Oh yeah. First homer at Turner Field this year for him, too! As a matter of fact, it’s his first HR outside of Filly…and first one that wasn’t a two-runner.
How many times has Joe been asked about interleague play? Is it three? Oh, the joys of Joe working with three different play-by-play guys in the last three days!
(Actually, I think Boog may have already asked Joe about it. You know, between Facebook mentions.)
In response to Braveheart’s post at 12:30, You’re wrong my friend.
The Braves don’t have a bunch number five starters in Tom Glavine and the kids. Neither Tommy Hanson or Charlie Morton are projectable as such. Hanson is a future ace, Morton is a solid three or four starter.
Everybody and his kid sister can agree that our Braves need offense, not more pitching. If Frank Wren pulls the trigger in trade, it will be our pitching for offense.
It is still just hard for me to fathom the number of swing-and-miss’s that come from Mr. Schafer. Man they have got to do something with him. Gotta get that kid going.
I can’t believe that the team homerun leader on May 24th in at five.
I also can’t believe it’ Kelly Johnson with all the sitting he was doing, especially against lefties of whom he has hit 3 homeruns in 36 at-bat againt.
Chipper is rubbing off on Escobar now. It seems when Chipper finds some way to sit out Escobar does too. I would guess that Elvis Andrus would have loved to stay in Atlanta and play shortstop like he is doing so good in Texas. The former braves that they gave to Texas has the team playing excellent baseball. If they win the world series the braves ought to have a share in the revenue since several giveaway braves helped them win. Poor Chipper. It is a shame he does not qualify for medicare.
Seriously, the big music buff that I am and even I’m not into Kelly’s intro music…Outfield with “Your Love” from 1985? They say I have bad taste in music??
Does anyone know how many home runs the entire braves team has? How does that rate with other teams. I know the outfield doesn’t have hardly any. Just curious?
Coach, Hanson, Glavine, Morton, Medlin, Reyes are all fifth starters right now. That’s the point that was being made within the context of the conversation being conducted about THIS YEAR’S TEAM. Please try to follow along……
I’m feeling good today. KJ is about to go on a tear. I can see it. What is with that guy? He got to be the streakiest hitter I’ve ever seen. I also was able to correctly guess the music on the phone segment, and I have a good idea on the Aflac trivia question. Plus the Braves lead early. Anyone know what the record is when they score first?
Really…just ’cause the guy’s on second doesn’t mean you cann ignore him. Grrr…having that CS% in the 30’s was EXTREMELY fun…29% now. And that guy got a couple of BIG LEADS. No chance to throw him out.
Think about it. The Braves have Lowe, Jurrjens, Vazquez and Kawakami as the top four starters. The fifth spot is the only one that is open. Therefore, all of those guys are fighting for the fifth spot in the rotation. Otherwise, they are relegated to bullpen duty in the bigs or Gwinnett.
I’m going to buy your stupidity, bottle it up, and sell it to people to make them stupider.
both of Mac’s throws were pretty much spot on…it’s really hard to throw out runners when they are half was to 2nd (or 3rd) before you even get the ball, and JJ is terrible at holding runners on- I’d venture to say both stolen bases were on JJ, not Mac
Francour always finds a way to fuc something up. WHAT IS TAKING SO LONG TO GET RID OF THIS CLOWN. NOBODY CARES ABOUT A BASES EMPTY DOUBLE, HOW ABOUT DRIVING IN A RUN MORON. OR MAYBE TAKING A PITCH WHEN YOU HAVE TO SCRAPE THE FIRST ONE OFF THE GROUND. DAMN I HATE WATHCING HIM PLAY!!
Little leaguers are taught not to swing at benders on the first pitch idk maybe jeff was so good he skipped that. I’m a defender of jeff but there was NO excuse for that crap.
Joe’s right about Bobby Dews as an author. If you haven’t read it, check out his collection of short stories “Legends, Demons and Dreams”. Baseball stories and some good Southern Horror and ghost stories. Great stuff-and he just asked me to paint the cover for his novel.
We arguably need someone like Cain more than we need a big bat. Is whatever big bat we might add really gonna make enough of a difference that he takes a team scoring 4.5 runs a game to 5 runs a game?
Frank Wren, Chipper Jones, David O’Brien, and every single professional baseball analyst alive is laughing.
Our pitching is playoff caliber.
Our offense is NOT.
Stupidity is stupidity and defending it is the definition of insanity.
MAN I SEE EVERY OTHER PROFESSIONAL BASEBALL TEAM MAKE PLAYS BEHIND SECOND BASE EXCEPT FOR THE BRAVES. WHAT IS THE PROBLEM, IT WAS A RIGHT HANDED BATTER. KELLY JOHNSON IS ALREADY DAMN NEAR STANDING ON THE BAG AND HE STILL CANT GET THERE. JESUS, CAN WE GET AN ATHELETE SOMEWHERE ON THE TEAM OTHER THAN THE MOUND.
DC BRAVE–ANYONE WHO DEFENDS FRANCOUR IS A MORON. I’LL LEAVE IT AT THAT. OUR SHORTSHOP HAS 21 RBI’S ALSO, SO WHATS YOUR POINT. HE STILL FUCIN SUCKS. HE WOULD HAVE 35 RBI’S IF HE WASNT SUCH A TERRIBLE HITTER.
I forgot to mention this earlier, probably because I was HAPPY, at the time, with the way Jeff had swung the bat the last couple of days. After that nerve wrenching, ONE pitch AB, when all he needed was a fly ball to the OF, or a little ground ball to the RIGHT SIDE, I’ll bring it up.
In the 2002 draft, the Braves selected Frenchy with their first pitck, the 23rd overall selection. The two picks DIRECTLY after, just happened to be Joe Blanton (24th) and MATT CAIN (25th), to the A’s, and Giants, respectively!
Thanks, but I don’t think I’ll take ANY comment made by someone known as BRAVES HATER seriously. You’re a freaking idiot. And I’m not even a Frenchy supporter.
