In response to Braveheart’s post at 12:30, You’re wrong my friend.
The Braves don’t have a bunch number five starters in Tom Glavine and the kids. Neither Tommy Hanson or Charlie Morton are projectable as such. Hanson is a future ace, Morton is a solid three or four starter.
Everybody and his kid sister can agree that our Braves need offense, not more pitching. If Frank Wren pulls the trigger in trade, it will be our pitching for offense.

Chipper is rubbing off on Escobar now. It seems when Chipper finds some way to sit out Escobar does too. I would guess that Elvis Andrus would have loved to stay in Atlanta and play shortstop like he is doing so good in Texas. The former braves that they gave to Texas has the team playing excellent baseball. If they win the world series the braves ought to have a share in the revenue since several giveaway braves helped them win. Poor Chipper. It is a shame he does not qualify for medicare.

I’m feeling good today. KJ is about to go on a tear. I can see it. What is with that guy? He got to be the streakiest hitter I’ve ever seen. I also was able to correctly guess the music on the phone segment, and I have a good idea on the Aflac trivia question. Plus the Braves lead early. Think about it. The Braves have Lowe, Jurrjens, Vazquez and Kawakami as the top four starters. The fifth spot is the only one that is open. Therefore, all of those guys are fighting for the fifth spot in the rotation. Otherwise, they are relegated to bullpen duty in the bigs or Gwinnett.

both of Mac’s throws were pretty much spot on…it’s really hard to throw out runners when they are half was to 2nd (or 3rd) before you even get the ball, and JJ is terrible at holding runners on- I’d venture to say both stolen bases were on JJ, not Mac

I forgot to mention this earlier, probably because I was HAPPY, at the time, with the way Jeff had swung the bat the last couple of days. After that nerve wrenching, ONE pitch AB, when all he needed was a fly ball to the OF, or a little ground ball to the RIGHT SIDE, I’ll bring it up.
In the 2002 draft, the Braves selected Frenchy with their first pitck, the 23rd overall selection. The two picks DIRECTLY after, just happened to be Joe Blanton (24th) and MATT CAIN (25th), to the A’s, and Giants, respectively!

PWHjort: Here is the abstract to the batting average article in TAS. I misspoke a bit — .334 is the optimal average for a player (not .331), and also on some technical stuff (the prior distribution is multivariate; not the data, stuff like that.)
