about a trade move. Although I do agree that if they do it will be sooner than the deadline.
What I was referring to was the emotional and psychological lift that players feel, especially younger ones, when their team takes over first place. Adding a little more confidence and so called “swagger” to their play. I think it is important that the Braves get into first place now, even if it is only temporary, while the division is wide open. It would add a little vigor to the team and the fans. In a way sort of rekindle the winning attitude of the Braves franchise. First place could have that affect and help the team in the second half knowing that they were already there and are close in contention.
Chasing the lead from second or third place all year adds an extra level of grind to the season. It’s good to be out front a little too.
What do you think about that??
DOB — I believe that Capt Caveman was asking about the importance of the Braves making a move in the standings (ie, into 1st place in the NL East), rather than a player personnel move.
Does anyone else getting a bad feed from SportsSouth?
May 25th, 20095:07 pm
Is anyone else? Duh
Whew! Thank you Kotchman.
Pop up on the in-field. Another adventure. Kotchman makes the play this time.
Man, I get Scared Watching this Team on Pop-Up plays…lol
I’ll shut up now.
May 25th, 20095:08 pm
Where does this ballpark rank amongst your favorites DOB?
Come on…bear down Javy!!!
I was watching, and listening to that at bat, and Sutton called the remainder of the pitch sequence perfectly when the count was 0-2 (although he did not foresee the one that got away).
Ah-Lay, Javy…Rico!!!! Nice
Got out of it! Nice, Javy!
How BOUT Javy Vasquez!!!!!
May 25th, 20095:09 pm
Vazquez strikes out Brave-killer Fred Lewis to strand the runner on third. I stand by my 0-0 tie prediction!
Way to get out of trouble Javy. He’s the f’n man.
Hey Random, Thanks for that,
BTW, what do you think about that theory?
Eric from MO
Capt Caveman”What I was referring to was the emotional and psychological lift that players feel, especially younger ones, when their team takes over first place.”
Lets see the Marlins were in 1st and now how are they doing? Lets see the Mets were in 1st place and now how are they doing?
May 25th, 20095:11 pm
Couple parts of that inning made me think of vacuums…
Need to get that CS% back into the 30’s…27%, now, dangit…
May 25th, 20095:12 pm
I mean, folks, “Logan” just looked AWFUL on that swing.
May 25th, 20095:13 pm
ohhhh Schafer schafer schafer
Will Bobby let Schafer’s avg. slip below .200 before he benches him? what’s it going to take? He is looking worse by the day
Come on with the bat again Javy
Vasquez 56 pitches, 37 strikes through 4
Sanchez 56 pitches, 38 strikes through 4
worst outfield in baseball and we are 23-20-amazing
Schafer should not be playing baseball at this level right now. Wren should target an outfielder who can play all outfield spots. How about Maron Byrd? Francoeur for Byrd, straight up.
Steve from OH
May 25th, 20095:14 pm
This Sanchez guy looks like he’s murder on lefties…
Are you a big FourBucks (Starbucks) Junkie?
I despise that place I don’t know what the craze is with their overpriced products….
Give me some Coffee mixed with Bailey’s or a Slurpee anyday…
Andruw Jones and Jeff Francoeur
Will Bobby let Schafer’s avg. slip below .200 before he benches him? what’s it going to take?
Cox will give him a million chances. Trust us, we know.
That guy in the stands lol.
Vasquez hits the ball farther than Francoer.

Frenchy for Delmon Young or some kind of deal for Aaron Rowand, if they can make the money work out.
Well besides Joe and Boog kissin each others butts, not much else going on.
May 25th, 20095:16 pm
he makes work sanchez more than our profesional hitters. he saw like 8 pitches. schafer 3 and hernandez 2.
schafer would be cut from my church league softball team. Jesus he is green. BOUT THAT MOUF!!!
18 Wheels, Giants are having more offensive troubles than we are, so Rowand probably stays there. I like Cruz from Texas.
May 25th, 20095:17 pm
Man I was on the Vazquez “Hater-Nation” bandwagon when that trade was made but after 10 starts he has been more than advertised….!
With better run support he has 7 wins at least by now…
Now if the AWFense Can get to CY Sanchez…Come On!
May 25th, 20095:18 pm
Time to bring up Gorkys he could do no worse than Schafer
May 25th, 20095:20 pm
No sound on SportsSouth here, anyone else having issues?
I saw Delmon Young when he was playing for the … (wait for it) … AA Montgomery Biscuits, a few years ago. No doubt about his talent, some questions about his attitude — and, more importantly, his power. He doesn’t walk or hit the ball over the fence. Two MAJOR drawbacks.

I can’t believe with this being Memorial Day….that ESPN didn’t have slew full of games on today.
They do on Labor Day.

You mean Cychez.
OK, now that was obstruction.
McCann gets interfered with AGAIN! on the steal. What is up with this home plate umpire? Do you have to mug the catcher to get a call?
May 25th, 20095:23 pm
Another F’d Up Non-Call By The Umpiring Posse!
B-Macc!!!! Come On!!!
Another strike out here and then a pop up would be nice.
Another wild pitch. Runner at third with one out again.
This is not McCann’s finest hour.
Is it just me or is Bobby not arguing as much this year. How many times have we seen him come out on the field this year?
Javy Has not had his One inning of the game Yet, Not Good…! I think this inning might be it
May 25th, 20095:24 pm
You know Jaramillo might be pushing to get Frenchy since he is his star pupil and all.
May 25th, 20095:25 pm
have a day brian mcann….. jesus you would think they would practice throws to second base but i guess not. and one would also think they would practice balls in the dirt but i guess not….
It’s like DeJa Vu all over again.
I said yesterday Cox has become a chicken this year.
There’s your run.
May 25th, 20095:26 pm
I will Co-Sign, Wit Bobby being to Complacent this year, I guess he wants Chipper to do the arguing since hes the leader
I was Really suprised That Bobby C didn’t argue in that game at Philly with the C. Hamels Obstruction Non-Call
And then B. Myers Throwing at Kamakaze, WTF Bobby?
But You’re Right!
Left that straight fastball right over the plate. On a tee.
Umpire 1 —- Braves 0
Game still not over, still some time. *says with trying to be optimistic*
May 25th, 20095:27 pm
Bobby hasn’t been ejected this year, has he?
If you don’t walk Burriss, you’ve got to at least avoid giving him anything to hit there.
Thats the ballgame.
Did Mac call for that?
Bad play by Javy to try to get the runner at second on the bunt. Everybody safe.
May 25th, 20095:28 pm
Not surging now are they Dave, what a dumb play. Here is where the Braves show their true colors. A below average team!
Well This Javy’s 1 bad Inning…Not Good with this AWFense!
GO TO FIRST WHEN THEY’RE GIVING YOU AN OUT
Safe at second.
This is where Javy needs to reel it in and avoid the big(ger) inning.
Grilling in the back yard this afternoon, throwing b.p. to my one year old nephew who doesn’t realize that he should swing when I throw it to him. He waits for the ball to stop rolling, then races over to it, and starts getting all caveman on the ball, beating the ever living hell out of it with his bat while the ball lays helplessly on the ground, and while he yells “Bat! Ball!” over and over. Crazy lil’ bugger. Also listening to the broadcast, and have gotta say, this Powell guy is outstanding. Don and Jim seem to have good chemistry already. Not Skip and Pete obviously, but these guys’ll do just fine.
Impressive AB by Rowand.
Wouldve been three outs genius. Great Job Javy.
In the words of Marvin Gaye in “What’s Goin’ On,” when he sings, “Shafer’s not the answer.”
Oh, and not a wise move by Javy on going to second on the bunt. Could see that coming a mile away.
If Javy had taken the free out (or the umpire had made the correct call on that interference) Braves would be in the dugout now. Instead, the inning goes on.
Bobby needs to wake up the team, they are all still asleep on the plane.
May 25th, 20095:29 pm
Damn, you folks are incredible micro managers.
Man Braveshater, Are You a Melts Fan…? You are off da chain when it comes to Clowning D.O.B.
Mcann needs to work more his defense and stop spending so much time with Mr. Glass in the cage. Game Over folks.
3-0 Game Over!!! With This AWFENSE
here’s the blowup
OK, Game might be ove……:-(
May 25th, 20095:30 pm
Et tu, Edgar?
Just when you think the Braves are turning the corner, they go back to being that sub .500 team that cant hit. Mac is killing us definsively. And that is really the ballgame, we cant score 1 run much less 3.
Renteria gives the Giants two more runs. Wheels are coming off for Javy in this inning.
That inning is all Javy’s doing there. He screwed himself, but whatever.
Ymir The Frost Giant
This is “THE INNING” that Javy has every game. Bad decision on the bunt throw to second cost him.
Umpire 2 Giants 1 Braves 0
If Mcann could throw just a little bit, the inning would have been over. He’s the one to blame.
Wouldn’t have happened if Vasquez took the out.
I can’t figure why pitchers sometimes refuse to just take the out at first. They’re GIVING it to you!
McCann needs to use a kick save to stop those pitches in the dirt.
Is it just me thinking of Javy Lopez everytime I hear them say “Javy?” There’s only been one Javy on this team. “J-Lo” would be better for #33.
May 25th, 20095:31 pm
Contract aside, etc and what the Braves might need to do with swinging a deal….between Holiday and Dye….I’d rather have Dye than Holiday.
Holiday ain’t done **** for the A’s so far this season..which means, he can’t do much outside Launching Pad #2 called Coors Field.
Maybe the Braves somehow swing two deals…one for DeRosa and one for Dye. I still can’t understand why the Cubs dealt DeRosa to begin with. I know why the cut ties with Kerry Wood….but DeRosa….it just didn’t make sense to me.
How bout them them two added to the lineup?
…Wait…I thought Javier was supposed to be getting good run support?
We talk baseball, other sports, music, movies, BBQ and whatever (except politics or religion)
