Only the Braves Can F That play Up, Unreal…I’ve Seen 8 year old Little Leaguers Make that play
Oops, that’s a bad one, but no harm.
May 25th, 20094:30 pm
I know the red caps are in honor of Memorial Day so you gotta love that, but the blue uniforms with red blinged out caps is not a good look. Just sayin.
WTF was that Prado? Let the pitcher catch it!
I know in the outfield the center fielder has authority to call anyone off, who has this ability in the infield?
I’m Glad That F-Up didn’t happen with the bases juiced with two outs, We Would’ve got Clowned for that!
May 25th, 20094:31 pm
Prado called that fly ball, but I got the impression from looking at it that Vazquez lost it in the sun and really didn’t know which way to go. Something like that, at least.
Pretty sure its SS
Didn’t Chipper drop a popup in SF last year? I think he knocked it foul but still.
Steve from OH
It’s Mac’s job to call it.
I really Hate the fact that major League Pitchers don’t catch pop-ups to the mound I’ve never understood that logic…
May 25th, 20094:32 pm
If any series this season will most resemble the Dead Ball Era, it will be this one.
Boog sooo just stole that team error idea from Buck Showalter…he said the exact same thing a couple of nights ago on BSPN.
May 25th, 20094:33 pm
Southern California has better weather- 75 and sunny probably 10.5 months out of the year the other month and a half it’s either really hot or cold (and by “cold” i mean somewhere between 60-65)
T-Hawkin, as a pitcher I never liked it either. I know how to catch…
May 25th, 20094:34 pm
McCann’s AVG is up to .311!
With June coming up, I’m sure we’ll start to see some voting “progress reports” for the ASG. McCann better at least be in the top two…but I’m sure the .195 AVG and DL stint hurt him a little since that all started happing right when the voting began.
I’ll take that over weather here any day
Don Sutton would be appalled at the suggestion that pitchers dirty their hands with a fair pop-up. Those are for the … ugh … FIELDERS to handle, lol!
May 25th, 20094:35 pm
who else sees a one run game again today?
I love watching Javy pitch!!
LOL @ Lincecum
May 25th, 20094:36 pm
I don’t get that crap either. Even when it is right on the pitcher’s mound they want them to pass the buck to an infielder. It makes no sense. Are pitchers that inept that they can’t catch a can of corn pop-up?
Javy hitting the ball!
Vazquez: I’ll do it myself. Don’t worry about.
There We Go Javy! Stroking!!!!
and not so bad hitting today either!!
Stupid pitching by Sanchez.
Who needs the OF to produce? Javy hits a 3-2 pitch for a ground rule double.
A little more and it would’ve been a HR!
May 25th, 20094:37 pm
He does it all, that Vasquez fellow.
Is it a requirement that all Braves players and coaches have to listen to their favorite music on their Verizon wireless phones?
Wind is blowing out, could be a couple of long balls today
May 25th, 20094:38 pm
Steve From OH…
Co-Sign…! When I played I always caught it that T-ball fundamentals
vasquez says BOUT THAT MOUF!!!!!!
May 25th, 20094:39 pm
I wonder what pitchers hit when they are ahead in the count. Do they become marginal big-league bats in those situations?
Joe and Boog making me laugh out loud today.
DOB: thanks for another great travel story. There’s always one there for you, whether it comes to you, or you have to look for it, isn’t there?
A big THANKS and GOD BLESS to all our serving and have served millitary men and women out there, and their families too. Don’t know how my mom saw my dad off to 3 wars (II, Korean and ‘Nam) and kept her sanity with us 6 kids at home. (2 new ones after each homecoming!!)
Fly those flags today, sports fans………because WE CANN!
The catcher is the player who directs traffic in the infield
May 25th, 20094:40 pm
I hate the DH. There I said it, I’m officially a hater.
Pitchers aren’t supposed to catch pop-ups because they can trip coming off the mound That is something you learn early on in little league
May 25th, 20094:41 pm
0-2 Hitting With R.I.S.P…But lately that doesn’t matter because we have been hitting at our best 3rd time through the lineup…
you guys think they will think more about derosa now that infante is out and obviously Chipper is going to have one nagging issue or another?
They just replayed Kent’s No Hitter in 94
May 25th, 20094:42 pm
Is anyone else’s volume not working for SportsSouth on Comcast?? All other volumes are working besides SS.
Just give it an inning or two (or a pitch or two) and I bet it will change
My favorite rule in Major League Baseball is the DH rule.
Tim Hudson listens to Dave Matthews Band, not bad.
May 25th, 20094:43 pm
MLH, I’ve Seen Infielders trip over the mound as well, so its kind of a moot point…I was mainly bashing Major league pitchers becuase they learn how to catch pop ups at an early age as everyone knows…
I see the Braves getting tooled by Giants because of the good pitching and no Chippie and Yuni.
just one more reason to love Huddy
Eric from MO
May 25th, 20094:44 pm
Interested Observer I was wondering the same thing.
The giants aren’t as good so far this year as the jays, and we didn’t have chipper or yunel then either. At least the last couple games.
May 25th, 20094:45 pm
Dave Matthews Band…not a fan. And to quote Daniel Tosh- “If that upsets you, then you are whats wrong with America. Just because someone has an opinion different than yours, you feel personally attacked.”
May 25th, 20094:46 pm
THIS JUST IN!!!!!!………………….Im retarded
I look at our line-up today and just marvel that we are competitive this year.
Yeah I know. I was mainly talking about pitchers coming off the mound to catch a fly ball
Man Javy Is looking Good!
May 25th, 20094:47 pm
This is the first time I’ve seen what Brian Sabean looked like.
Where is Bobby’s Cox to hype up Nelson Cruz with all of this trade talk? Cruz just hit number 12 for Texas. He has 32 Rbi’s now and he also stole #8 today.
May 25th, 20094:48 pm
I was thinking a young Theo Epstein looking guy. ~_~
May 25th, 20094:49 pm
DOB: “… and the Braves will have a chance to keep making hay.” In the case of these ballplayers, a more appropriate euphemism would be “……..keep making lettuce,” don’t you think?
MLH, I know. It’s just something I’ve always liked to complain about…
Kentavo: So the Braves just beat Roy Halladay and a swept a series against Toronto without Chipper in the lineup (including two games without Yunel), but you don’t think they can beat the offensively-challenged Giants in a series that begins with Jonathan Sanchez (1-4, 4.74 ERA) and ends with 2009-era Randy Johnson (3-4, 6.26)?
Am I missing something?
May 25th, 20094:50 pm
MLH, Got Ya…
May 25th, 20094:51 pm
DOB and folks…just wanted to say Happy Memorial Day to all…and a little personal bio that is apropo to the day and the blog…your US government is currently footing the bill for my medical school education (along w/ a nice stipend that allows me to eat steak on occasion)…and for that reward I will serve a minimum of 4 years in the US Army as a physician…and since I will be specializing in Psychiatry…I will be encountering numerous veterans who deal with a whole host of psychological issues…not the least of which is PTSD. I promise all I’ll work to avoid the hassles of getting good treatment for these vets and as my dad likes to say “be part of the solution and not the problem”…ya’ll just can’t be giving me too much grief for my obsessive Braves fanatacism-when clearly I could be studying!!! Go Braves
Cut that meat!! Cut that meat!! Cut that meat!!
May 25th, 20094:54 pm
Yes, DOB, you are missing something. You’re missing the fact that we fare much worse against mediocre to bad teams than we do against good teams.
Osama bin Ladin
My favorite MLB statistic is the save.
William Tecumseh Sherman
May 25th, 20094:55 pm
Sorry Osama, I like RBIs.
May 25th, 20094:56 pm
Is it me, or does Francoeur rarely hit the ball hard anymore?
im afraid he might be right dob the braves just dont seem to get fired up when they play bad teams
May 25th, 20094:57 pm
Why is everyone freakin’ out? We’ve won 5 of 6 and flew cross country and are playing a day game in chilly Frisco. It’s only the 4th inning. Give the team a chance to acclimated. It’s not like Javy’s not holding down the fort in the meantime.
This Is It People
The Braves are 13-7 against teams that are over .500 this year…
While They are 11-12 against teams that have played less than .500 baseball this year, letting their guard down against the Jubroni teams
Proof that this team comes correct when the play the good teams of the league
So Far The team is thinking that the giants are gonna let their guard down to them
El Verdad: Frenchy hit the ball hard all four at bats Judy and I saw on Saturday night. He just can’t hit it hard over the fence anymore.
May 25th, 20094:58 pm
If there’s anyone not getting the game MLB Tonight is going to be on the MLB Network for the next 4 hours…they may do a live look in on the game.
Other than Javy’s double, the Braves look anemic today. They’re hitting the ball, but it doesn’t seem to be carrying at all.
Fortunately, the Giants look even more anemic.
If I had to call it now, I would say that this game ends in a 0-0 tie or else someone ends up walking in a run and it ends 1-0.
May 25th, 20094:59 pm
Dizam, I didn’t know that Edgar had 2100 hits…!
I hate you.
Chipper"You Know Who"Jones
Guys, my toe hurts, so bug off! I’ll play when I’m doggon good and ready!
May 25th, 20095:01 pm
Anyone remember that HR Renteria hit vs. the Mets in a day game back in 2007 to take a lead and eventually beat those hosers?…that was awesome
May 25th, 20095:02 pm
so whatever happened to derek from marietta i kindda miss his humoriosm lol
1st legit hit
I was more joking than serious. I think it’s more randomness than a trend.
Osama Bin Laden,
May 25th, 20095:03 pm
Throw out those stats if the braves lose 2 out of 3. Why throw them out in the 1st game of a road trip where they flew cross country? Sanchez is a decent pitcher btw. Your expectations are high. Ever seen a pitcher’s duel?
Molina fell into him making that swing, but don’t see how you could call interference, which is what Cox wants I’m sure.
Take a chill pill and Chillax man…
May 25th, 20095:04 pm
Should have been interference!
If This Games Boils Down To who runs the most and which team is more sucessful at running, then we got our work cut out 4 us….
Just kidding ~_~
I know he just fell.
Winn steals second on a bad throw by McCann. Molina (the batter) bumped McCann’s leg and impeded McCann’s follow through. Bobby argues. Too bad, Braves.
Marietta Derek's Mom
He was badly injured while attempting to apply his aerosol deodorant while doing a trick on a motorcycle while in the air. He’ll be released from Grady of June 5th.
May 25th, 20095:05 pm
Good Analogy Joe….!
Strike out here please.
May 25th, 20095:06 pm
Wild pitch moves the runner to third with one out. Winn shouldn’t even be on the bases.
We talk baseball, other sports, music, movies, BBQ and whatever (except politics or religion)
